Aside of the timer lockouts, how can you say you didn't grind dynamis or salvage.
lol, everything about XI was a grind. what the fuck are you smoking?
Also, the only actual "instances" in XI were boss fights, BCNMs, and crap like MMM/Assault/Salvage.
You are. I don't miss not getting Haidate like, 10 byakko in a row, or not being able to do dynamis or another zone because some other party of fuckfaces was in it already. I'd much rather have SOME ability to get gear upgrades via valor points than being completely at the mercy of drop rates.
Doing them once or twice a week didn't feel as much of a grind as repeatedly running the same XIV dungeon over and over.
You also had the choice of which Dynamis you wanted to run.
But I hear people are already speed running dungeons even at the expense of other players just to farm up them seals.
Can't wait until people tire themselves out and become bored
The problem with it isn't the design, it's that SE is fucking dumb and basically only put 1 option in for even remotely efficient grinding. Usually there's multiple endgame dungeons that give similar ilvl loot/equal valor points.
BUT THAT MAKES SENSE FUCK DOING THAT.
i guess he's saying you could only dynamis once every 3 days, salvage/assault once a day? though you could save up tags/permit and still spend hours per day
holy posts i missed batman
Why do I have to click "move online players to the top of the list" EVERY FUCKING TIME I open the LS menu.
well I guess i played XI long enough to have stockholm syndrome
can't really put it in words.
and can anyone tell me what the fuck happened to alphinauds sister?
Spoiler: show
Lol @ people who think the original FFXI relic requirements were good.
Not really, because it was just random fucking chance. It's not like haidate not dropping 15 times in a row was a matter of skill or anything, it was just completely random bullshit. I much prefer WoW's token system type thing for tier gear, along with other gear being standard random drop + ability to farm extra rolls that's currently in place. Makes it feel less soul-crushing when your item just straight doesn't drop for weeks at a time.
Haidate wasn't even the worst of 11's design. Better than competing against dozens of other groups for a monster that only pops once every 4 to 7 days for a chance at the best body you can equip.
