FFXIV Random Complaint Thread: Look forward to it

I will bitch about targeting, and then people can tell me where I'm failing because I'm still noob to 14 (played like a couple weeks in 1.0).

Situation: Approaching a room with mob + 2 links. Trying to mark all three before pull. Two mobs are off to the side of the first, but slightly behind rocks. I can see the mob's name and probably 50% of it's body.

Tab doesn't work at all, will only register the mob right in front. /targetenemy does the same since the front one is the closest. Trying to click on the mobs rarely works, I can't figure out where the game wants me to click (nameplate / head / shoulders don't register as targets). End up having to walk far enough into the room to usually aggro the front mob, starting the fight with no cc marked. I know marking probably isn't a huge deal until later in the game but pretend this is some important pull since this is a mechanics question anyway.

Suggestions?

Nameplate is easiest usually, but yeah, obstacles can screw you totally on targetting.

For the most part, if you can't draw a straight line from the middle of your character to the middle of your target, the game will not let you target it. Your only option is to move around, or more appropriately, just trust your party to fill in the blanks with common sense.

Pre-Titan, the story was terrible. After that though I started to get into it. I've said it awhile ago but the filler quests in this game really ruins the story. They should've eased up on the number of quests and just gave them more exp to compensate.

I legit started screaming into mumble when I got to that. Just a fit of incoherent screaming. That was where the game broke me.

Oh, and another thing. Fuck the weird latency in this fucking game. I died 4 times in the Garuda fight because apparently I wasn't behind the pillars fast enough? But on everyone's screen (not just my own), I (and my corpse) were completely behind the pillar before the thing went off.

Is there a way to check your ping to server? I have fucking FIOS, I shouldn't be having any latency issues.

THIS is wtf I was planning to complain about and forgot by the time I caught up on the thread... I was lv34 ltw making lv7 or something hard leather with quick synth and failed fucking 4 out of 20 synths. THAT IS 20% FAILURE ON SOMETHING I'M OVER 20 LEVELS ABOVE. WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK?

I kinda agree, but the filler still kills the enjoyment of the story for me. Speaking of Titan...

The only reason I let that slide was because they acknowledged how retarded and menial it was, even having Y'shtola be visibly annoyed at the whole ordeal.

What irked me was after how big of a production that part was, only to have almost zero acknowledgment of your incredible achievement once you were victorious. Disregarding the fact that you just came back from what they thought would be a suicide mission... just a "Cool, you're done? Here's your next task."

The amount of useless filler in this game's main story reminds me of Naruto/Bleach. I thought stories were supposed to be a highlight to the franchise...

That is by far the worst segment of the storyline for me. If it weren't for the Garleans being a bunch of douchebags I would've stopped paying attention to the story overall.

Was it yesterday or just general? Yesterday I was in Dzemael Darkhold PUG and fuck, we wiped like 5 times in the last boss (I have ran it ~10 times, like 2 or 3 wipes on last boss. Heck, twice only one (once dps, once tank) was up besides me for last 20%)). Even I died twice on healer when I thought I was clearly outside of the area.

Latency is frequently terrible, not just yesterday. Also, public service announcement, don't be that guy that goes apeshit in a DF group when someone lags and gets killed by an AoE when a fight has been going on 10 minutes and they've successfully dodged everything to that point. Everyone knows there are lag issues, I don't know why the first conclusion anyone would jump to after successfully fighting for that long is that it's the player's fault. Honestly more than anything else, the one thing I have to complain most about in this game is douchebags on duty finder (not bad players, just people who act like douchebags). It's bad enough to the point where literally every time I've been in a group that dies on DF Ifrit, at least one person will go off on someone else rather than trying to be constructive about it. Shit's just tiring and depressing to witness.

So I'm queuing for Ampador, Ifrit HM, and Garuda HM. I'm at 30 minute queue, but whatevs, I'm DPS. I check my duty status and it says I have a full PT but it's still reserving an instance. At around 40 minutes I get a bite only to have the other DPS ignore the call, so it times out. At 60 minutes I get a runtime error and the client dies.

I can't tell you how many times I've queued up for an instance while I go about with some gathering/crafting, frantically/sloppily finishing my current node or craft so I can switch to my appropriate class and hit confirm before it times out... only to have the healer be AFK and get sent right back into indefinite queue.

I dunno whether to moan about this here or in a crafting thread but

ALC 45+ sucks. The 5 possible leves require
-Pudding Flesh (an instance-only drop atm)
-Ochu Vine
-Pudding Flesh and Ochu Vine
-Shark Oil
-Ahriman Wing

...anyone know a good spot to farm vines or wings?

Assuming the 40s are alright, I think you're better off just continuing to run those until you're done.

40s aren't a lot better but I guess I have nothing better to do with ~80 sets of Mega-Potion mats and it's over 100k exp payout with HQ still. I'll run out of leves before mats.
