i think my main priority for now is to craft a new HQ crafter set, then start collecting materia
then i can think of other class gear lol

It's very different, much easier in my opinion. Also, HQing is much easier, with proper gear and abilities you can HQ things like crafter AF pretty reliably with NQ mats.
you have any link for some refresher?
I do, there are a few floating around. Sadly I'm not home at the moment though, posting from my phone. I can post links when I get home tonight if nobody has posted any yet.
I too have been normalizing the gear into Tier 0/1/2 since I first saw them. I think it's a great way to conceptualize the vertical gear progression in XIV just as in similar games. I hope the community gets on board with the terminology myself. Seems the FF online community has always kinda created its own rather than "conform" to the rest of the world. Y'know, like SE!
It's easy to pin down tiers as far as armor goes, but it's hard to apply the same terminology to weapons. There are iLvl 50 (crafted / dungeon greens), 55 (GC Lieutenant), 60 (Ifrit), 70 (Moogle/Titan/Garuda/Giantsgall/Crafted), 80(Relic), and 90(Relic+1) weapons.
Just gonna have to use .5s in there. ie. tier 1.5 weapons.
Seems to me that (for ARC/BRD, at least) melded Gryphonskin would be significantly better than Darklight. As an example:
Darklight head:
Dexterity +12 Vitality +14 Accuracy +11 Critical Hit Rating +16
NQ Gryphonskin head:
Dexterity +11 Vitality +11 Accuracy +13 Skill Speed +9 [two materia slots]
Darklight body:
Dexterity +20 Vitality +22 Accuracy +27 Critical Hit Rating +19
Gryphonskin body:
Dexterity +18 Vitality +18 Accuracy +21 Determination +10 [two materia slots]
etc.
You could use the two materia slots to add the stat that Gryphskin is missing, and that would be a pretty solid overall win for GS. If you HQed your GS (which should even up the DEX/VIT/ACC), that would be a blowout.
It's the same thing for a lot of jobs (probably all, but I haven't checked all of them). HQ crafted gear with melds is better than Darklight.
Expecting AV/CC to be Duty Finder content doable by the most terrible groups at this point.
It's looking like the only "hard" endgame is going to be A Relic Reborn (assuming it hasn't been nerfed to hell) and the Coil.
Darkhold gear from 1.0 is now ilvl 55-60; AV/CC gear from 1.0 is now ilvl 52
iirc during Beta Phase 3 or some shit AV/CC gear was 40ish (i have pics of my BRD wearing Explorer's Tunic and my BRD isn't 50, but the Tunic is now Lv50 only)
most Darkhold gear is ilvl60; I can only see Alpine War Jacket at 55 atm, too lazy to keep checking though. Templar Falchion is ilvl49 too. weird. but Darkhold is now dropping better items than AV/CC if the drops remain the same locations
I find it weird that the Explorer's Belt, which was primarily relegated to a crafting belt due to its Control stat, is suddenly one of the best damn tanking belts in the game (3rd best).
HQs of the green ilvl 70 gear have equivalent defense to DL (tested with Heavy Darksteel and Gryphonskin).
edit: just edited in some examples in this post to further illustrate some stuff about materia stat caps: http://www.bluegartr.com/threads/117...=1#post5854880
I'm going to be new to FFXIV ARR but I've been involved in beta testing 2.0 since phase 1. Has there been any mention of Raid Lockouts and if so what is the expected CD time?
Gearing to finish these raids is pretty self explanitory, what i'm more curious about, is running these runs efficently with spirit bond equipment. Or if spirit bond parties will still exist, in some fashion similar to 1.0 SB parties.
