Guess I'll keep it short since I lost my post due to included URL. Hi, I'm looking for advice on what career BRDs do cooldown-wise for SCoB. As a previous PLD re-cast as a BRD in my new static (that I didn't exactly use for serious content pre-2.2) I'm more used to playing an all out zerg BRD for short fights and I'm not entirely sure that's more efficient.

Right now I'm averaging 250 dps in t6, with some ballad and paeon towards the end; around 220 dps in t7, stopping @60/35% with ballad up to force phase changes after shriek and overall being a lot more careful/slow below 35% as I hawk over all mechanics; and about 300 dps @ the 8min/25% mark on t8, however we run with 1 BRD and I start running out of TP @ 6~mins in (or about halfway to my third invigorate with near-perfect invigorate use). While MP is somewhat strained due to requiems for dreads/random ballads if whm dips low for whatever reason, I'd like to know at what point tp-wise should I sing paeon so that it is more efficient in that scenario.

    My current set is ffxiv.ariyala.com/MFFQ

Thanks in advance for any input.

Forgot to add that the set is low on soldiery gear because I unfortunately only figured out I was going to BRD after already spending 1690 soldiery on DRG/MNK gear (that I expected to take up more seriously in 2.2) and I'm currently sitting at 585/1300 for bow that I will probably be getting tome for next week or the week after.

@ilvl100 [can't post url to set atm, DEX:537,ACC:504,CRT:500,DET:262] On a level 1 dummy w/no food/potions/etc., just gear, buffs, and rotations over a 5 minute period what kind of numbers should I be seeing? At the moment I cannot get over 302 on the dummy (using ACT). I'm trying to better my DPS output, but from the odd number I've seen thrown around I have no idea if that is supposed to mean BiS decked out gear or something lower like my i100, is this on ACT or XIVAPP, etc.

I would like to know what our ideal top DPS is (if this is even known and agreed upon), and what a reasonable good bard around my ilvl should be pulling. This is mostly in regards to optimizing my performance in turn 8.

Ultimately there's no overall correct answer because certain groups have more or less DPS requirements and there's usually phases you need to push quickly such as the 3-add phase of Turn 7, but in general you want your CDs always on cooldown. You want to combine Raging with Barrage usually, pop Internal Release before/with Straight Shot when applying DOTs (helps BL proc chance), and ride Blood-for-Blood literally whenever it is safe to do so. Hawk's can be used on CD as well and weaved between two GCDs. Don't use more than one buff in sequence because you're losing a GCD when you do and always try to time the pull so you can pop Internal Release on before applying your initial DOTs (and make sure to USE Bloodletter right after Straight Shot so that it is on CD when the DOTs apply and has a chance to proc River of Blood on the first DOT tick).

Really it's just optimization, you'll get used to it, just remember that every tenth of a second is important, especially in Turn 8.

Turn 6: BRDs in my group parse around 300, there's a bit of a DPS hit due to mechanics and target switching (it's better to miss a GCD or two and get the Devour timing right than deal an extra 500 damage and give the boss a stack) but it's a pretty zerg-friendly fight so just keep everything on cooldown. Using Super Slug method, it should die before you really have to worry about buffs (assuming melee LB2). Same thing with bulbs and bees, they melt pretty fast now that we're gearing up.

Turn 7: It's not a DPS race, so just keep DOTs up, stay consistent, attentive and don't mess up the mechanics. Don't burn CDs at the start, wait for the 3-add phase. I'd do Internal Release, BFB on the first add, Quelling, Barrage and Raging with about 20% health left on the first add (so it's up for add 2), and Hawk's for the last one.

Turn 8: Always keep it all on CD.

