    Multiple computers + TV output

I have two desktops in my apartment and one 51" TV. Each desktop has its own monitor, but I download and watch shows on this computer and would like to watch them on the TV if possible (I was using PS3 Media Server but that hasn't been working for me for months) and my girlfriend would like to play from the bed if possible, since currently we're both crammed on one computer desk for two computers. I was wondering what the best way to fix this is, if it's possible. I envision a scenario where I can change output/input option somewhere, either through remote, physically moving a USB device around or some such thing, and be able to use either computer to display its content on the TV. Is there some box that does exactly this, somewhere? And a recommendation for a wireless keyboard/mouse option? I think this is a rather neat thing to potentially wirelessly play on my computer with the TV as output, potentially cheaper than a full keyboard/mouse wireless option as well.

What input methods does the TV have, and what output methods to the computers have? Most TVs that size have multiple HDMI inputs, and most desktops with anything other than onboard video have HDMI as well. Some TVs have VGA input too, so a less robust computer might be able to connect that way.

Other than direct connections, you could try something like this. They make them for pretty much everything. HDMI, VGA, DVI, printers, USB, whatever. If that isn't what you want, just search on newegg for (desired input method) AB switch.

That might be exactly what I'm looking for, my only question then is how does it work if a video card has two cables connected to it? Will it always function as if it's a dual monitor split screen? Or can I get my computer to easily/instantly only utilize one of the outputs? If the latter all I would need is some cables and that switch making this only a $15-20 project, which would be great.

My TV Inputs: Include 2 HDMI (rear), 1 composite (rear), 2 component video (rear) and shared component/composite audio.

My computer has two DVI ports and the other computer has 1 DVI, 1 HDMI and 1 VGA port.

Ethernet connection can also work, if available for your TV.

I did that for my setup, and it allows me to stream video from any computer on my home network to the TV, even at HD. I think I remember it being as simple as plug'n'play too.

Only downside is that it has to be a specific file format (AVI, Mp4), but you can easily find freeware to convert formats if necessary.

With those inputs, assuming they're all available, the easiest thing to do is buy this for your desktop and connect both computers to the HDMI inputs. All you need to do to switch between yours and your wife's desktop with HDMI1 and HDMI2.

By default, your computers will always have both monitors active. That can be changed tho by right clicking the desktop, then clicking screen resolution. The dropdown menu labelled "Multiple Displays:" will allow you to turn off the TV output, if you so desire. You'll probably have to play with the zoom and aspect ratio a little to get the TV to look right, but it'll work.
