I look at the current caps and think of it this way: At least I didn't have to wait for JP Midnight 14 times during the relic quest line.

I'd like to see Coil on a currency system, where you could help people get some currency by shuffling them in without generating a whole 2 extra pieces of gear for the one person replacement.
Currently it's just shitty. Friend is transfering to our server when they open, "Oh you're a wHM? You better level a DPS so you can join us for Coil, we already have 2 Healers."
If it weren't for the lockout, I'd just rotate one of the healers for him so he can run it with us and get something, but I agree that generating 2 pieces of gear each time you rotate someone would be a bit much. With currency, everyone gets the same amount, nobody gets nothing, and you can just lock people out of currency each week instead of locking them out of the dungeon entirely.
An example, assume each clear gives everyone 10 of the currency. First clear with 8 people, everyone gets 10, total of 80 currency generated. Rotate someone else in, win, they get 10, total of 10 for the group. If you allowed this with the current system, both groups would get 2 pieces and the 2nd one would be 2 pieces for that one guy, which is a bit much for gear generation.
The whole progression system in general for this game is lopsided as fuck. Ifrit and Garuda are the only Primals with weapons that matter due to the fact that if you can beat Titan you can get a relic; Titan's loot pool is null outright due to that fact. Getting the relic +1 is actually easier than getting the relic (it's just a 3 week commitment a boring dungeon), and for a few jobs, +1ing make it best in slot. That nullifies some of the Allagan weapons which most players probably won't see because they're in Turn 5. If you stacked 2k Philosophy you could clear 2 relics in a day, and have the third at 200/900. This is ignoring crafted weapons all together since I don't think any of those beat Primal weapons, but hell they may, not like it matters since once you're on the relic train there's no reason to go back.
HQ lv70 weapons w/ materia are the same lvl as garuda weapon, in some cases probably better.
That was my guess, but considering those take hamlet mats I can't imagine why anyone would waste their time and effort for a weapon that's so easily replaceable. Unless there's something I'm missing that will make them outclass some NQ relics.
on unrelated note,
What's up with people using the "I only play FFXI before FFXIV" excuse for fucking up simple boss mechanics repeatedly, this happens a lot in coil, they're like deer in front of headlights.
People who do titan hard mode and insist on autoattacking to build limit for heart. Also the fact that people are terrible at dodging everything on that fight.
You can tell someone one million times 'if titan is standing on the last row of bombs down, bait out landslide before moving off the first row.' but it might as well be moon man language. *four people die to bomb damage because they dodged into the exploding row from the safe one*
Added note: screw helping people with titan and you see your the only name with a food buff next to it. I already have a fucking relic why am I trying harder then you?
Both of these drive me fucking insane. First off, I've said like 300 fucking times to please stand as close to the back of the circle when the last set of bombs are on the tanks side. What happens? Some dumb shit runs to the center to avoid the line that they dropped DIRECTLY on top of the fucking rock because no one has any foresight.
Second, our main group uses food for every single fight of everything we do. It's just accepted that the tank is not going to pull until everyone has a food buff next to their name. However, we sometimes carry some of our less experienced people through Titan/Garuda to be nice and help them get their relics. It irks the everloving FUCK out of me to see that they're not using food. I mean, comon. You know you're being carried, wouldn't you at least try to put 100% into it? Instead, they get hit by the first fucking rock explosion and die because they have no idea what the hell is going on, and didn't care enough to even get a few pieces of darklight to make sure their HP is high enough to survive at least one bomb blast. MAYBE THAT FOOD WITH SOME VIT ON IT WOULD HAVE SAVED YOUR LIFE LOL BUT YOU DIDN'T HAVE ANY BECAUSE YOU COMPLAIN YOU'RE POOR BUT HOW ARE YOU POOR YOU DIDN'T SPEND ANY OF YOUR PHILOSOPHY POINTS ON DARKLIGHT BECAUSE YOU SAID YOU WERE BUYING CRAFTING ITEMS TO SELL ON THE AH TO GET SOME MONEY SO WHICH ONE IS IT? YOU'RE UNDERGEARED BECAUSE YOU MADE MONEY, OR YOU DON'T HAVE FOOD BECAUSE YOU'RE POOR???? YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY BE BOTH????
Tell 'em why you're mad, son.
I admit I suck at healing on titan, post heart but man wtf with people getting hit by shit over and over and over. I have that fight so locked down on blm now that I can basically play with my eyes closed.
Here's like the only thing you need to know:
Did he just landslide? Then MB is coming next.
Did he just landslide during bombs? Then plumes are coming after MB
Did he just landslide during prison? Then stomp is coming after MB then plumes are coming.
If plumes are coming next, start running now so you don't get hit.
I don't like that start running before plumes shit. I like to know where is going to be safe instead of 3-4 folks running around making the whole damn circle the danger zone. I think it's much better for mages to pop sprint and everyone run when it comes up on his cast bar.... but then I realized healers can't see his cast bar which is really fucking frustrating. Stacking works pretty good but I see a lot of deaths because if someone fucks up when stacking they eat like 3 or 4 plumes instead of one.
Stacking is definitely the way to go if you can trust everyone to move. I've had plumes where people didn't stack, and I was literally surrounded on every side and had absolutely no chance of getting out.
I can't do this method. If I wait for plumes I consistently see two plumes pop, then a 3rd will lag and they all blow at the same time. Or they simply lag and I'll get hit because the cast bar has already been going. 30% of the time that I wait for a plume to pop to see if I need to move then I get hit. Much easier if I start running(being blm I can run far away from the rest of the party) and just never get hit. If you can actually wait and dodge them then more power to you. My dps would jump waaaaay up if I could do that. But due to the shitty latency that most people experience it's just not possible. Bottom line is: If you're getting hit, you're doing it wrong. Either react better or start moving before pop so you can win.
Yeah if my lag was off like that I'd have no choice but to pre-move it seems. I hear ya. I've won both stacking and spread out, just try to run away from peeps haha, don't be that guy that brings a plume to someone's safe zone!
