Yeah, gear stats are currently really boring. I have to wonder if they are doing stats buff only ATM because they suck in general at balancing shit.
Just as a question, have you seen people running-full stop-running sped up in any case? I have the same ping as you being eu, and I constantly have that, and well...I can even run as a retard in circles and still get hit by cone aoes even if I'm on my screen behind the mob before the cast bar even comes...
I think there's some routing problems or some shit if square is really denying their problem(which I still think it's an issue on their side) because I just tried a few other games, highest ping on N.A. servers was 90, and I didn't have any lag. On eu servers got 28 ping right now on wow, no trouble avoiding anything, no lagspikes...
I really don't know anymore, I raided since before wow launch in most games, got a lot of good server first kills and competed on some world first races, never had a single issue avoiding aoes in any game unless I was being shit, which I guess it could happen sometimes.
Can't speak for others but I still have the same lag as in p3 of beta, just a bit less evident. Basically this gif
http://members.optusnet.com.au/psyk1/FFXIV.gif
just that it happens in a less marked way. I can avoid aoes ONLY if I'm already running and the mob has not started the cast, so basically any fight I did up to now in end game I basically had to be on constant running around as a dumbass because if I stand still for half a second it's gg. Of course during random off hours in totally empty zones it's different, but in any duty finder instance it's like that. I did a few tests this morning and I'm kinda sad that I can't play still, I tried on raptors, with their frontal cone, I basically just strife from 100% to 0% and atleast 2 out of 3 frontal cones I get hit even if I'm already behind the mob...
It also depends on abilities, for example when I was leveling I never got hit by titan aoes, but in others like stone vigil/wanderer's palace, I can do anything and still get hit.
Something like this but random https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5g4TM1fkCg
for example I did ifrit hm and a.keep, had no issue with any ability. Queued again for a.keep got hit by every aoe, wanderer I had the tonberries spawning in groups of 12 with 6 sec delay. It's totally random, and I'm always monitoring my line, the worst I had was 200 ping on ffxiv according to my ping/tracert/ resources monitoring.
today for example in every place people are warping around me, they run-stop-run and well...unplayable in anything that requires reactions, you just can't avoid it...
edit: also I understand it's hard to believe, but atleast for myself I know I can avoid aoes, I have always raided heroic wow raids doing server firsts untill I had to start study/work seriously, so now I raid casually, had server firsts on rift too, guild claimed we had some decent world score but can't say, I never cared about rift progression much, so I do hope I didn't get retarded just for ffxiv aoes <.<
In high population areas, sure, but that's more the servers being at 100% than anything else. Same as when the game freezes entirely.
In beta 4 I manually mapped my route to their servers and blocked all of the shitty nodes along the way. Ended up dropping a re-route and got rid of all the instability that comes with placing servers in an area that no one places servers at or gives a shit about.
He probably tweaked his hosts file (on a very basic level). Additionally, he might have some app that acts as a hosts file with more options. I would like to know too lol

For Tanks, talking Final Fantasy, knights are pretty popular so you would think there would be enough, maybe the responsibility for knights in FFXIV ARR is heavy.
"It was just as I predicted, in any MMO’s there is shortage on tanks. We’re looking into add a bonus for those roles we are short on in patch 2.1."
Can you please explain some more regarding the bonus for those roles in shortage?
"In the finders display it will display what roles are currently short, so if you que in with that role you’ll get exp bonus or gil bonus."
Sounds similar to blood donation. Like we’re short on blood type AB. So that’s going to show up on each DutyFinder category?
"Yes it will. We are short on these people, it’s a feature we can do because we have the Armoury System."
So for EXP bonus it’s going to be like 1.1 times more?
"No, I believe it will be somewhat better than 1.1 times. Also, we’re going to start random matching. Not sure if we’re going to separate the story primal battle and non-story primal battle from category but for categories are split into categories such as “Leveling Dungeon”, “End Dungeon”, “Guild Order” and if you press the “Random” button to que in, DutyFinder will automatically and randomly choose a dungeon. For those that que in with this random matching will also get a bonus. However this is once a day feature."
Once a day, what do you mean once?
"The bonus you can obtain from doing it random."
I see, so you can play the random matching as much as you want in that one day, however the bonus will only apply to that first time only?
"We are still looking into either making it once a day, or one bonus only. When we say bonus, it’s not experience points or gil, you will be able to obtain tokens needed to obtain gears. You will be able to obtain tokens from this random matching. Merit in doing this is that high level players will come in together with new players to fill in the roles that is short. Also we’re looking into a feature where you can submit a vote for MVP. When queuing in with random matching, players can submit a vote for another player as MVP. By collecting those MVP points you will also be able to trade with items. We are already listing up the rewards, but you can get mounts, or chocobo specific gears and such are being looked into."
Ohh, that’s nice, is that also coming in patch 2.1?
"Yes we are planning to implement this in patch 2.1"
About damn time!
I realized yesterday that Shitty DF groups will give you bad habits that fuck you up in FC groups. For example, as SMN I tend to cure myself in shit DF groups, and back up heal tank, therefore getting behind on dps. Also, I save swift cast for when someone bites it for fast cast raise. In good groups, I end up curing myself same time as WHM does, and then waste swift cast cuz no one dies. So yeah I avoid that trash like the plague now.
do traceroute, block shit ips until you get a more stable connection or use a program that does the same thing.
easier to test if you're using pingtest/speedtest servers in montreal than just using SE's servers.
My networking knowledge is limited, but I was under the impression that you can only prevent something from being sent to a particular address, however the hops that you go through to get to an address are out of your control. Even if you block the ips on the route, the packets can still be routed through them as long as the blocked ips aren't a destination.
The only effective way to alter routing that I can think of is using a proxy or VPN.
I had a friend tell me the same thing, I did it anyway because YOLO.
I ran tests for a few hours prior to doing anything and then after I was comfortable with the results (post blocking) I ran the tests again and never saw those IPs come back up. Unless they are hidden, my packets aren't touching them. The worst lag I'll get (usually) is server lag (CPU) or whatever stress causes the ability combos to lag very slightly.
Well, depending on how you blocked these IPs you could be altering your traceroute results (by blocking the replies from the intermediate hops) without altering how your actual packets are actually getting routed. It could be that or also sheer luck (as routing is supposed to change from time to time).
casting cure on tank
cure casts on me
the fuck?
also the amount of cats in the game
each time I join a new pt it's like opening a pack of XIV cards, and all the miqo'te are common shitty cards i've seen before
fates with waves of mobs which blatantly dont have enough HP
people who stole names of various items/bosses/server names.
I just got a coliseum shawl on my Taru scholar. I feel ill.
