So apparently the Error 3 is just a generic error according to reddit. Anyone have a clue how to get around it or is it just due to the site getting hammered?

Well they could make each and every person have to actually call SE on the phone, wait on hold for 4-8 hours, verify their account with a secret question they made up in 2005, then get a new code.

When I went to the NA site earlier and hit I have an account, it took me to this form where I had to enter my GF's BDay, name, and make up a secret question, then accept some terms. Did any of you guys get that? wtf was that secret question for? I went to her SE management account and it doesn't work there.

To further clarify, I never got a confirmation screen on the preorder website, lots of errors. But I eventually got the following email:

Here is your PlayStation Promotion Code that will allow you to download the game from the PS Store, grant you early access to FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn as well as the Cait Sith Doll Minion and Mog Cap in-game bonus items at the start of official service.

Downloading the PS3 Game Client

How to download from PlayStation®Store
Select "PlayStation®Store" icon located under "PlayStation®Network" category on XMB™ (XrossMediaBar).
Select "Redeem Codes" on the PlayStation Store menu and enter the promotion code you received in email. Once the promotion code has been entered, proceed with the download process.
How to download from Account Management
Log in to PlayStation Network.
Select "Account Management" icon located under "PlayStation®Network" category on XMB™ (XrossMediaBar).
Select "Redeem Codes".
Enter the promotion code and proceed with the download process.
Once the download is complete, the software installation will begin automatically. If you select "Download in Background," you will return to XMB™. We sincerely apologize, but the pre-order redemption site is experiencing very high traffic which we are currently working to resolve. We are adding additional bandwidth and server capacity to ensure that all customers will be able to redeem their pre-order codes as soon as possible.
