What's it called when someone tells different things to different people to find out who is a spy/snitch. Does this have some technical term? Was just wondering for something I'm writing. I'm not secretly a ww2 general or some shit.

A canary trap is a method for exposing an information leak by giving different versions of a sensitive document to each of several suspects and seeing which version gets leaked.
