    Revese Bank Overdraft?

I was out making a few trip to Home Depot to buy some stuff for home projects, and didn't notice I didn't have enough money in the bank to cover everything. Since I open the account with Wells Fargo I didn't opt-in for the Overdraft Protection, so normally as i remembered a few months back, my card would just get declined as there's not enough fund.

But now it went through and the bank been charging me $25-$35 / overdraft..which piled up to over $100..Is there anyway I can reverse these charges since it's seem fucking stupid to just hand money over the bank like this..Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can call them and tell them what happened. Some banks give you a once a year fuck up credit to use for cases like this.

What happens is when you run your card sometimes the transaction is listed as pending and could take a day or two to go through. (Gas stations are notorious for this fyi.) So while that money doesn't get counted, it "thinks" you have money, but once all those pending payments finally go through, you get overdrafted. Banks make billions of dollars a year doing this (I shit you not, this is one of their main sources of money.)

There really is no reason to not get overdraft protection as the fees are smaller.

If this is your first time overdrafting (or you haven't done it in awhile) they will often reverse it. I'd call them instead of going to an actual bank as banking centers take a hit towards their monthly goals whenever they reverse fees, so they are usually less inclined to do them.

Wells Fargo? You're probably boned. Those guys are retarded assholes. But in general, you can, as mentioned, get them reversed. Get ODP.

Good luck! Some banks' entire business model is built on raking money out of people who don't have any, and you've with the worst of them (Followed by BoA and USBank). Also, never let them schedule payments for you, because they love to make those exempt from overdraft opt-out.

Why the fuck are you using a bank? Find a local Credit Union, better service, lower fees, and they're not actively looking to screw you over.

To try and be more helpful, recent~ish (the last 3-4 years) regulations have required that you actively opt in for overdraft protection. Since you say that you opted out of the overdraft protection I would ask them to show you the document you signed opting in. If they can't provide the signed document then demand that the reverse all the fees and remove the overdraft protection from your account, don't be afraid to complain up the management ladder either.

Just be careful. They'll try and make you open 123879129372 savings accounts. DO NOT OPEN ANY. Mabye 1 but still. Shitheads charge 5$ a month for dipshit maintenance fees.

I have one. That's all you need. But they'll still try and talk me into opening up another freaking savings account.

This. The peace of mind of knowing you aren't being nickel and dimed and constantly screwed is worth the trade off of having to pay an extra couple bucks for using an out of network ATM when you travel.

If you look around enough, you will find a CU that contracts with vendors like Interlink, Plus and Co-Op Networks. Most ATMs inside 7-11, Plaid Pantry, Smiths, Maverick, etc. are part of these networks and waive ATM fees for CU members. In all my travels since I have been with my CU I have never paid any sort of fee...except that one time when I was charged twice for a $700 purchase on Amazon, but that was fixed and Amazon paid the fee for me.

Moral of the story: Don't use banks for anything but a good source of scandalous headlines on news websites.

Wells Fargo is one of the worst. Go to a credit union. Oh, and learn to keep a checking register if you cannot keep the available balance in your head (or just enroll in overdraft protection - it's free).

Wells Fargo said it is reducing its workforce by 2,300 employees because of rising interest rates and declines in mortgage refinancing.

"Yesterday, at locations across the country, we provided a 60-day notice of displacement to approximately 2,300 mortgage team members," the financial firm said Thursday in a prepared statement.

Wells Fargo (WFC, Fortune 500) said it was culling its staff as "the result of less mortgage refinancing volume than we experienced through 2012 and early 2013."

Wells Fargo spokesman Alfredo Padilla said the reductions include 291 jobs in Tempe, Ariz., but would not specify any other locations affected.

Related: Mortgage rate climb to two-year high

Mortgage rates have been volatile over the past year. The average rate of a 30-year mortgage hit a two-year high of 4.58% this week, according to Freddie Mac, after slumping to 3.35% in May, which is one of the lowest rates on record. The average 30-year rate bottomed out at 3.31% in November of 2012, which was an all-time low.

Padilla would not say how many total people the company employs.

Local banks are decent, too. You get to know the people there, and its easier to have shit like this fixed.
