I assumed it would work like that from the get-go since it said it restores durability after each step, and not before.

Manipulation order of operations is
-10 dura (or 5 if WN, or 0 if non-dura action)
Check for 0 dura for fail
+10 dura
Alright, here goes. I made a tool to solve the synthesis problem. It's open sourced on GitHub currently. It's not in a state ready for public consumption yet, as currently it requires you to manually edit code to enter your stats and the stats of the item you're trying to synth as well as what abilities you have at your disposal.
However, if you know how to compile code (and even if you don't know how to compile code yet), it's fairly easy to get started with. I welcome patches, but as mentioned in the README on the github, I don't expect this to be bugfree yet, and I apologize in advance if the code is shitty (I kind of just blazed through it as fast as I could to get a prototype working, but I intend to improve it as time goes on).
It seems to work reasonably well so far from my current tests. However I've spent most of my time writing this tool and not actually crafting, so my highest craft is only 20 and as such I don't support any of the higher level abilities yet. All of this will come, just a matter of time.
I have long term aspirations of perhaps capturing the screen buffer so that the tool can auto-update the current condition / status automatically rather than requiring you to enter it. Anyway that's for later
Feel free to take a look, and if anyone has programming experience, I would welcome some pull requests and patches.
Here's some sample output of what it looks like when I run the program currently:
As you can see, at each step it tells you which action it thinks is optimal, and then based on the result which the user enters ("sn", for example, means that the operation was successful and the resulting condition was normal), it continues to tell you which options you should choose, using the various progress / quality formulas along the way so that it knows your stats.Code:Encountered unsolved state. As mentioned, some of the upcoming work will be to put this behind a nice Windows GUI, make it faster, maintain a recipe database so you can easily enter the recipe you're attempting, and various other things. More info at the website, and as mentioned, patches are welcome.
Is it bad to use Advanced touch?
I put comfort zone in the front > IQ > GS > SH > Innovation > AT > GS > AT
Once I start to run lower on CP I use Ingenuity 2 > Careful synthesis
I don't want to level CUL but I have a feeling I have to ._.
It's not "bad" but you haven't crafted until you've crafted with HT > byrgeot.
At the same time I feel Byregot kinda ruins high level crafting, it triviliazes everything, especially 80durability but even for 40D it's insanely good. I HQ 2stars so easily even though I didn't bother putting a single materia III in my gear(well I guess I have 2x 3CP in legs/boots), just need to reach the minimum control/craft amount, which is super super easy to do with HQ AF/militia offhand to begin with. I have a few overmelds, mostly +3craft in the first 45%chance to meld slot, some of my pieces don't even have any(like my belt/earring since I break them down everytime they spiritbind, I just throw a +3craft materia in them whenever I need to do 2star to reach the requirement). I don't feel with such a low commitement you should be able to 100% HQ 2stars out of NQ materials. Maybe they'll add a new tier of crafting that actually requires good gear.
And what gear should that be? Since you need a decent amount of melds on top of the best gear to be even attempt two star recipes. Super easy? I don't think so.Maybe they'll add a new tier of crafting that actually requires good gear.
I wish I was able to easily 100% these things like you claim, but it hasn't been the case for me. It all relies on a lot of luck and half the time I end up at 80%. Are all of you people calling this too easy people from legacy who have a never ending supply of materia?
80% is pretty darn close to 100% on the quality bar, due to the way it ramps up there at the end. Sounds like you just need a few more melds/food/skills/whatever.
He said he didn't bother putting single materia III on his gear.
It is true though HQ is pretty much the norm
Ah, well then...
DoH materia melding tip: Start with your accessories/belt first, since you can wear them on all jobs. That ought to lower the barrier of entry a bit. I still haven't bothered to meld onto any of my AF pieces aside from my first two DoH jobs, since my accessories are pulling so much weight. I'll need to outfit ARM with a few soon, if I decide to bang out some Darklight though.
Accessory-first is really only a valid strategy if you have more than one 50 craft.
If you don't, there are a lot more non-exploding slots on the AF itself. You can do a full set of guaranteed melds and hit all your minimums.
Are we talking T2 or T3? Because crafting materia is pretty expensive D:
I'm thinking maybe I need to change up my order. If I do progress last after byregot's while ingenuity is still up I might be able to squeeze more stuff together.
For me Ingen2 + 2 Careful2s takes me to 1 Careful2 away from completion. It's probably not optimal but this is my routine for 1*
CZ > IQ > SH2 > (Hasty until done > Ingen2 > Careful2 > Careful2 > Master's Mend II) > SH2 > Hasty until done/20dura > hopefully I have enough CP/quality for the big Byregot finish, otherwise abort mission and Reclaim, Rumination for it if needed)
The () section kind of depends on how many Goods I get. If I can do the progress as a buffer action to get me to 20 dura for MM2, I do that. Otherwise it gets dumb and I either have to do a unbuffed Hasty or waste Ingen2 turns.
But I'm being more lazy than optimal; if I don't do progress when I do it I'm probably going to forget about it and have to abort mission..
These 4+ 50 methods don't really work that well until you have 4+ 50s. :/
You can improvise without CZ/Ingen2/Careful2, and Reclaim is really just a "I fucked up" button. I made most of my DoH/L 1* gear with just the HQ 50 set and decent accessories with no melds, didn't have CZ or Ingen2 at the time either I believe. You have SH2 and Byregot's which sound good enough.
edit: After posting I realized my friend probably didn't unlock advanced materia melding.
First time poster. I'm sorry in advance for any mistake in my post.
I'm working on a Crafting Simulator which is almost ready for publicity. (You guys can check it out here: http://xivsim.x0.com/)
The only problem is I cannot find the right formula for progress/control.
Currently, I use the formula on this thread but it seems to be a bit off.
So I would like to ask veterans to help filling out this data spreadsheet so we can come up with the most accurate formula.
I would like to collect the quality data by using a character with the same or higher level as the recipe.
I still don't know the best way to collect progress data and how to come up with the penalty formula. If anyone has any suggestion, please let me know.
Hmm, I posted an answer to your question earlier but I don't see it showing up. Anyway, you're correct that the formula is wrong. It's because the bullet points you see listed under the formula are not expressed in the actual formula, you need to do that manually.
Here are some better formulas that are self contained and should not need additional adjustments:
P = Progress
E = efficiency
Q = Quality
Cr = Craftsmanship
Co = Control
L = Your Level
R = Recipe Level
M = Condition Multiplier (0.5 for Poor, 1.0 for Normal, 1.5 for Good, 4.0 for Excellent.
S = Sign[L-R]
P = ROUND(E * (1.0 + MIN(ABS(L-R),5) * S * (0.025*(1-S)+0.05)) * (0.21*Cr+1.6))
Q = ROUND(M * E * (1.0 + 0.05*MIN(0,L-R)) * (0.36*Co + 34.0))
The progress formula probably looks like crazy, but it's easier to understand if you write it as an algorithm instead of a single expression. This whole part: 1.0 + MIN(ABS(L-R),5) * S * (0.025*(1-S)+0.05) is equivalent to the following:
Code:double levelFactor = 1.0; if (L-R > 0) levelFactor += Min(5, L-R)*0.05; else if (L-R < 0) levelFactor += Max(-5, L-R)*0.1;
Thank you for the reply
The exact formula i currently use (in javascript) is
gqua is quality gainedCode:gqua = Math.floor((1 - 0.05 * lvldif) * (0.36 * ccon*(1+0.2*iqStack) + 34))
lvldif is the level difference (5 max - 0 min)
ccon is character control
Which I think is the same as your control formula. Am I missing anything?
