I'm tempted to get the fishing rod first and here is my stupid reasoning.

I can gather everything I need quickly except ice and water clusters.

The problem with getting them via reduction is that I need patience to catch the fish and I always collect 8/8 fish. 8/8 fish never give clusters and instead give seasand which is essentially worthless. With a nicer fishing rod I could more reliably get the mooch without patience and reduce non hq-fish for a better chance to get clusters.

I feel this is dumb and I should just buy the clusters or mine them the old way, but lol.

I was looking at the off-hand crafting requirements.....SE doesn't want us to have nice things, do they? I know they will make it progressively easier with future patches and probably create a one-gear-fits-all for crafters and gatherers again, but man the wall on these items is pretty steep.

So it appears the best mainhand DoL weapons are 26 red scripts each? There are no crafted near-equals?

They require a 530+ collectibility item. I've been using the rotation that lets you get 2-4 items per node.

What is the 530+ rotation?

edit: wait, I'm just really looking at this for the first time. There is NO left-side crafted gear for DoL except waist? It's ALL red script gear? Well my fisher is never getting geared, holy hell.

This crafting/gathering patch/expansion becomes a bigger clusterfuck the deeper I get into it, jeeze.

Im gettin the offhands myself first, since it requires less tokens to craft. There is also a fix coming to the favors, but I havent found the source for it yet, so it might just be a rumour.

For those that "may be curious" the i180 (and I presume the i170 does too?) changes the "offhand" crafting table (not sure if mentioned but I just noticed so!)

If they ever upgrade them further, I suspect they'll make them buyable via the Calamity Salvager, just like if you had tossed your old lv50 class quest reward tool for it also being shit.

...but yeah I feel that way about a lot of things, like, wtf am I supposed to do with these old zenith relic weapons I never gave a shit about? I guess I could toss 'em. Here's hoping they expand the armoire further.

That's way under market value (currently selling for HQ25k x297=7.4M, 5M values them at 16.8k), and fuck getting 6 stacks of furymints; that guy didn't have any materials at all.
