That's what it sounds like to me too. Seems like Qiqirin will hide coffers, you'll get a map, and you can go and find the coffer.

Wealth? A stable income? A way to slight the people you didn't like by cock blocking their AF coffer?

    I agree.

Yeah. Another time when having THF leveled was awesome.

Also made a few friends doing those that I'll be playing XIV with. Have to looked on the bright side with that one.

Doesn't mean that can't be easily tweaked. Give a bonus to completion anytime a first-timer is in and people would help (pretty sure this mechanic is already implemented in Duty Finder runs) and make sure the max reward is similar for each one.

And Assault gives 50 different options, for a "daily" quest system, that's pretty awesome when it comes to having to grind them out, as it wouldn't be the same damn thing every day. Other negatives of assault can easily be changed (rank up quests are silly and useless, imo).

I really don't see how an assault-like scenario would be worse than the WoW-daily quest grind of the same 15-20 daily quests every damn day.

-Able to get exp for any class you want (DoH, DoL)
-Can be done casually solo or in groups if you feel like it

The system they had in place in 1.0 where completing sets of certain leves would open up bigger, group-oriented leves with NM/HNM like enemies was criminally underused and had a lot of potential, I really hope they kept that system in mind.

Nope. You said they were perfect.

You had to do 3-4 Assaults per week in order to rank up, which in turn gives you more points so you can do Salvage. You can't get points for Salvage and do Nyzul either. They basically gave us three dailies to grind for crap gear instead of giving us one daily to grind for crap gear like other MMOs.

    Job Change -> Mijin Gakure

I sorely miss picking coffers as THF. It felt so... empowering not to have to farm keys like the rest of the non-THF peasants.

Not sure how/if they would implement something similar in this game, though. There's so much emphasis on protecting the economy that I imagine THF will be limited strictly to stealing buffs or trash drops.

I agree with Niiro; it looks like levequests are one of the very few good things remaining from the Tanaka era, as they decisively obsolete the need to implement dailies.

The treasure chest system in 1.0 worked essentially the same as XI coffers but not as obnoxious because the lower-tier chest mobs could be soloed and key farming parties frequently doubled as SB/primal entry item farming/EXP parties.

One big difference was chests were fixed objects (didn't move around) and every time you got a key drop you ran over and tried your luck.

Less than 100 players? I think developers always underestimate the ones who literally play like fiends.

You get points for each area for certain rewards, and then salvage/nyzul both keeps usage together later on. You will only do the same thing every day if you CHOOSE to, since there will be multiple options each day. And assaults you could also do 3-4 twice a week and you're good, no need to make them true dailies. And annoying escort quests can either be removed entirely or better AI for escorted NPC's could make them decent enough.
Funny how people apparently misread the 2nd sentence and then ignore the rest of the post and make a judgement, considering the rest of that post is talking about changes desired from the assault system...

And that's kind of the point. Having 3 dailies to grind twice a week is better than doing the SAME EXACT DAILIES EVERY SINGLE DAY. I think some peoples FFXI bitterness is skipping over how terrible dailies are in WoW...

Honestly I had always figured the First Time Completion Bonus of Guildhests would make for a decent daily system. As it stands Guildhests are pretty much pointless to repeat beyond the first time as the recently added No-Deaths bonus is still pitiful when compared to first time completion. If the first time completion bonus reset every day Guildhests would be a lot more desirable to redo.
