So yesterday in Coil Turn4, before last dreadnought, I pop a DEX potion (can't remember what kind, probably not Mega, like +20 or so DEX let's say), and all of a sudden, my Bloodletter resets every 0.5s like ... 5 times in a row. It was disturbing to say the least ! I'm guessing someone has already tried to see if there wasn't something about DEX and Crit. at very high values of DEX?

Just picked up my BRD legs, can't wait to try these bad boys out, upgrading from Toxotes so the jump is hooge.
Heros Wrists look like absolute garbage unless I'm missing something. I might need the accuracy later maybe, but I'm way over cap currently.

hmm how is Allagan better than AF2 Head?

The only Allagan armor piece that's actually better is probably the feet (determination instead of skill speed)

For my Wrists I use Acc+10(3+2), Crit+3(2 Capped), Vit+3, Det+3. It's to keep the accuracy up with the gear set I chose. Which is 481 Acc which is enough for coil.

Like above, with the gear set chosen it keeps the accuracy above 480 for coil. So I'd gladly lose 6 Crit for the Acc. That is if you choose:

    Allagan Head
    AF2 Body
    AF2 Hands
    Heros Waist
    AF2 Legs
    Allagan Feet

Heros Wrists, Ring, Ears and Waist
    Allagan Ring & Neck

This would end up at ~ 481 Accuracy for coil, 525 Crit Chance(More than enough), 258 Det, 410 Skill Speed, 497 Dex which is 497 Attack power. If anyone have anything better, lmk. I'm at 508 crit right now and I crit pretty often, couldn't even imagine 525. :D

475 is probably fine for coils. I hate sitting at 518 right now ... but not much I can do about it until coil drops more BRD stuff and ... mytho cap.

You could always eat some deviled eggs. Or wear a different neck piece, perhaps melded gryphonskin?

Oh more than likely, but with food(I always use deviled in coil) I'll be sitting at 544 Crit Hit Chance, it's more than enough. This is just a quick outline tho, still need to get Allagan to drop and also need to win on it so yeah. The heros accs will more than likely be my last pieces I do tbh, so I'll prob switch around a lot during that time. But what I listed is my goal right now. Just picked up the legs and can get the heros ring next week. Then I'll prob do the waist I think, depends cause not sure If I should take waist over DL or Wrists/Ring over 5 melded Spinels. I know Heros vs DL the waist is the best, so I'll prob just go for that.

Melded HQ Gryphonskin is probably the best for Neck/Wrist/Ring2. You're looking at... at least 6750 philo tomes for that though. With relic+1, full relic, allagan feet, Hero's waist/ear/ring, and melded HQ gryphon neck/wrist/ring2 I would end up at 479acc and 550crit before food. (Moon Miqo'te)

Maybe I'll have that by the time my 90day subscription ends.

Wouldn't your DEX be on the low side with Gryphonskin stuff?

HQ gryphonskin has the same DEX as darklight gear. The advantage is you can load it up with some VIT which doesn't exist on non tank gear accessories as well as load it up with 2 additional secondary stats with quintamelds

True, I seem to forget how much my HP will drop when I get rid of these 5 melded rings, neck and wrist. <.<

Compared to Hero wrist and Allagan Neck/Ring2, you'll be down 12 dex (4 per). But with proper melds you'll be up 4 acc, 25 crit, at least 14 det, and potentially up to 30 vit.

I personally think the trade off will be worth it.

Some general BRD DPS questions.. another BRD in my group is parsing 20-30 DPS higher than me consistently on Turn 4 and I'm trying to figure out why. He has higher critical chance slightly, so that's my first thought, but otherwise I'm wondering if there's something I'm missing in playstyle.

I'm a PS3 player, so I use the cross bar and lots of macros. I'll try to explain what I do.

    Rotation:

    1) Straight Shot > (Internal Release) > DOTs
    2) DPS Macro (Line 1: Misery's End, Line 2: Bloodletter, Line 3: Heavy Shot)
    3) Buff Macro (Line 1: Raging Strikes, Line 2: Blood-for-Blood)

I cycle in Raging Strikes and Blood-for-Blood before starting the main rotation when they're up and save Barrage for the Dreadnought since that's where our major DPS hang up is. I also use Hawk's Eye as much as possible (I have it in my pre-Straight Shot macro). I'm pretty sure I'm doing everything right, so I think my DPS loss is either coming from gear or targeting (targeting on PS3 is slow because you have to tab through targets visible on your screen, no quick clicking on the aggro list to go from A to D for example). Are there any tips you guys can throw my way toward getting my Turn 4 DPS up?

