Paeon is useful in Turn-4, if you're not mage-heavy.
Also useful in WP speed runs if you're rolling a non-standard group with a WAR tank and a melee DD.
I'd drain my tp constantly if it wasn't for invigorate. I can't even imagine using rain of death without it.
Also my crit testing for today went well. 7514 auto attacks, 1466 crits. I can say with a 95% certainty that my crit rate is in between 18.6% and 20.4% at 541 critical hit rate.
I use Paeon for T4 as well, just the first set of spiders but without Ivig, I think I would run out of TP on pretty much everything ever. No more AoE for SRs, run out of TP on Turn 4, run out of TP on Twin. Losing Invig would the the worst. Losing B4B would only suck for the 34 levels of DRG I had to endure.
Different strats I guess. I wouldn't even bat an eye at losing Invigorate anywhere except WP speeds and Turn 5.
BTW: For Turn 4, if you're bringing two BLMs, using Requiem in any situation where you usually use Paeon would be more effective. I can't speak for strats with more than 1 melee DPS though.
We run with 2 blm as well and I personally use requiem for phase 1, battle voiced ballad for phase 4, and then put up ballad sometime during phase 6. I could potentially manage without invigorate, but it would mean I can only do about 1/3 of the aoes I would normally do, and it would mean I wouldn't have the ability to use rain of death during phase 6. http://www.twitch.tv/deadgye/c/3383365BTW: For Turn 4, if you're bringing two BLMs, using Requiem in any situation where you usually use Paeon would be more effective. I'd rather lose blunt arrow and/or rain of death than invigorate personally lol.
We run BLM SMN and only use Requium. We don't get left over mobs anymore, even on wave 5.
For us the ballad is two-fold, topping off the healers for phase 5/6 and increasing damage via flare for the black mages. One of the black mages didn't have quelling yet in that recording so he couldn't go balls to the wall. I also didn't use some extra aoe attacks because I wanted to rain of death twice during phase 6. Those phase 4 spiders don't stand a chance of living starting this week lol.
I ove how there's so many different ways to take down turn 4, and how so many different group combinations work.
Well, since I was basically the best dps in the group before(1BLM would out parse me barely), i needed to pump out AoEs. (will change with the new group I am in probably). I used Paeon on first phase cause Mnk and I would be very low on tp when I used requiem, even with Invig.
P1 Paeon, P4 Requiem, P6 BV Ballad, just in case (though 90% of the time we were fine).
Basically, B4B is a nice dmg increase but Invig means i almost never need to worry about TP. inb4 they kill Shadowbind and give us something even better.
I love shadowbind lol. 15 seconds of "haha you're taking damage from dots and can't hit me" in WP, AK, etc. Hell it even works on Odin.
I forgot Shadowbind existed. Thanks for the reminder!
Pfft shadowbind is epic... Pull every boss with it on wp speedruns and watch party get confused as fuck. I use that shit all the time. #kitelikeaboss
i hate itcan't get a headstart on boss to and allow tanks build hate
2.1 Patch Notes
I'm ok with this.
Indirect nerfs: Internal Release and Blood for Blood reduced to only a 10% bonus each when cross-classed. The Rain of Death -10% damage was "moved" to WAR's updated Storm's Path.
least there is no longer a reason to use rain of death now since it is a giant TP resource
I pretty much see it as 1 less button to push (often anyways) and 1 less debuff to track. And yeah, more TP is always a good thing. Internal release and blood for blood nerf suck, but at least it's a blanket nerf for everything that uses them and not just BRD specifically.
IR nerf sucks the most imo but w/e. Never having to use RoD again other then the free TP proc = YAY. \o/ (though PLDs and Healers will prolly hate that)
