Unless someone wants to make a gathering parser and waste a fuckton of their time getting averages: no one knows.
It should be higher since they have no abilities like MIN/BTN and for the sake of double mooches, but this is SE, so who knows.

Titanic Sawfish laughs at your higher than 15% estimates.
Yes, yes he does.
But it's not the HQ rate that laughs at you as much as it is the silver sharks.
Titanic sawfish and I are pals, only took 2.5 windows for him to show up for me, so don't hate on him! This 20th silver though, I would like to have a word with.
**Three hours later the 20th finally shows![]()
The Matriarch at the exploratory ice hole is going to be the death of me. 8 lost catches tonight.
The Beast of Brewer's Beacon, aka titanic sawfish quest, is there any purpose to this quest other than the title? I had thought it was a prerequisite for big fishing, but from what I'm reading it isn't. A FC member is saying it is needed, so I don't know. The friend I would give the titanic to is able to catch silvers, but maybe the higher tier Big ones need this? Seems really doubtful.
only for title
I don't have the 3000 HQ Fish achievement, so I do have some numbers. Please be aware that these numbers encompass my entire fishing career, and as such, they do not imply that I designed - or intended to design - a proper test.
1) Total Fish Caught
This number can be found on the Fish Guide. I've caught 8,811 fish.
2) Total HQ Fish Caught
There's an achievement for catching 3,000 HQ fish. To find it, look under the Fisher subsection of the Gathering section in the Achievements Log. I don't have this achievement, so my count of HQ fish caught is still ongoing. I've caught 1,676 HQ fish.
Fish Caught: 8,811
HQ Fish Caught: 1,676
Career FSH HQ Rate: 19.02%
For this, I'm assuming that each HQ Fish Caught also counts in the Fish Caught tally. I'm also assuming that mooched fish, while never entering your inventory, also count as Fish Caught. Maybe FSH gets a slight boost in overall HQ Rate since it has no abilities to actively boost HQ chance?
If instead NQ and HQ Fish are tallied separately and must be added together, I have an HQ Rate of 15.98%. This is still roughly in line with MIN and BTN. I suppose I should look into how fish are tallied later, but I should be taking my dog outside and running dungeons. I may or may not remember to look into fish tallies later.
I want to be on whatever server this is

Sort of an insight on what the market will be like in time though I guess... O_o
Please look forward to it.
Desynth question:
I'm currently 72 WVR desynth and i55 desynths (Coronal Straw Hat) are giving me less than a .1 increase, but i70 desynths are only at a 54% success rate (I tried blowing up 6 of these things last night and only succeeded once).
When did you switch from i55 desynths to i70 desynths, and is there anything classified as something in-between (besides i60 dungeon gear)? I suspect the suggestion will be to stick with i55 desynths for a while because it's so cheap. If that is the case, when did you switch to i70 desynths?
At those prices there's no real good reason not to upgrade the weapons, honestly.
FC3 still 300k here and MC at about 200k now.
I can't speak for weaver specifically, but I swapped to i70 stuff on GSM around that level. The key is to choose an item with 2 materia slots and to meld 3-4 cheap materia onto it for a 5% boost per materia. Bonus points for using an item without an intermediate part (lining, clasps, etc) and as few different parts as possible to maximize the chance of getting the seal/philo item back.
Hmm, I was attempting to desynth i70 PvP belts to test with. Thankfully those also have materia slots, so I'll give that a shot.
I don't have any particular money-making endgame in mind with this at the moment, so I am hesitant to blow millions on philo mats, especially if I'm getting into this as potential money-makers are about to tank as shown above.
True, I was lucky to grab a decent stock of philo mats before they spiked. I don't pvp, but that definitely seems like a cheaper path if you want to invest the time.
Wow I completely forgot about pvp gear to desynth, I got mad at how much it was costing me and desynthed all my titan/mog weapons at like 58%. Almost a waste but got lucky with some demi. Need to go and buy up all the i70 crap i can desynth now.
