In light of the discussion, I can see it going either way. The more I read, the less certain I am what the fuck is being communicated. D:
But you see, I am not including me as I already have it.. It is not inclusive at all. I already have, They are now getting. That future adjustment does not include me.

SE DEV: "OK guys listen up, aside from FATE, I am giving everyone else GC seals as rewards!"
FATE: "Well I dont care!, I already have that!!!

See what I am getting at? It does not mean a removal at all. "Aside from" is just an exclusion pertaining to the upcoming phrase, in a sentence.

If Fates did not have seal rewards the use of Besides would have made sense. As it would have been included in the addition.

FFXI had a few dailies (or were they weeklies? anyway...), but since they were mainly used for exp purposes (main reward was Miratete's Memoirs), I never heard anyone complain about them. If FFXIV's dailies are just used as an alternate source of exp, surely they won't be a bad thing... unless I'm missing something? In fact, they could even make the game feel more alive, if the quests aren't the exact same thing every single day.
Kiarax spoke of the fact that in recent MMOs have treated these with rewards that made the systems "required daily work". Daily quests in WoW for example quickly became a job within the game. If you missed a day of doing your 20 dailies you were "losing" money and creating more time and effort required for you to gain the rewards you want. Reputation grinds, and stuff like unlocking quest hubs and more dailies. These quests became required work. While they expanded the variety of daily quests as expansions have gone by giving you a varied "illusion of choice" on which quests you complete, it still boils down to being a job within a game.

To add to this, many MMO developers have qualified daily quests as "content". While technically content daily quests are the equivalent of Peeps. They are soft and sweet , have a little sugar on the outside and give you a good feeling when you eat a few of them. But when you are overloaded by Peep after Peep it doesn't matter if you have pink bunnies, yellow chicks, blue birds, they are all the same incredibly nutritionless fluff. Take GW2 for example. The dailies there are treated like achievements. But they are still dailies. Dailies and achievements in general in GW2 have been used as content more and more as the game has been out. We don't want dailies, we want content that is not only fun, but content we can make an informed choice on whether to do or not to do.

It's like people completely forgot about the bullshit that was Guild points in XI. Having to force myself get on every day for months to cap out my crafting items was not okay.

This is exactly why I quit playing GW2, though I still enjoyed WvWvW. By the time I got my Legendary, all they were doing was small monthly content with different skins applied, both in the content and the rewards. Do your daily grind, get your daily rewards, then wait for the next 'event'. All while doing your dragon chest daily events for money.... ad nauseam. I've yet to see a Daily Quest system that hasn't become a grind within a grind.

did you guys not watch any live letters? yoshi talked about the daily quests months ago, this is already old news, he said he wants to add daily exp quests to help with lvling new classes. someone asked him something like this "how can we lvl other classes after we used all the exp quests" and he said "you can do leve, fates, dungeons but in the future we will also add daily exp quests to help you lvl other classes, please look forward to it"
you might ask why add daily exp quests when there are already leve? well you can use leve for gathering/crafting jobs and they are kinda limited, so i guess they just want to add some extra exp quests

Sup dawg, I heard you like content options, so I added 21-24h world spawn HNM so you would have more options for your content. Please look forward to it!

Some options are best left on the cutting room floor.

As soon as you tie them to achievements or any sort of minimal gear progression and money, then they're no longer optional. GW2 went overboard with this. You basically have to log in every single day, which sounds good in theory but isn't, or you fall behind and can never make back those points.
I hope they take the form of things like "use the Duty Finder to complete a dungeon" or "complete 3 leves in Ul'dah" or similar, and just reward XP. Dailies work fine if they're just extra incentive to utilize existing content.

If they do have any kind of gil rewards, I hope the effort:reward ratio is so poor that they're not worth doing from an income perspective, and if they have gear rewards I hope it's purely vanity gear.

If they absolutely insist on having something useful tied to dailies, I hope they do it more like SWTOR did with reputation (which is still pretty awful, but not *as* bad) - you could only earn so much reputation for any particular faction in a week, and it took no more than 2-3 days tops to max out the weekly budget. Even then, the only rewards for increasing faction standing were vanity shells.

If Yoshi & Co. implement dailies as a core part of level 50 content, I'll be extremely disappointed.

Best way to implement dailies: Assault system. Near complete copy of it works just perfect. A bit better reward with ??? items or something all that needs tweaked. You get points for each area for certain rewards, and then salvage/nyzul both keeps usage together later on. You will only do the same thing every day if you CHOOSE to, since there will be multiple options each day. And assaults you could also do 3-4 twice a week and you're good, no need to make them true dailies. And annoying escort quests can either be removed entirely or better AI for escorted NPC's could make them decent enough.

Did you try to do these years later? Everyone was already Captain rank and didn't want to go back to the lower ranks because the rewards were not as great. Never got passed PFC.

I can't imagine him doing this. I went back and reread about the dailies and they seem to just be an optional thing to do for xp, like a different fate sorta everyday since people will eventually run out of quests. He's been pretty good about making content really accessible once you fulfill prereq(s).

You can spot them all docked inside the Praetorium (in the last dungeon tour video)... which is the same "test" zone they originally showed us the mounts in.

Someone said Assault was near perfect. No wonder my dick crunched sideways in the middle of then night last night.

God, I woke up in a cold sweat over that. Thanks, asshole.

The official translation to the Producer Letter from awhile ago came out today. There was some discrepancies between different translators; here is what it says...

    1:55:56
Q: What's the status of the treasure map idea?
A: We are currently developing this to be a large-scale game using field areas. We'd like to implement this as soon as possible with content that has a beastmen tribe with daily quest content as well as treasure hunts. We're planning for this content to be done either solo or with a light party, so please look forward to it.
Still pretty vague, to me it almost sounds like a treasure coffer type deal.

People talk about running out of quests pretty fast so perhaps dailys will fix that.
