Would love to know how anyone calculates BRD crit weight, without just making part of the calculation completely arbitrary

Edit: Oh neat, they just throw it in a simulator and check the results. That's probably the best way to do it.

Edit2: For funsies, I re-ran the i130 bow vs the i125 max crit/det with those weights and got (20.64 vs 19.811) which still puts i130 bow ahead, but again, by less than 1 DEX.

Crit weight should basically be a simulation of the probable absolute damage increase per crit rate on skills used, in which 100% crit things detract value, and then add in the probable increase due to bloodletter resets.

It is a simulation. EasymodeX made and released a simulator where you script your 'rotation' (quotes because you can script your buff and price as well). From there you can run your dps for stats and compute the weights.

Iirc its web based so you can tweak the rotation yourself. I also have a prototype (bard rotation is hard coded) I was working on in Python. But it ignores skill-speed (not a big issue for bard as ss will speed up the abilities' dps so you can correct it manually with the damage detail. It is more an issue for other classes if it changes the structure of the rotation). Let me know if interested.

I don't really have an issue keeping up in T10 because I can abuse adds for the DPS increase. It's places like T11 where the gap really shows. I think the last T11 we did the DRG was almost 100 DPS ahead of me and the BLM was like 60-70 clear of me.

I've had fights recently where the DRG has died and still ended up outparsing me.

It's fine, BRD is just being pushed more towards support as time goes on. It's just I'm a 1.0 ARC so my natural inclination is DD!

Interestingly, I think they mentioned bard's lb will change coming 3.0 (idr if they explicitly stated it will get a dd lb though). I wonder if there's any more meaning to that than to make at least one dd lb available even in a full brd dps party.

Sadly with Machinist coming I feel like that's exactly how it's going to go. Don't worry though guys, Yoshi is going to let us CC cure again, and let us keep our healer LB! So i'm starting to play bard (first time since 1.0) and I kinda geared it all in I110-I115 atm (exept head still I90). I remember a discusion about this one time, and I don't wanna start a war but i'll go simple

1) Is it worth it to macro all buffs or some of them? like BB IR, Hawk eye etc?
2) Is there any other macro that can help BRD DPS?

1- it's acceptable. Depends on how you weigh # of button to push to a slight loss compared to optimal play. I do this but I'm considering removing the macro (mostly because I sometime can't activate two buffs in one gcd but also some time the macro will 'jump' lines and not activate the one I expect). Marginal in my opinion though
2- can combine bloodletter and misery's end to save one button. Consensus is to not macro blood and misery to your gcd actions.

Edit: keep blood for blood out of your buff macro obviously

obv I'm king of macros but it's your call on the ME/BL or ME/HS/BL macros(which can be taken further to ME/SS/BL, ME/IR/WB/BL,etc). I personally have Raging Strikes alone and then Hawk's/B4B/Barrage together, since I use all of those together all the time. IR is only in my WB macro, because I always want it going off during start of dot rotation.

I'm honestly expecting BRD LB to be something more similar to XI Soul Voice mechanics: huge DET/SKS/SPS buff.

It would work as a buff to both damage output and healing output.

Buff macros make even less sense now that oGCDs can properly queue. In a low-latency situation, you can consistently perform two oGCDs between GCDs without pushback. Macroing will harm that consistency.

Exactly. Since I changed datacenter and went from a 250 to 50 ping, what was really a marginal issue among other lag nonsense (gcd being eaten up occasionally) is now where I feel I could improve.

I'd say it's bis for the Dreadwyrm Tabard build (same items, just swap out the tabard for the WoD body). BiS for Kirimu pentamelded T4 materia if you're using Yoichi Bow (due to bad drop rng on Dreadwyrm or haven't cleared T13 yet) and meld accuracy to cover the accuracy drop. I suggest using Lava Toad or Caviar then melding 5 points of accuracy to reach the cap, but melding 40~ accuracy onto the bow + black truffle could work as well. Will have to play around with gearsets a bit once Ariyala gets updated.
