Just finished getting all DoH to 50, and was working on making my own sets of HQ class gear. I started to meld some accessories (overmelding is expensive yo) but some people are saying wait until 2.2 to see the gear changes. Would it be worth it to fully gear now or wait until 2.2? Figure if I wait, I won't be able to HQ the new stuff easily but won't need to upgrade gear later.

Unless you have a sudden pressing need to craft fairly useless (about to become very useless) ilvl 70 gear you might as well wait I suppose.

That said it's not like crafting AF uses any valuable materials (as if there were any valuable materials in the game to begin with) so it''s not like you'd be wasting money.

Shit just got real.

New crafting content is HEAVILY gated behind HQ i70 mats (i.e. 40dura), and they cost 2500 seals each from GC. You need five ** mats to unlock each recipe book.

New i70 crafting hat is CTL+8 CRF+4 over HQ AF hat (so just CTL+3 over fully melded HQ, but all classes). New i70 maintool is CRF+32 CTL+17 over old blue maintool. The hats and tools require new turn-in (for me, Treated Spruce Plywood/Cashmere Cloth tier), which may require an ingredient that costs 500 myth, but I can't really tell because I haven't bought the recipe books yet. Someone else has told me that it looks like (nearly?) all i90 craftable gear is gated behind alchemy mats.

To follow up on Spider-Dan's post, it takes 45 potash to make the 5 HQ Vanya Silk you need to get the master crafter weaver book. At current prices, that is 112,500 GC seals.

About 1 million seals.

As another point of reference, * Militia Robe is 195 difficulty, ** Vanya Robe is 233 difficulty. Some of the new *** WVR recipes available without a master book (which appear to be vanity gear) are 445 difficulty. And the new *** minion requires two mats from gardening.

Crafting might actually involve some skill now, but I'm still unsure why anyone should bother when the best gear you can make (i90 battle sans accessories) is so subpar. Looks like this patch is designed to thin the herd.

Yep. Easy quest in Mor Dhona to open up the ability. You can then buy Master books to enable you to craft em. There's also an NPC in Mor Dhona who talks about how to upgrade your gathering main hands and you have to trade over x amount of materials for the gathering ones.

The glamour recipes are master books, but they're separate books from the "actual crafting recipes" book and only cost 3000 gil each.

I wouldn't bother trying to max-meld head/body/hands/legs/feet for crafting, there's a whole new set of crafting gear purchaseable by turning in HQ crafted items thats are better than crafting AF, and also non-meldable, (not to mention its 1 set, for all 8 crafts).

What "whole new set of crafting gear" are you referring to? I only see a new hat, Artisan's Spectacles.

Anyway, I think I have a fair grasp of the way the new crafting stuff works (excluding glamours, which are straightforward). I'm going to use clothcraft as an example:

- "Philosophy" mats (e.g. potash) now cost 2500 GC seals each.
- You must purchase a Master recipe book from NPC to unlock 10 new recipes (per craft). The price of this book is 5 HQ ** 40dura mats (e.g. Vanya Silk).
- Once you purchase the Master book, you unlock a new ** 80dura recipe (e.g. Silver Brocade). This item will not require tome/seal mats (e.g. Silver Brocade requires twinthread + silver ingot). This synth requires significantly more progress (difficulty) than previous ** 80dura recipes, and existing ** 80dura macros WILL NOT WORK.
- Trade 10 HQ of the aforementioned item (e.g. Silver Brocade) to receive an all-DoH Artisan's Spectacles (CTL+8 CRF+4 over unmelded HQ AF hat).
- Trade 50 HQ of the aforementioned item to receive a new i70 Artisan mainhand tool (e.g. Artisan's Needle). This unmeldable tool is CRF+32 CTL+17 over the previous BiS blue tools.
- After equipping the i70 mainhand tool, you now have enough Craftsmanship (391) and Control (374) to meet the requirements to synth the new i90 gear, which has two significant ingredients:
1) an i90 mat (e.g. Cashmere Cloth) that is created with a 500-myth mat (e.g. Cashmere Fleece)
2) Terminus Putty, an i90 ALC mat that is created with a 150-myth mat (Tawny Latex)

Yes, that means all i90 crafted gear is gated through ALC.

Also for reference, using leatherworker as an example. The two star master item Gryphonskin Strap is Difficulty 419, Dur80, Quality 5257, and uses 11 earth shard, 10 wind shard, 2 hyppogryph leathers to make. Each HQ Hippogryph leather used increased the quality by 1314. It's still bloody hard to HQ.

Also Also, these items are untradable. You have to make the 10,50HQ yourself.

This is my goldsmith.. I crafted a gold ingot with 24% chance HQ... it didn't HQ but this so far is the rotation I came up with to do the lv90 3 STAR crafts

I'm not quite capped on GSM, I need to redo my offhand... I can get 4 more control.... but rest of gear is capped....

Oh.. rotation is on the hotbar.... it costs 388 CP... give 490 progress.... 45 more then I need.. but ingenuity II careful synthesis gives me 70 progress a turn, so 6 carefuls II is 420.. not enough to complete 445 progress.. need 7.. which causes me to have to blow so many points on other skills and I have to hasty touch quality, still working on rotation... gotta be another way to get to 445 progress and get more quality , but atm.. im thinking 25% chance to HQ the hardest synthesis.

I keep editing this.. on that rotation , like others... if you proc GOOD on either of the first two moves... you can Tricks of the Trade, to get 20 CP and replace hasty touch with a basic touch which is 18 cp...

base is 348 CP... which is cap.. +43 to give me 391... soo I try to make rotation using all 391 cp.. but this rotation is 388

Are you wearing your CUL hat for a reason? The spectacles you clearly have because of an earlier screenshot are all-DoH.

Also, isn't Bouillabaisse an old 1-star recipe...? Surely no one needs a rotation for that at this point.
