I believe Texas has a clause in its state constitution that would allow it to divide itself into five states without approval from Congress as well.

Texas also claims that when they joined the US, part of the agreement was that they could leave if they thought the US wasn't behaving in their interests (remember the big thing about Rick Perry bringing it up Texas session a few years ago?). Whenever someone brings that up though, I like to remind them of the Civil War. States tried to leave, US said lolno.

As a displaced Texan I can say most Texans are proud Americans.. plus we know we need to stick around with our special brand of crazy to counteract the special brand of crazy coming out of California.
