    with Tabard: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/P9JN
If you already have pentamelded Kirimu Coat (with t4s) and don't care enough to farm for the tabard: http://ffxiv.ariyala.com/P9JM

Nearly identical stats, Tabard gives additional vit/more mdef and def and Dex but loses out on slightly less crit and det. This is great news for anyone not wanting to dump potentially 10m+ into pentamelding with tier 4s since the two

Why would they stop? It's an important issue for BRD that's constantly being discussed and debated.

Because they're inferior. You can discuss how inferior all you want (consensus seems to be "inferior, but not by much"), but for the type of people who go above and beyond to min/max stats, it is always a surprise to see so many jump onto the macro wagon.

Do monks still talk about macros?

I never have used macros and am adamantly against using them because of the reasons you listed, but I'm pretty sure the poster I quoted uses them and made that comment to infer that using them is fine. However, I may be mistaken. I was merely stating I think it will be a point of discussion on BRD for a good while, whereas as you correctly stated, it's unlikely for jobs like MNK.

And to think I was insulted for pointing out that macroing Bard is inferior to playing it without (assuming a certain level of skill) months ago

There's only like 2 things to macro anyway? Bloodletter and Misery?

I generally use macros when learning a fight and then once I have the fight down I switch back to manual. Or sometimes I'll use macros if I'm like half watching TV / talking whilst playing in shit that doesn't matter.

Basically macros are lazy mode but any player who is remotely skilled / cares about their top end DPS should do it manually. The difference isn't all that huge though, like you're talking 1%, maybe 2% at a push, so it really depends just how much you care.

Just dinged 50 on BRD (as my first job to 50) and completed the main story line up through ultima weapon. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but at this point I believe it's best to complete each of the high level dungeons to unlock Duty Roulette: High Level and then spam them for Soldiery and Poetics so I can move past Ul'dahn and Flame gear? If this is correct, what should I prioritize in terms of gear from the tomestones? I took my first look at Auriana and Aelina's gear lists and became confused as hell with where to start lol. Main weapon is Flame Lieutenant's Bow at the moment. Thanks!

Soldiery has no weekly cap, the gear it buys is i100 and can be upgraded to i110 with sands/oils of time.

Poetics has a 450 weekly cap, the gear it buys is i120 and upgrades to 130 with carbontwine/carboncoat.

I'd recommend starting the CT quests asap, run CT till you have enough gear to meet the ilvl req for ST, run ST till you meet the ilvl req for WoD, then run WoD for gear and tomes.

Dungeons are pretty unnecessary, CT/ST/WoD all give both kinds of tomes and WoD drops the highest ilvl gear outside of coil (120, can't be upgraded).

Can worry about dungeons later, ride the CT-ST-WoD train, make sure you do the weekly quest in rev toll after you finish WoD and cap your weekly poetics before reset.

Get an unidentified tomestone from ST and save up 1300 soldiery to buy a Rosenbogen (i100 bow) and use a sand from ST to upgrade it to 110, that'll hold you till you figure out what else you wanna do.

No reason to worry about the MSQ or dungeons really, they're just a way to farm tomes but the gear they drop isn't useful.

This is perfect and exactly what I needed to get started. Thank you.

Oh and there's no accessories from CT/ST/WoD so you'll have to pick those up from soldiery/poetics (poetics being more precious since they're still gated, but the necklace and ring are good buys for BRD).

Can anyone message me their BRD parses for T13 (or all turns if you want). Preferably someone who feels they are pushing the top end of what BRD can do. The full party damage screen and then the outgoing damage screen just for the BRD (the numbers not pie chart) is what I'm looking for. (EDIT: Just for clarification I want a full duration unmerged parse.)

I want to compare my parse against other BRDs to see if there's anywhere I can improve. As I know I am ever so slightly behind what some people have stated their BRD's do in those turns. Basically I went with my static at the weekend and then another group as a helper where kill times were virtually identical. So I was able to do the comparisons for people in my static, made me curious about doing a comparison for myself but I had nothing to compare against.

I have parses for myself both with and without a DRG so you don't need to worry about that.

    Thanks in advance!

Nobody has one? I didn't receive anything.

Basically I'm trying to work out what I do differently to the elite BRD's as on those Death and Taxes leaderboards my BRD falls between 4th and 6th compared to their 17 BRD's on the various turns. So I'm losing DPS somewhere (497 (6) / 478 (4) / 467 (4) / 445 (6) are where I would slot in on their leaderboards)

DPS Leaderboards... lol. Set your timeout delay low and then merge the fight. That'll bring you up a bit.

Thats what I'm looking at. It explicitly says no unmerged parses and 30 seconds delay. So I know it's not that

EDIT: I don't care so much about winning parses, I care more about there being something I could do differently to improve my damage.

I mean, it depends on so many things, on T13. First off, who of these have DRGs? Do they pop the Shadow and kill it during divebombs? etc.

I don't know these things which is why I was asking for parses from top brds so I could see whether it's their strategy / setup that was the difference maker or if they were doing something different to me

Most recent one I have from a farm session two weeks ago. I'm not the bard, so I can't give specifics on what he does. During the second phase the SCH (me) doesn't DPS so we didn't kill the final Shadow during divebombs. Goad went to the higher DPS bard. Not our usual setup because I wanted to go SCH to get light for my book. Hope it helps.

Probably help if you provide more information.
Can't really tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us what you are doing.

You can't reasonably compare you own parses in pugs vs CL's leaderboard. They could possibly have stacked the fight for the those numbers (no song, NIN, DRG, high multi-dot uptime) or just their general high raid dps means they can minimise downtime from mechanics and have a higher buff uptime. Those leaderboards are also a result of weeks and weeks of runs, cherry-picking only the best numbers, the people high on the leaderboard are guaranteed to have good RNG (crits/procs/fight mechanics).

I do believe BRD BiS involves a good amount of crafted gear, which it doesn't look like you have. If you really want to know what DnT bard's are doing, have a look around for videos from their players from either their youtube channel or twitch channels, you'd probably won't find too much different, just they execute well consistently throughout the fight.

Thanks, that actually helps a lot. His skillmap is extremely similar to mine except he hits slightly harder and slightly more despite a faster killspeed. So I assume that's a result of A. Having a NIN, B. Less sing bitching (I'm always requieming or ballading) and C. Possibly slightly better gear. Maybe not having a BLM AoE'ing down the add gauntlet helps his damage too since there's only a fixed amount of damage to be split in that set time but unsure on that one.

And yeah I realise those leaderboards will be stacked and their best performance. But from looking at the parse, job set-up and ability set-up I can kind of see what they would be doing different to me if anything.
