So far, I've been using a similar rotation to what I do for HQ'ing 3* stuff, but I haven't been able to get very good HQ %'s with it so far. Yesterday I HQ'd a Kirimu Coat for an FC member at around 30%, but then NQ'd a Wootz Mail that I was going to sell at 47%... @_@

After looking at it, I just realized I only have a potential maximum of 8 stacks for Inner Quiet. I've also been using HQ Bouillabaisse. I'm not sure if I want to use Rapid Synthesis in my rotations, but if it'll give me better chances at HQ's, I'll have to experiment with it.

I'm late to the de-synth train:

Are there any fish worth de-synthing solely for crystals/shards?

Unless you're hardcore into fishing and want to be able to desynth the rare fish for stuff like the Assassin Fry minion, I wouldn't bother leveling CUL desynth.

Back when 2.3(?) and desynthesis first came out, I intentionally hoarded up a ton of fish for it because I was hoping that it'd be similar to how ALC could turn various fish and other critters into shards back in 1.0. From my experience burning through everything I had, the vast majority of the time, you'll be getting either Water Shards/Crystals, pigments, or Fine Sand. Earth Shards only come from dunefishing, and Wind Shards only from skyfishing; I have yet to see any of the other 3 elements. I go through Fire and Wind Shards more than anything else, and I don't see any point in farming Wind Shards through skyfishing, lol.

If you do a lot of CUL or ALC synths, I guess it could be worth it, but I ended up resetting my CUL desynth and replaced it with LTW because I thought I could get more use out of it, and so far, I have. Of course, this could change in future patches.

Also, keep in mind that I usually buy my shards because I can often times go through a thousand or so in a day, and trying to actually farm them takes WAAAAAY longer to replace them.

SF provides a 14~18CP boost, so that's 25~29CP short compared to Bouilla.
But if we can skip IG2, that's 32CP we don't need, which makes it a fair tradeoff I think.

You're giving up 2-3 remaining turns of IG2 for a net gain of 3 CP. I don't think that's a good tradeoff, at all.

With IG2, you can finish a 4* at 50dura/113CP with the following:

SH2, HT, IG2, HT, GS, BB, CS2, CS2

That allows you to get IG2 on a high-IQ HT and your final BB. That is not worth giving up for a 3 CP gain.

The thing is that you lose 32 CP from doing IG2 (and you lose a valuable Xclass skill) so you only gain 11 CP from using Bouillas.

There is no real gain in Xclass if you have to equip RS in place of IG2.

I am somewhat shocked that the quality gain on IG2+BB is so cavalierly discarded.

Trying to figure out the best way to meld my offhand, I know I need 15 craft but what else? Was thinking maybe: craftsman's command IV x2 for the first 2 slots then craftsman's competence III x3. Would I be better with CP?

Piece by Piece x2 puts you at 322/586 (264 remaining)
Careful Synthesis II = 63, IG2+CS2 = 69
Standard Synthesis = 79, IG2+SS = 87
Rapid Synthesis = 132, IG2+RS = 145

PbPx2 + CS2x2 + [IG2+CS2]x2 = 586 on the nose

CP and control leftover would be safe bet. Personally all of my Artisan offhands just have craft16 (for some reason).

For what it's worth, playing with simulator shows that 526 craftsmanship is the breakpoint for when you can do PBP x3, Ing1 CS2 x3 on the token synths for 4* books. This is barely attainable with FC craft buff, HQ Shark Fin Soup, and a very craft-heavy offhand. So not all that usable.

Something maybe a bit more promising is: 4* minimums and 355 CP using NQ shark fin soup: gets to 496 craft, 407 control, 369 CP. Can do PBP x2, Rapid x2, CS2 x1. No Ing2. A rotation I mocked up using WN2, requires 2 tricks at some point: http://www.ffxivcrafter.com/crafting...tor&guid=cbbFr

12 Hasty chances though at least 1 will be unbuffed. Might not be new as I'm a slow turtle.

PbPx3 + CS2x3 is promising, but it's the same durability cost and you're essentially giving up IG2 on your GS+BB for an extra 17 CP (PbP vs IG2).

That isn't exactly a slam dunk either way.

Don't know why so many people blow 18CP on Innovation... Is there something I don't know about it? Seems pretty shit. If you're sitting on 1000+ (I don't even know what number) control at the end of your synth, is another 200 control really going to add that much?

Edit: All I can figure is you're doing it at the end to basically fish around for a Good/Excellent to use your Byregots on, which makes sense.

It's cheap and if you have no other CCs worth setting it's the first thing I'd put back in (though I also rarely use it).

@Judah's rotation: I don't like only 8 hasty chances I can appreciate making a rotation that is not reliant on TotT to finish, but personally I have never not had at least one Good per synth.

I'll try to get an infograph up of my rotation sometime today if I'm not lazy.

Looking at the calculators, at 10 stacks of IQ, Innovation is a 14~% increase of quality gained on your GSBB. Comparatively, ING2 costs a little less than double and increased the GSBB gains by 12~%(4 stat of course). If any of you real mathematicians come up with different numbers, feel free to correct me.

Sorry but I dont see you hitting 100% with that rotation reliably. I know the rotation changes depending on your ToT procs but i think you just got lucky. I am also not a fan on too much RNG on the progress steps but maybe thats just me.

I personally use something like this:

http://link.ffxivcrafter.com/?id=cbb9x 459 Craft, 347 CP total, ToT proc during the first SH2

If you get crazy lucky with ToT procs at the right time you can use WN2 instead of WN1.
With some extra CP you can either uses Basic instead of Hasty Touch near the end, use SH for the Byregots or just use Observe to get a higher chance on a good/excellence for your finish.
The two CS2 can also be replaced by one Rapid if you feel like gambling.

Does this website not calculate IG2 for quality? I'm moving the IG2 around and the quality rating is not changing.
