Only real way a crafter will be able to set himself apart from all the others is by being able to make something unique, which used to be HQs. This can be done by SE releasing recipes (sellable or untradeable) or a material (untradeable) as dungeon drops that allow a crafter to make this unique item. Till then, make that paper while you still can.
No, it's really that it's incredibly easy.
Late-game 1.0 crafting was pretty engaging and fun (though admittedly not as well-designed as ARR); the only real problem with it was the voodoo craftsmanship vs. magic craftsmanship nonsense. But it was still difficult; crafting HQs from NQ was legit hard for anything not WAY below your level, and crafting HQ from HQ for high-level recipes required high-level crossclass abilities AND luck. To be perfectly honest, it was probably TOO hard.
The current system would be fine if leves gave about 25% as much exp as they do now; the game is balanced decently well for a single-class LV50 but once you have multiple 50s, you steamroll recipes on any class with ease. As it is, it's just too easy to level multiple crafts with blinding speed.
My only hope is that this is something like the gil rewards on early 1.0 leves: Yoshida wants to get a strong crafter base on the non-legacy servers before the nerf anvil falls on crafting leve rewards.
Crafting is like 5 buttons, sometimes 6 if tricks doesn't proc, 100% HQ any item. That's all there is to it.
I'm not sure which leve you're talking about here. The one I saw was One Of Our Naturalists was missing, which:
- had 4 mobs to kill between the starting point and (nearby) destination
- granted ~8k exp to a LV45, with speed bonus (at level+0)
- was not back in my list after doing it once
Getting any crafting job to 15 should take you virtually no Gil and less than an hour. Just craft new stuff once for the bonus and repeat high level, low ingredient synths until you hit 15. Don't waste allowances on those.
Alright, I'm currently taking CUL to 15, with CRP after(not leveling MIN and certainly not ARM), but here is my current craft lvls:
BTN 18 - BSM 15 - GSM 15 - WVR 15 - LTW 15 - ALC 15
I wanna ride botanist to 50, but that would mean I've have to level the rest to 50 as well? I only got 28k gil and about 55 allowances on leves. Basically trying to find a safe route for my gil now that I'm gonna be coming out of the "0 gil spending" phase on crafts.
And no you don't need the leves to ride to 15. I learned that the hard way on BSM.
Sorry, I'm confused. You're saying you want to level Botanist to 50? You don't need any craft for that, it's gathering. Unless of course you want to craft tools and armour for it you could level everything - but Botanist isn't a crafting class. If its Goldsmithing you're going into, you'll probably want Mining. Sorry if I've missed the point of something you said earlier.
Basically though there are good cross class crafting abilities and most of the crafts interact with at least 2 others which interact with two others... so essentially you can end up levelling all of them. Usually to supply yourself with materials to make materials for the various crafts you do. It's very well done and if you're like me, draws you in.
Sorry, wasn't quite clear, the intention was to make botanist my first 50 as I am going to gather all mats/shards. Forgotten that the gathering classes only depend on gear/tools. I read like.. 10 pages of this thread. Came to conclusion that it is best I level all of them.
This is gonna tough.
DoL are much, much, much simpler than DoH.
There's no need to worry about cross class skills as the only ones of any relevance to DoL are the crystal gathering ones which are, at best, mildly useful.
..I see why people dread leveling CUL. It may as well be combined with Fishing and just be one whole craft.
You must be leveling it wrong. I did 30->50 in a single day, first spamming the Cornmeal leve (with some Dark Vinegar leves sprinkled in there), then the Apple Juice leve. I can't comment on 1->30 though, since I did that in 1.0, so maybe that's more of a pain.
I bet Bango Zango could fill multiple silos full of Cornmeal at this point.
I just started it, only lvl7 lol. Most of the recipes need fishes. Haven't found the "spam xp lucrative can buy all mats from NPC right there and speed to 15" synth yet.
Is there another suggestion on how to hq item if i don;t have comfort zone and steadyhand II? Cul and alc are the only one that i don;t have 50 on lol
Then... simply don't use Comfort Zone, and just use Steady Hand instead of Steady Hand II?
Comfort zone is just CP efficiency. It's amazing but it's not 100% required. To do a HQ without comfort zone...don't use it and still get HQs.
If you don't have ALC at all, spend an hour and get it to 15, because Hasty Touch + [Manipulation or Mend II] + Tricks of the Trade is the best way to stack up Inner Quiet until you have 900+ control.
I thought the "Fishmonger" NPC was at the FSH guild?
Anyway, the NPC Niiro is talking about is at The Hyaline, south of the Aftcastle aethernet stop.
