Edit: From reading the thread the context of the question was not about Fates will not give seals at all, but was about Fates giving too little seals, and that it was just only fates for now as it was beta only, due to not having alot of content in yet.

In the JP question they were asking if there will be more ways to obtain seals that just FATE.

It could be a simple mistranslation/misunderstanding.

I do believe that what is happening is that they are adding options besides fate, and not removing FATE seal rewards.

Yup, in this context I do think it just means besides FATEs, or Apart from FATEs. I do agree its a really bad word to use in that instance.

Not a fan of dailies in the "If you don't log in that day, you're fucked!" aspect. That said, I like leves because they build a tally where you can burn however many you want in a given day without the pressure of having to get on. Whether or note the leves are actually enjoyable is another matter, though.

Honestly, if the intent is to make people grind, I'd rather the daily restriction be removed and instead be something like, "Repeat this quest 10 times and get X on top of the individual repeat rewards." You'll still get the hardcore fuckwits that'll play 24/7 and get them all done in a day or two and then bitch about nothing to do, but the rep grinds I went through in Rift really just turn me off to the idea as well as their actual rewards being pretty shitty for the sheer time required.

At the same time, I also worry about what seem to be weekly currency acquisition caps for stuff like the AF+1. That really hamstrings wanting to gear multiple jobs at a decent pace as well as pretty much screaming, "Play our way or GTFO!" like dailies do. In the end, they're just safety mechanisms to let devs be lazy about producing content.

Great then you can see that they are not removing it from fate. Also note that the exclusion in question does not mean removing something that is already there but, excluding/separating it from the upcoming action.

The confusion originates from p3. When joining a GC you get a help pop up teaching you about seals. The help window explicitly mentioned in bright red text that FATEs giving seals was a beta thing. The wording was shitty and some took it to mean FATEs won't give seals at release, others took it to mean there'd be more ways to get seals at launch (which is dumb because even p3 had multiple other ways to get them). To me it was pretty clear they were removing seals as a reward from that message, but I'm remaining optimistic that they'll keep them in because GC leves are fucking retarded and supply orders give you fuck all for seals.

I thought that initially as well but we don't know if the only way to attain AF+1 is by the trading in tokens. It's possible that the gear also drops from instances and tokens are there to supplement shitty luck with drop rates. Otherwise, gearing multiple jobs would take way too long and just undermines the whole idea of being able to play any class/job at any time.

EXP is about the only reward that they can give that won't make players feel like they missed out if they skip a day or two of dailies. If they plan them as endgame content then obviously, EXP is useless.

Yup That dev comment was from phase 1/2 feedback, when the only way to obtain seals were from FATES, in phase 3 they added different ways but indeed kept FATE rewards.

As soon as you tie them to achievements or any sort of minimal gear progression and money, then they're no longer optional. GW2 went overboard with this. You basically have to log in every single day, which sounds good in theory but isn't, or you fall behind and can never make back those points.

Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't use "aside from" in an inclusive way. In your example, I'd use "Including me, ..." or just drop the preposition and stick with "yada yada also". Hurray for ambiguous language?

The more this conversation drags on the more apparent it becomes that the leve system already does what dailies would do only better.

-No obligation to log in daily or miss out
-Varied rewards (gil or seals)
-Able to get exp for any class you want (DoH, DoL)
-Can be done casually solo or in groups if you feel like it

The system they had in place in 1.0 where completing sets of certain leves would open up bigger, group-oriented leves with NM/HNM like enemies was criminally underused and had a lot of potential, I really hope they kept that system in mind.

As long as dailies are a by the way thing, that you can accomplish by doing regular content, and not something that you need to go out of your way and focus on. There is no reason to force anyone to log in everyday, in this game.
