You think it's possible, with the huge crafts boost from Lucis, to get an offhand that's melded in control instead of craftsmanship, since you'll still be hitting the minimum 452 req for 4*?

I'm not sure why that's a question.
As long as you have the 451(*) Craftsmanship for 4 stars then....yea....you can meld whatever you want to your offhand.
You'll probably regret it when the next tier of recipes with higher craftsmanship requirements come around tho.
You're going to regret it either way since you'll have to pentameld a brand new offhand again in order to do them anyway.![]()
You can hit the 4* requirements (451 Crafts, 407 Control) with a Lucis, artisan offhand, and artisan i60 gear, before even melding the chest or offhand (460 Craftsmanship, 420 Control, with space for +43 Crafts and +20 Control). Unless you're looking at one of the other Craftsmanship targets, and as far as I can tell, 453 is the only really valuable reasonable one, you should vastly prefer Control or CP.
Finally managed to turn in my Master II tokens. I 'get' it now but god they were horrible. How hard are the turn in items for the Lucis in comparison?
Awesome, thank you!
How do you know if "Brand of wind" will work on a craft?
It'll say it in the description of the craft what affinity the craft is if any(at work so can't take a pic), and the obvious ones that make use of an "element affinity" are the primal weapons.

Garuda = wind, ifrit = fire... etc O_o
I like to think of it as a "head start" into crafting Lv 51+ stuff... easier
If they go wow mode expansion method, the "endgame" gear should be good, till around lv 56-58ish range, where as the "lower tier" stuff tends to last till maybe 52-54.
Considering this will be FFXIV's first expansion (excluding 1.0->2.0) we won't know though, other then FFXIV's been following in wows footsteps , but I'd like to think of it as possible future proofing for recipes done easier in 3.0
I think in the context that Baelfael is talking about there's not much future proofing to be done. When the lv cap raises there's no way new recipes between 50 and 60 will require the best possible melds or same stats will be available from new gear, i.e. for the new leveling experience you don't have to worry that much about the perfect stats I believe.
I more feel that we'll probably get some craftable tools/gear along the way to 60 that will either surpass or be on par with what we're at now. Would seem pretty dumb to release a level cap increase and yet not have to update gear until practically the next tier of end-game.
On an additional note: FFXIV has been taking pages from multiple successful MMOs; not just WoW.
I wouldn't be surprised to see SE add a higher-tier of 4* synths in 2.52. Something that requires approximately 475 craftsmanship. At that time, though, I don't know what would actually be useful. Vanity equips, I guess?
EDIT: And I agree with Gulk in regards to 3.0 crafting. Well-geared crafters will certainly have an advantage out of the gate. I mean, I certainly couldn't umagine i90 - i100 battle classes being on equal footing with i120 - i130 battle classes upon 3.0's release.
Not expecting any harder crafts, only the possibility of new right side accessories maybe... but I feel that those would be near pointless by 2.51 B patch which is like 1 month before the expansion... or something O_o
Considering how easy it is to HQ 4stars with lucis tools, unless its a 40 durability craft with actual 4 star craft difficulty/progress/quality, not expecting anything harder according to what yoshi P said during fan fest i think it was, that "current" 4 star crafting is like the "hardest" crafts for 2.X
Also, pics of "affinity"

No, please god no. No more of those nasty 40dura synths. After breezing through 4* tokens and HQing 4* synths with ease, those lucis tokens bitchslapped me.
They aren't too costly though, except they can burn away your clusters if you get a streak of bad luck. Just for the hell of it, working on getting all the tools since I make gil from 3* craft sales in obscene massive amounts, making it even easier to HQ in the long run its going to mean easier profits (especially when someone actually tries to buy out what I'm selling by buying up a few million in things I sell).
Also like how hilariously large the tools are, too bad the craft table isn't massive (and colored) also >.>
I plan on getting all of the tools as well, especially when they're going to allow me to complete 4-star synths more efficiently. The steps required to get them aren't too time consuming either, maybe a few hours per tool depending on how you're getting your moonstones and other mats. In comparison to previous patches that released new tools I don't consider them that bad, not when this is probably the best overall upgrade to the mainhand we've had since Quest tools>artisan.
Also, while we don't know if they'll be useful for 3.0 I'd rather get them done before then.
So I just ranked up to Honored for Ixal, but the Ixali vendor NPC still says I'm Respected. I can't buy sealants, which I assume I have to be Honored to unlock. I need to wait for the day to reset maybe?
Anyone experienced this?
