Why would you even mention having straight shot up while cycling DoT's on nails? --- If you have straight shot down at any point of the fight, I do not like you.

Even if you macro Bloodletter on focus target, you will never have time to put DoT's up and effectively shoot the focus target nail at the same time. -- Unless of course there is a few left.

Throw DoT's up on nearby nails while bloodletter isn't proc'd and heavy shot is has a second before next fire. Put flame arrow on the nails nearest the tanks.

You offered an explanation to maximize potential damage in a primal fight, and then compared it to PvP? Umm?

Probably best way to maximize damage is to know when to use cool downs --- Blood for Blood, Raging Strikes and Mega Pot DEX HQ.

hey all, just wanting to confirm the current BiS list for BRD. this is what I have:

    Allagan Bow
    Bard's Chapeau
    Bard's Shirt
    Bard's Ringbands
    Hero's Belt
    Allagan Trousers
    Allagan Sollerets

    Allagan Choker
    Hero's / Tremor Earring
    Inferno Bangle
    Vortex Ring
    Hero's Ring

    HQ Deviled Eggs

end result yields 500 DEX, 476 ACC, 561 CRIT, 244 DET, 412 SS and 396 VIT.

this allows for the possible switching of hero's for tremor earring to reach 481 ACC for t5 if accuracy is an issue, however from what i've seen this does not seem to be the case.

please confirm whether any adjustments should be made. ty

I seem to be doing just fine in T4+5 with 444 accuracy now, so you can probably swap the pants and/or food. Also, I prefer Hero's Choker over Allagan, but that's just me (probably because after doing Coil for 2+ months, the only Aiming gear we've seen are bracelets).

thats rough man, condolences haha. RNG fail

so you think rolling with bard's tights over allagan and ending up on 442 acc would be fine? ill have to test it next week. acc seems alot less important now compared to what it used to.

What's your acc and dps? Mind posting a parse if you have logrep?

I don't parse, which is why I asked if someone else could try the same test a page or two back. All I have to go off of is what other people in my coil group who do run parsers tell me (1~2 misses for each attempt at Twin from start to mid-snakes). I did notice a single miss on a conflag last night, but I didn't notice anything on Twin. Again, that doesn't mean I didn't miss, that just means I didn't see it. We haven't made it past snakes yet, so I can't report any eyeballed findings against dreadknights.

Seeing as our job does not have any combos that rely on each other to successively hit in order to get to our strongest moves, missing a few shots here and there doesn't seem like the end of the world. Missing DoTs would be the worst that could happen, and so far I've only seen that happen once (the aforementioned miss on a conflag), and no it didn't cause a wipe.

If you have logrep, you should be able to pull up the parse still, as you don't have to actively parse it.

I'll try to see about getting it set up for Thursday then; that's when we're giving T5 another go. If someone has an idiot's guide for it, I would be grateful.

    Just DL it - http://xivparser.com/summary/index.php
    Unzip it.

    Do Turn 5, after

    Run it.
    A Window pops up.
There is a sword icon, upper left, click that and select attack analyse.
A new box pops up with events to select and your Turn 5 parse should be in it. Select it and Analyse. Can sort by dmg, enemies, etc.

Many people have said the accuracy required for Twintania herself isn't all that high, but the snakes on the other hand have a lot more evasion. Maybe use Rain of Death when they're all rounded up just to be sure.

Alright, here's my results at 444 accuracy. I deliberately used food without any accuracy so I could have a fairly low accuracy number. Usually I run Twin with accuracy food. We started 1.5hrs late, so the parse is shorter than I had hoped. It's several attempts all mashed together, since we're not clearworthy yet, so the DPS numbers might be junk.

I don't understand how to read some of this shit (wtf is BossTotal?), but I do know what the miss percentage field is (if you can't see the image, it says a miss rate of ~1%). That seems low enough that I'm not hugely concerned about accuracy. I will certainly shoot for higher than 444, but I'm not going to stress about hitting 470+ anymore.

Interesting. That hit% seems really good for so low of acc.

