Adding an i55 shared set that requires less melding would be something they could do, since you only need that and the i70 mainhand to do 3*.

Not sure what they could fit between the super cheap and easy i55, and the multi million gil currently on market i60
Then again I feel like they won't touch the left side (except for added artistan body) and add i60.. easy? recipes on right side.
Whatever it is, I hope it doesn't require a crap load of sealents... >.>
I don't mind FC3/Master materia, I can farm it over time... where as sealents are gated.. or spend a ton >.>
You know each of us are going to take the abuse and drop all the gil into it right?
I will drop money into a plane ticket and picket yoshida's house if they give us more right side shit with a single socket.
To be fair it's not like you NEED to have everything crazy max melded, people just OCD about it.
And SE goddamn knows it.
nope...!
I spent my quality.. 130? ish days of ixtal dailies (60% of which I had saved up because I was thinking I may need it one day) farming all them sealents, so spent a total of maybe 100K to craft all i70 offhands for crafting/gathering and the entire sets of crafting/gathering >.>
You literally need maximum craftsmanship melds everywhere but offhand (where you only need to meld CRF+15) in order to be able to attempt a 4-star synth without temporary buffs.
That doesn't account for the materia to meld into them.
Besides, as crafters we all understand opportunity cost: every MC, FC3, sealant, and materia we burned making our own gear are items that we otherwise could have sold for profit (or crafted and sold, if you prefer). I was sitting on a few million gil worth of hoarded materia myself, but that didn't make it "free materia."
I mean, it's possible to HQ 4* synths without supra and max melded gear. But here's the problem: this approach requires craftsmanship boosts from Chilled Popoto Soup or Shark Fin Soup, and possibly even FC buffs to address insufficient control. With 4* crafting, though, the loss of HQ Bouillabaisse's CP boost can doom most 4* synths to NQ.
4* crafting and Fishing are the hardcore endgames right now. Max melding is absolutely required for best results.
Wow, I still use chilled popoto in my setup. I dont even think +3 crafts from x3 Craft IV on offhand can change that.
I was going to try to build a 4* CUL. I went with the standard HQ Artisan offhand with CTL+4/CRF+15/CP+3 melds. I only had one CRF+6 meld on my i55 CUL AF body, and after adding another T4 CRF materia, the remaining meld (T2 CRF) was ridiculously expensive, so I figured I'd just do my CTL melds for slots 3&4 and then do a cheap CRF T1 for the last slot.
Little did I realize that having Artisan hands/legs/feet (instead of AF) does precisely dick for your CRF rating and you absolutely need max melds in body or you will require food/FC buffs to attempt 4*. So I pretty much ruined my body piece because I didn't think ahead. (Luckily I had not used the Artisan knife and I was able to get out from underneath it, while roughly breaking even on the whole deal.)
I max melded on cheap materia just so I can do 4★
For now, I just take the super long method (which is usually about 40-50 steps) and requires CP food, and can at times end up with near or at 100% 4 star.
If I'm crafting food though, no fucks given, just try a little and see what I get...! O_o (gotta make use of that NQ food for raiding !)
So I'm working on my WVR Supra and was lucky to get my friend to craft a HQ artisan offhand. What are the best melds for that if I want to plan ahead for 4 star crafts?
Control IV, Craft III x4, CP 3 is what I melded all of mine for. End up with 451 Craft / 413 Control / 355 CP.
Craft could go higher with IV or be replaced with more control in offhand, but to maximize chances it'll never be remelded for future content unless new off hands come out soon, that is what I put in.
If you get your Supra, Echatl Smithing Gloves, and max-meld your class-specific gear and Dodore accessories, you'll have 434-436 Craftsmanship and 403 Control. Going to the Artisan's Slops and Sandals brings that to 434-436 Craftsmanship and 409 Control. You need at least 451 Craftsmanship and 407 Control to attempt 4-star recipes, and there's a useful Progress threshold at 453 Craftsmanship (1 PbP, 2 Rapid, 2 Careful, which saves 10 dur and Ing II over every alternative).
So, the first question is how much do you want to invest? If you're not planning to craft with that class very often, you can just get to 407 Control and use Chilled Potopo (+47) or Shark Fin Soup (+61) to close the gap on Craftsmanship. This costs 25 CP, but for stuff like BSM where you may not be as bothered by NQ, it's worth considering. In this case, you can offhand meld for +4 Control and leave it, or do a short-term meld for +3 CP, +2 Control, +2 Control.
The next option is whether you've got Artisan shoes and legs. If you *do*, getting +5 Craft, +5 Craft, +5 Craft, +3 CP, +3 Craft works wonders. If you don't, you need at least 4 Control and at least 17 Craftsmanship on the offhand.
Yerp :u was still laying in bed when I made that.
