I don't think they always get the balance right but GSM and CUL both do pretty well honestly. I think ALC could use some help for sure and don't know enough about CRP really to comment.

ALC was propped up by Terminus Putty in 2.2; CUL was propped up by Spicy Tomato Relish in 2.3. Without those two specific items, both of those classes would have also been trash-tier.
CRP has WVR/GSM offhands and Artisan shoes in 2.4, so not quite as one-dimensional this patch. I'd say WVR/LTW/GSM are the holy trinity for both crafting and desynth.
Depending on if craftable weapons become a relevant thing to do, ALC may see continued use since books are always ALC and Astrologian is probably ALC for the same reason books are.
More worried about desynth going forward, if synths rely on continued desynth progression too.
atm for 2.4 ...making millions per day selling the items for relic (all 8 crafted items 3 star) using NQ mats/farmed myself (and easy to HQ with 4 star crafting ability/geared up to), stuff sells every 15-30min or faster at times (some people buy all 8 items at once) >.>
Probably the biggest money makers of the 2.. are the alchemy and cooking, which requires 3 star fish... not too many do fishing + have 4star capable cook, much less alchemy and the stuff is very easy to HQ!
There was a lot of crying from folks about how crafting in XI was unique and specialised whereas in XIV anyone could could anything thus lowering overall value of crafters. Severall PLLs back, Yoshida mentioned that they might be introducing 'Professions' in 3.0, basically crafting's version of Jobs so that people can specialise.
So if you want to blame anybody, blame the fuckwads from XI.
Unless they start making crafting....matter it's all pretty "whatevs" from a balance perspective.
People gotta get their glamours...!
Then of course hardcore raiders on new content need it HQ'ed right away to zerg new raid content...
and now relic stuff.
If they start making it to where you can get.. gear equal to raid content via specialization.. then i can see it being very good (for that crafter) not so good for anyone else
Specialized crafting isn't too bad, having played several other MMO's that effectively lock you into a craft... unless its making something necessary like endgame raid gear, actually useful stuff like ... potions (that are actually good!) and food... it won't really matter too much. (you can always make alts to cover the other craft specializations).
Of course, each new patch of gear... prices are going to be ass raping insane no matter what (a bit longer with specialization though)!
Either way, I'm sure those XI people crying about lack of specialized crafting, will be crying when they see their glamour being sold by 2 people in the 8mil range for a month because no one else can craft it.
Outside of glamours, any other thoughts of new synths? Artist bodies?
Artisan body seems likely, maybe 110 trinkets too.
I was told that it was confirmed during the fan fest we would be getting Artisan Bodies. I don't have a link to the information so I'm not sure how credible it is, but at the very least it makes sense to see new chest pieces in 2.5
Oh god I hope not. Supras weren't all that long ago. Feels a bit fast to see main hand progression again so soon.
Supra's were added in 2.3, about... half a year ago, I hope its been awhile long enough O_o

Just to be on the side of caution, stock up on those mc/oaknots~ maybe field t3 too x: Can't think of what else to hold onto unless it requires new mats from 4* items
Only expecting the artistan body for sure atm, but I did save up several dozen FC3's and MC's just in case (although if MC price goes up for artistan body, I'm selling it all!). Recently finished "dailying" all my oaknuts and saving up a few more for body + potential other items.
Artisan body, new crafting rings and possibly even higher mainhands but I doubt it.
Dat feeling when you get all battle dailies:

All new i60 right sides, everything caps only 1 more than i55 and will require millions in melds each.
Oh boy!
recall them saying they're adding another "easier to get" set of gear that doesn't take MC/Sealant or something. probably see that too (unsure what they can do with stats. things like forager legs and feet are already such tiny upgrades that they'd need to buff those to make a mid tier set work)