It's hard to compare with my own parse though, because my DPS is far higher atm, for w/e reason. Seems weird, cause my last Twintania shows me at 307.61 dps total, not sure why there is such a massive difference.

The parse is 46 minutes long, as you can see at the top. For DPS, it's literally just taking "Total damage dealt" divided by "Time spent in arena" (342612 / 2760 = 124ish). As I said earlier, we're not clearing turn-5 yet, so that means it's including the time while I am...

    1) Dead, and waiting on the rest of the group to wipe so we could start the next attempt
    2) Buffing before each attempt
    3) Time spent sitting around with my thumb up my ass because someone is afk between attempts.

You can safely ignore the DPS numbers. It would only be valid if it was a single attempt. I'm not sure why DPS is relevant when we're just talking accuracy here. If you're just wondering about gear, you can view it over in my character link over to the side to see what gear I was wearing; the only gear difference is that when I was doing Twin, I was wearing Darklight Caligae, but I replaced those with Ballad Shoes after this parse (sacrificing 11 crit for 3DEX seemed worth it).

My only point was that I would want to see the actual dps increase between using acc gear and not, and whether or not the misses hurt more then the dmg increases. My last Twin is actually 2 runs, 26m long (we wiped for some reason during dreads, think people were just tired as we ran way later then normal). Anyways, I wasn't trying to come off as being better or anything, just that the dps number is too low to accurately formulate anything from it.

Thanks for the parse though, I think next week I might drop a little accuracy to see how my number hold up.

You're not going to get any meaningful numbers by comparing calculated DPS values from a parser for fights. It's honestly a worthless statistic unless you note the conditions of every fight and get a large sample size of fights. Even then you'll still only want to compare to yourself. What you want to do is record character stats and use the parser to measure accuracy, low, high, and crit%. Then you can calculate what gives the larger absolute damage output. If the absolute is higher and skill speed is higher, it's almost undeniably better. We don't have combos so it's fairly easy to deal with personal tradeoffs (missing during bursts ie. conflags, missing silence, etc) and factoring in missed procs (heavy shot misses being more than a simple 150pot miss, for example). And if skill speed is the other way, you can do some rough napkin math and make a fairly decent estimation.

Yea, I wasn't looking for anything super exact but considering my own changes in dps on things like ex primal parses with acc/non-acc gear, it was easy to ballpark that there was a clear and obvious increase.

So if you take the current Bard BiS and you remove the accuracy requirement completely (say, because you're doing Primals EX or basically anything other than coil), is the only difference pants and food?

Does the Allagan Bow still win against the Elfin bow? (+1DMG +3DEX +stronger_auto_attack vs +18Det +37Crit) Actually, yeah it probably still wins.

And I personally find the "dps" increase to be a worthless measurement since I find skill speed increases mostly worthless (a difference of 39 in this case). After all, any time you aren't riding your gcd perfect you're wasting potential skill speed-- and this does happen enough for it to matter.

Ok so at an impasse over where to spend myth next on my BRD. Most of my BRD gear has just been passively acquired from what our main BRD's didn't want so I've ended up with some horrible mix/match of gear

Artemis / Titans (Generally use Titans)
    Allagan Head
    Allagan Body
    Allagan Hands
    Ballad Sash
    Ballad Legs
    Bard's Sandals
    DL Neck
    Hero's Earring of Aiming
    DL Wrists
    HQ Gryph Ring
    DL Ring

That puts me at the mid 460's on Acc. My skill speed is actually higher than my crit rate too >_>

Elfin Bow is a possibility so I've been reluctant to do Artemis +1 (although again this tanks my acc). Accessory wise a lot of them seem kinda meh so I've been reluctant to grab them too. I guess ring isn't terrible since you need 2 rings.

My thinking was legs next but that drops me 21 Acc (I don't use BRD for coil but still like the option of it being there). Or I guess I could do belt?

Like I know what I should be aiming for overall but it just seems like I have to pick up some bad myth choices before I can do the good ones...

    Any suggestions?