I would like to know what our ideal top DPS is (if this is even known and agreed upon), and what a reasonable good bard around my ilvl should be pulling. This is mostly in regards to optimizing my performance in turn 8.
We have two BRDs in our group and a DRG (for Disembowel). One BRD is relegated to Ballad/Paeon duty when necessary and he parses 270-280 in Turn 8 using ACT. The other BRD only has to sing Requiem and he parses above 320-340. Optimizing would probably get you another 20-30 DPS on both of those numbers... we still lack i110 weapons, but they'll be coming next week.

I'm i100 and without a DRG this week I parsed 320+(I think 328 but idr). I'm on Homing Missile, so can't use B4B w/e it's up, and I sing one full MP BV Ballad(actually sang a second short one this week at around 10% as well).

I also use macros so clearly super-pro BRDs should be doing more like 360dps.

Without pots and without drg I think I'm only doing about 300 deepz in t8. The other bard in my fc says he does about 330 in t8, and they have a drg. Do you have the 110 weapon Judai and/or you sure that was without a drg? :o

Have Rosen yea, but that was definitely first time we let our melee go MNK over DRG(cause his MNK is better geared now). I'm pretty sure I could easily do more, as I messed up a little and needing that second ballad killed me.

I was 300-315 before Rosen and a few ilvls down, with same missile/ballad duties though.

Is it a dps increase to replace dots (when your buffed) before they wear, even if your replacing them 1/2 way through their duration

Can a pro BRD dig into their ACT files and let me know a rough breakdown of what skills make up what % of their total damage? Just looking for ranges/averages here. For example:

    Auto-attack 25%
    Heavy Shot 25%
    Bloodletter 10%

    and so on.

Whats the overall consensus on overwriting dots before your buffs wear? Im trying to figure out how some bards are reaching crazy dps numbers. I know luck on coil drops is obviously one factor, and I'm generally #1 or #2 in my coil static, but I'm not staying above 300+ dps for the entire fight like it seems I should be. So trying to figure out ways I can push some more damage.

I do use blunt and repelling (when the fight allows) on CD. But can't use repelling for every fight or all the time in the new coil turns. For buffs & dots, I generally do (1) Eagle Eye And Blood for Blood together, and then I will use (2) Internal Release & Raging strikes together, and (3) Internal release once in-between Raging Strikes CD's since its 1/2 the duration. (4) For Flame Arrow and Barrage, I typically use them in conjunction w/ one of the above buff combinations if one of the above combinations is almost off CD, but I don't hold either of them for too long if the buff combinations are not up

I know DPS depends on what your role is for Turn 7 and Turn 8, yatta yatta, but still trying to see if I'm just oversighting some obvious DPS increase I could be taking advantage of

Well, I just parsed myself on a dummy, for our other BRD who is trying to get closer to my DPS numbers.

I seem to be averaging ~300dps on my ilvl100 brd with tidal wave bow, no drg. I do a paeon for a while at one point, but no ballad. Hit enrage at ~3% today, sad face. Wish our mnk was a drg instead of a mnk. Or that our blm and smn were doing more than 270dps.

That is really awful DPS for a BLM and even more so for a SMN on T8...

Firstly, thank you, I appreciate it. At the moment maintenance is about to hit so I can't go out and re-check my numbers just yet sadly, but I'll do so as soon as I get a chance. My gear is pretty comparable to yours with the exception of the weapon (I have NQ Levi bow), but the stat increase an un-weathered Rosenbogen gives shouldn't be anywhere close to giving an 80-95 DPS increase. I'm either doing something terribly wrong, or have something set up incorrectly, and I'm leaning towards my own error. I just need to figure out what. Like you I use macros, which is what is confusing me. Other than reapplying dots/buffs and the occasional blunt/flaming it's a 2 button affair (heavy/blood/misery button, straight shot for straighter procs), it's hard to fuck up a 2 button rotation for the most part, especially an 80 point fuck-up.

I'll check again tomorrow and take a look at my numbers and if they're still low I'll have to record my 5 minute run and post it.

Stock ACT w/FFXIV plugin should be reading correctly right?

Yes, that's what I use, though ACT will probably be broken tmo after the patch.
