Yea, it depends on kill speed. Some dungeon with a guy slowly pulling 3 mobs and the other DPS is single target? DoT them all and then finish them off. If both of you are AoEing though, (ie blm in dungeon) then you can AoE as well as things should die quickly.

Syrcus, definitely can AoE away as everything dies fast but I do tend to toss one dot on each and then AoE myself.

So whats everyone doing for novus? Now that the alexandrite grind is a joke i figured id finish mine up (50/75 atm) i think im going with 40crit 10acc 25det as I'm full BiS aside from t9 bow(9clears and no drop :/)

It may have been answered already in this thread somewhere (?) or another, but I just finally got Animus bow ... now I am totally confused on what to put in terms of materia. What did you guys go with ? I'm assuming you want to retain some level of accuracy for higher content, then crit then det ? how much of each ?

So... I'm stuck. I have soldiery, so I can get another weathered ring.
I have Allied Seals, which I will use on my weathered belt.

I have not even tested Turn 8 yet, so multiple High Allagan is out of the question for right now.

What do I do? Grab all weathered pieces and use sand on them and finish up my Novus with Crit / Det? Do I get Rosenbogen while I finish up Novus?

I was feeling good about where I was at. But now, I'm questioning it.

I mean, that's really up to you. I am pretty different then most people in that I don't use my Sol on stuff I don't consider BiS or very useful(ie Auroral Wrists). Even if I am missing a drop for awhile, I don't really care to waste Sol I can use on another job. Rosen is definitely a nice upgrade but it depends on how close you are to Novus really, as that will be better once you start melding it. I am doing T6-9 every week though, so I have HA drops coming in all the time(and got pretty lucky in second coil and got it all already anyways). I was without a few pieces during first coil though and never bothered to grab lesser myth pieces I was going to replace with Allagan and just geared other jobs instead.

As for all the Novus upgrade questions, I personally haven't really looked at it much, I'm still like 3 books away from Animus and in no rush but my plan was to add a little Accuracy(10-15) just for wiggle room and for new content progression(and cause I'm kinda cheap).

And thank you. And I was the same way with the first set of coil, but I was consistently downing coil every week. I transferred servers and lucky enough to land a spot in a static, but we are slowly (very.........) progressing through T6-T9. I guess I do enough damage as is, but with my setup that I just posted my ACC is taking a hit... I have a couple gear swaps to fix that, but still felt uncomfortable last night looking at my gear and not knowing which direction to go in --- especially since I might not see T9 until September / October.

Personally I wouldn't be worried about it, but I would get w/e I needed to hit or get close to the Acc cap (you seem a bit too low unless eating cabbage) for the turns I was doing. It also depends on how much you play other jobs, if you don't use them much, might as well spend on BRD. I like to use my tank jobs for dungeons unless doing them with friends and I also use SMN for T7 so I am trying to gear 3 jobs at least decently and was pretty happy I didn't need much Sol gear for BRD.

If your static is having issues with dmg checks, you might want to think about upgrading other pieces just for the Dex but I wouldn't spend sands on the lesser BRD gear personally(just body/belt/rosen for me).

I actually gear WHM/SCH almost as much as BRD and all others are 90+. So I don't want to waste anymore than I have. I will do belt.

It's not a matter of DPS, just a matter of spending time getting the fight down.

2 SMN, 1 BRD, 1 (melee). He kites so our other (main) SMN/BLM sometimes can go scumbag DPS mode.

We have had to pick up a couple DPS the past couple weeks. Yesterday we had a BRD who's DPS was nauseating. I'm talking <150. He was flame circling players as well. I probably should have switched to SMN --- I have been kiting as BRD. Don't know if I'm comfortable with SMN enough to switch over and kite.

You should just go SMN for T7. I started doing that a week or two ago. It is ridiculous how easy it is to kite on SMN while maintaining numbers compared to my BRD.

Most kiting BRDs I see in T7 range from 170-250ish DPS. With SMN, you could probably easily push 280 without trying very hard. Not sure what I did this week as SMN (I think 250?) but I wasn't exactly trying very hard w/ an i95 book @ i103 (BLM gear).

My SMN is mid 90's. I will start to gear it up though and get some practice. My BRD is usually 225ish, sometimes higher sometimes lower while kiting.

I don't get the reasoning on that BiS list. SkS is awful, so Auroral Feet are pretty crap. He says they are better then HA, yet has Hands as slightly worse and Head as shit, when all of those are basically the same comparisons. The only piece I have, that isn't "BiS", is the Auroral wrists because the acc is needed if running Rosen. Also, not sure why he lists the pants as trash, but seems to only have the HA Body off the list cause it's a T9 drop, cause it's pretty meh(pants ARE complete trash tho imo).

Like I said, if you really want the extra DEX or need some Acc, upgrading Head/Hands/Feet is the way to go but they are pretty meh compared to HA and using a Sand on them is a waste imo.

Yea. I hated kiting on BRD, way too many accidental Renaud kills by me and just overall stress. I leveled SMN, like a month after the patch, cause our SMN was going on a month vacation. I basically learned how to play SMN, while kiting in T7 and it was FAR easier and FAR less stress. Miasma on the Renauds just makes it so easy. Toss dots on everything needed in between Renaud pops and you will hit 250+ easily. I don't even try hard anymore because it's actually good for us to slow our dps down on that fight and make sure voices come out properly.

The only reason I can see him using Sol Boots over HA is the high/low distribution is (maybe?) more ideal as far as stat weights go (Sks high / acc low vs acc high / det low).