Neither of us logged out on BRD so I can't show lodestone profiles. I'll list it though:

Mine: NQ Relic, AK neck, AK ring, Allagan bracelets, AF2 hands/feet, Darklight elsewhere.
His: NQ Relic, AF2 legs, Hero's Ring, Darklight elsewhere.

Are both of you parsing your own damage, or is only one of you parsing. I've found parsing to really only be accurate for yourself, and that's after pretending the DOT calculation problem doesn't exist.

PS3 is slower iirc, I remember people talking about this on the forums(eww) but yeah. You also have that generic BRD macro which I read people have been losing DPS over, I'd link but that thread is huge. Personally I don't macro anything except Blunt Arrow for the /p line and that's it. If he's using keyboard and mouse he's going to be faster I'd say, also if he's on PC then you a lot quicker than being on console. We have a BRD in my FC who out gears me(accs he has heros and I have 5 melded spinels) but I always out DPS him. I use a Naga and 0 macros and he has that generic BRD macros, could be why. I'd also try looking at total damage too because the DPS on parsers are pretty bad, especially for BRDs. Flaming arrow don't work either so yeah..

Fuck a parser right now, imo. Maybe it's giving you some general idea, but I've heard parse results that were just so ridiculous there is no way they are true. Plus it's clearly missing all the DoT's so I honestly don't even know what it's telling anyone. Shit like another BRD without BfB outparsing BRD with it, thats.... just not happening. I know it's just to get a "general idea" but damn, I got a "general idea" just by watching what's going on.

Maybe when they get the DoT thing figured out and all the bugs worked out, right now parsers just annoy me... although they do seem to motivate folks if you say one is running, so there's that.

Also on the Macros thing, I agree, I think I said that a while back, that I felt like I was missing out on DPS with all these macros, something just feels off on the timing, the only thing I have now is bloodletter before heavy shot, which still might be slowing me up some, but it doesn't "feel" like it like when I had all kinds of buffs and multiple actions in the macros.

He is parsing and so is another player (WHM), and their numbers are usually within 2-3 DPS of each other.

Some good things to note. He doesn't use macros either. So if you're not using the full macro, you'd have to be spamming Heavy Shot on GCD and then prepared to pop Bloodletter whenever it shows up from procs, but that seems like I would lose overall DPS because the macro pretty much does it automatically (i.e., there's never a chance I'd miss it). It makes sense that manual would be better DPS in a vacuum but I'd be worried that I wouldn't be able to nail them as fast manually (on a controller).

I'll give that a shot though, that is the other major difference between us (I use macros and he doesn't).

*EDIT* Looking back, I can see how the ME>BL>HS macro actually loses some DPS. Bloodletter can be applied DURING a Heavy Shot but if it procs and comes up during a Heavy Shot animation it will always be used BEFORE Heavy Shot in the rotation due to the prioritization rather than being used after the next Heavy Shot and clipping the animation. Do you think it would be better DPS to put Bloodletter on the macro after Heavy Shot so that it only goes off during the GCD, or is hitting it manually the only way to time it right?

I thought the standard BRD macro was ME>HS>BL?

BL and HS do the same amount of damage, so you're better off getting your GCD rolling before shooting off your Bloodletter... right?

As I understand you want BL to be off cooldown ASAP, since it's off the GCD, so that's why it's always first.

Your way will have you waiting on HS to fire BL, so BL will be up for a time where it could have reset already on your HS fire.

It's possible you guys are right though, I'm pretty noob but try to approach things logically, I could be way off.

Sounds like there's probably a half second loss per Bloodletter proc using the macro, the more I think about it. Hell, 2 tenths of a second would be equivalent to about 30 DPS (at 200 DPS) and that's the gap between us on a typical parse, so that may be the entire issue right there.

Think I will try the manual method out tonight.
