Is there a rule of thumb as to when to use Byregot's? I got all the crafting classes to 15 but carpenter is going to be my first 50 (probably tonight). I've mostly been doing the usual steady hand hasty touch, tricks whenever possible deal

After all that stuff and with Great Strides (maybe ingenuity too) seems like a resonble thing to do.
As the last quality action on your synth, or close to last if you have an opportune synth condition pop up (excellent, or good when you don't have enough CP to Great Strides, etc.)
I've found the key is to figure out how much CP you need to use great strides>steady hand> byregots and still have enough CP/Durability to finish. Then, just Hasty Touch as much as possible (even if you don't have enough Hand up) until you hit your Durability breakpoint while you have your necessary CP remaining.
Depends on condition, IQ stacks, and actual quality needed as a number. I don't have a good feel for it yet but I typically do it when
-Quality ~50% done, Excellent
-Quality ~66-75% done, Great Strides and/or Good
-Quality 75%+ done, Great Strides (Normal) (feels like I should be doing it sooner but ehh)
I also make sure to have Steady Hands up when I do it because it is a god-awful feeling to blow a 90% and be left with nothing. Like on Excellent if I don't have it up I'd rather do my best non-Byregot's Touch.
Also Byregot's makes grinding on 40 dura synths for leves not-horrible. So I love it even more than before.
I honestly am expecting a crafting nerf. I love it so much, but I'm 15/15 HQ on 2* now with 100% on 13 of them with only 4 lv50 crafts.
And with how easy it is to level crafts...honestly. I kind of miss XI's fuck you in the ass tier system. Those Dusk Gloves +1 felt a lot better than any of my rose gold / astral / darksteel.
Hope they make it more challenging in updates. Make it like 8000 quality or something and impose an even harsher non-linearity to HQ% rate.
I'd like to see them add elemental-affinities to the 2-star synths, but having never done one yet, I imagine even with that, it would still be too easy to HQ, since elemental-affinities only cut your progress gains in half.
PbP is only "remaining progress" though. It's not 3 to finish. Unless just blowing through the first 1/3rd is enough to make it useful.
Hmm, I wonder if PbP bypasses the halved progress efficiency for elemental affinity synths. I never even thought about that, since all the elemental affinity synths are laughably easy.
As I mentioned earlier, PBP is like a philosophy joke; it's always 1/3rd of your remaining progress, meaning the progress gain from it is smaller and smaller the later you use it.
That being said, even when used at 0/xxx progress, I'm not sure Brand of [x] would not be better than PBP, straight up.
How many Careful Synth IIs does it take for a well-geared DoH to make a 2-star synth?
Also, are you guys stacking Ingenuity (I/II) with your progress actions?
IG2 + SH + 2x 150% progress puts me 1 careful away from finish every time on all crafts so I just do that.
And that's how I open all my 2*
Haven't done 2* yet, but on 1*, I believe IG + 2 Careful II leaves me 1 Careful II away from finishing usually. Just HQ AF and accessories with few/no melds.
With my particular gear and ability loadout, I'm at a progress sweet spot for 80 durability 50* synths. As I recall, it's 195 difficulty, I get 93 progress with Ingenuity I+Careful II, and 51 progress with just Careful II.
can someone explain what byregot's combo is? saw some mention of it earlier but was not elaborated on
Hasty touch -> Great strides + byrgeot. Read description of byrgeot and all should be clear.
nice, thank you
Got a 1727 quality increase from Byrgeot yesterday. Highest I've seen yet.
