Yes, for a couple of days. I think in 2010 I must have used a different square enix account for FFXIV than I did with my FFXI one. No matter, SE deserves my extra 30 dollars for the unprecedented effort of rewriting a game from scratch! And I would rather keep all my games under one account anyway.
Is anyone able to log in right now? Im keep getting the 1017 Error Server is Full

What is the limit on number of characters in a typical MMO server anyway? I have always been curious about that.
5-6k, seems to be 20-30 people per XIV server though.
I cleared all the aethernet locations in Gridania and got a text box in all japanese stating the usual entrance gates were now unlocked.
Any idea when they will allow character creation on said servers?
nevermind working as intended

[Current Known Issues]
-The experience points obtained when creating a Level 50 Recipe is lower than the expected amount.
http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...1308da98f95947We would like to thank you for your continued support of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn.
Since the start of early access on Saturday, August 24th, an enormous amount of users have been logging in to the game. As such, the number of users logging in has been increasing at a rate that is much higher than what we had originally anticipated. To ensure that we maintain a quality level of service for everyone, we have been setting restrictions on both the creation of characters as well as adjusting the number of users that are able to log in. We are well aware that these restrictions are a source of frustration for our users who are waiting to play.
To address this matter, we are currently working on introducing new Worlds and enhancing the performance of the login and match making processes on both the Japanese and North American & European data centers. This operation is expected to be completed at the beginning of next week.
Until this operation is complete, we would like to prioritize the quality of service for those who have already purchased the game. Therefore, we are temporarily suspending the sale of the digital download versions of FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn. Once the operation has been completed, the sale of the digital download version will resume.
While the operation is in progress, we will continue to apply restrictions on both the creation of characters and the ability to log into the game. Throughout this time, we will be offering constant updates on the progress of the operation.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this causes our users and humbly request your understanding.
Ceo must be pissed, have to stop selling his company's game because his producer doesn't have the foresight to be prepared for this problem, and his developers work slower then molasses.
You know yoshi p is passing around a first world problem meme that says "My game is so amazing *tear* that I had to stop selling it".
That seems a bit backwards to me. (O.o) Wouldn't it be that Yoshi P must be angry because the company hadn't the foresight to purchase additional servers for the new datacenters?
I know folks forget this periodically, but Yoshi P does not run Square Enix. o.0 He has superiors to answer to as much as anyone else. Why assume that the problem is an error on Yoshi P's part, when up to this point in time, everything GOOD with this game has been Yoshi P's influence, whereas all the complaints about tidbits on the side - payment, websites, customer support and such have been the usual SE suspects?
Oh nice, we've reached the opposite spectrum of the Tanaka era.
Yoshi-P is in charge of the entire project - including payments, cs, website. He has massive influence over every part of the project. If he was too busy "testing" PvP with the top management while letting the website team rampage freely, it's his goddamn responsibility when shit hits the fan.
We don't have to go full retard with this like in the Tanaka era.
Apparently producers aren't responsible for the game they produce.
*shrug*
He has a boss, just like anyone else. Sarcasm doesn't change the fact that sometimes, foremen/supervisors/producers are overruled by the folks in the boardroom. I should know, it happens to me periodically, the guy who ostensibly runs everything gets orders handed down that do not always make sense, and that guy has to comply.
That's the workplace for you.
You don't know for sure why they had too few servers, and neither do I. The only difference between us is that I am more apt to blame the devil we know than the guy turning the company around, which strikes me as, if not a certainty, then at least feasible.
It would behoove you to stop posting in superlatives while complaining about superlatives. O.o Just a thought, there.
