Dot'ing up a bunch of forward targets carries small risks of multiple nails exploding close enough for the vulnerability stack to stay up. Granted that's only a concern if your group's DPS is "too good" or you have a large amount of ranged dot'ers (SMN/BRD). Yeah Dots have the most potency/GCD and add BL proc chances, but unless your target swapping is also spot-on you might lose DPS tabbing/clicking around for more than a couple targets in advance.

literally the opener to my post. There is absolutely no way that you guys fail so badly at reading comprehension that youre arguing against yourselves endlessly. This is simply the weakest troll attempt ever

and LOL at no hard evidence that dots do the most damage. PLEASE tell me thats a troll too. If not please pvp against me sometime.

Pretty sure what Judai and others are trying to say is that you will waste to much time trying to DoT all the nails when you could be DPSing the rest. Overall causing a loss in DPS since you would only have 3 DPS on the nails while you take almost 30 seconds to just DoT. Personally no experience in the fight but don't you have around 100 seconds to kill all the nails?? I guess if your other DPS are top notch this may not be an issue.

The targeting in this game is so god-awful. Feels a lot better on a controller for me since I can just use the Trigger+Bumper enemy target cycling or the L1+up/down enemy list cycling. I also find it more comfortable to dodge on a controller. The only thing I find easier to put down when I'm playing M+KB is Flaming Arrow, pain in the ass to aim it with the camera stick.

    dotting.maximizes.damage.

youre just proving my point biggz, 30s to dot all nails + 20s burn on all nails and THEN focusing is going to be an enormous jump in damage over just focusing 1 or 2. Im seriously baffled that people are having such a difficult time understanding this i thought everyone knew this. I have no idea what youre trying to say "when you could be dpsing the rest" because thats EXACTLY what im doing..

if these 2 clowns judai and creampi would develop even a MILD case of reading comprehension around here, you would see that all I said was dotting maximum targets is optimal for maximum damage, which is infallibly correct. Still waiting for them to show otherwise, and ill be waiting forever. No surprise that they ignore this because they know theyre wrong

Am I doing BRD wrong? I mean, I'm new at it, so I could be. When DOTing 3-4 mobs, the group is done or almost one with the first one by the time I come back around. Basically, I just see it as being 2-3 mobs ahead of the group through all 13, in time to come back around and do like 4 HS/BL at the end, in a world where everything goes the way it should. All the while, not using any of those proc'd BL, or using them and now your time spent DOTing is longer.

That's how it looks to me anyway.

No reason to not be firing bloodletter whenever it's up even if you're cycling DoTs through enemies. You have to be switching targets really fast if you want to fire the bloodletter back towards the main target, though, (or focus like someone else earlier said) which is why I prefer playing on a controller myself.

Yes? I mentioned your point in my post so I don't see what the problem is? (I find needing to constantly set focustarget to be annoying though) Unless you're just reposting that for everyone's convenience in which case you can ignore me.

Just reiterating, tho like I said I don't think this is necessary or worth doing.

DoTing the next nail then returning to the current one should be more than enough unless your DDs just suck overall, in which case being fancy with the DoTs probably isn't gonna save you anyway.

Unless you have 2-3 BRDs or SMN on Ifrit and all of them are doing this (which could causes multiple nails to blow up in succession before stacks clear, but that's pretty unlikely) I don't see why you WOULDN'T want to just spam your dots onto everything. Why use a 150 potency WS when you could be using 330/310 potency WSes?

Maybe I'm just particularly anal about "keep your dots up on everything always" since SMN was my first DPS job.

Actually tried it out for shits and giggles yesterday and it's really inconvenient. Still a lot of switching and clicking, because the nails die too fast, even with one melee being chained to the tank. I think an assist macro on one of the range dps might work better.
Basically it boils down to what you said.

Has anyone here done Twintania (or turn-4, since that seems to have roughly the same accuracy suggestion) with a good amount less than the recommended amount of accuracy? I found out yesterday that the Bard I run alongside of only has 444 accuracy after food, and according to others peoples' parsers, he's not missing any more than I am at 471 accuracy. Parsers seem to be picking up roughly one or two misses for each of us, each attempt, and on a job that doesn't chain combos, that doesn't seem like a problem.

I mainly ask since I just got the Elfin Bow so I lost 33 accuracy. I was originally panicking to make up for the loss, but now I'm questioning that.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

You have got me interested in knowing this answer too. I am sitting at 444 acc too (pre food but ya), and I have been farming ultima like no tomorrow to try and get the neck drop and was going to spend more myth on brd pieces to try to get my acc up.

If this is the case though, fuck wasting my time.

I think it is generally accepted that 471 is the cap for Twintania, however the adds (scourge and snakes), for some odd reason, have higher cap. People just aim for 471 because adds have far less up time than Twintania. From what I've seen even at 471, people have been missing very little on the adds.

On a side note, the add phases in Twintania are usually grouped up targets, so we can use the new RoD to reduce their evasion, no?

Think the point is though someone at 444 is missing about the same as someone at 471. So, what's the point of shooting for 471?

That's great... except the point of the post in question was to ask if the 471 number was correct. I don't doubt people don't miss much at 471, but I want to know if anyone has done well with far, far less.

    Edit: beaten to the punch
