Not asking for 24 hour, 3 hour interval pops but I miss the open world being worth a damn instead of a place to only FATE grind to 50 then you completely ignore the world and do only instances. I'm guessing it'll be a year before they actually do anything different than just instances.

to be honest given what i have seen in the game its pretty sad that a p2p mmo has this many hacks already and this much indifference from the devs/gms. I've heard its better on the jp servers but that's really no surprise

don't think i've seen shit this bad since like, phantasy star online

i mean i know i should know better after playing xi for so long, i was just expecting maybe they'd care at lest a little bit that theres people teleporting around farming for hours straight and multiple people reporting them
    Wow...

I can't say I'm surprised. Where else did you think 360 billion gil or whatever it was came from in the space of a month? And that's just banned gil.

I guess that's kinda like early on in Phantasy Star Universe's life when people massively duped meseta and character cap was being sold on ebay for like 10 cents. I suppose that's a somewhat recent example of an online game handling cheating ineptly (though in PSU's case they just patched the thing like a few weeks later without randomly banning people).

I mean as far as bots go it's kinda hard to detect them if they follow the game's rules and the guy doesn't actually go afk, but I just think it's funny there's people teleporting around, instantly hitting max level and instantly capping their gil and SE somehow doesn't notice instantly. Or seem to care when a bunch of people report it...

Seems silly that after everyone reports all these bots and such they're there for weeks. I know they're building a case and linking accounts or w/e but in the mean time the game is being crushed by all these bots, that are literally teleporting around. You can sit there and watch the price of gathered materials plummet. Tie that to, outside of questing, not being able to earn gil easily enough just playing the normal game to make repair bills/teleport costs and you wonder why people buy gil. Make it so Fates give you like 150-200 gil a pop for 42+ and people wouldn't need to buy gil to play your game.

I think they have to build the links between accounts though, otherwise they will just keep popping up and instead of seeing the same bot spamming shouts, you'll see a new one each day but they will still always be there. Best plan is to follow the accounts, track where the money is being stored and nail those bank accounts, which effectively puts a halt on the activities for a bit since they have no bank to sell gil from at that point.

What is 14 written on anyways? Is it lua like WoW?

Need to find that craft/item/gil hack/dupe script so I can beat the game and quit.

Apparently by simply sifting through the Lua scripting that FF14 uses, people were able to figure out a JSON query that would retrieve your character's information from the character database. Further, any commands you send to the database are simply... not checked at all, and the database just takes the input commands and MODIFIES YOUR DATA DIRECTLY.

That means it was/is possible to simply tell the server "make me level 50 and give me six billion gil" and the server will... happily do it.

That is some high-quality programming, server input sanitisation and security right there. Good shit. In the year of our Lord 2013 you can simply send a Javascript request to SE's servers and give yourself billions upon billions of gold.
    nvm saw this...FUCKING LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLLLLLLLLLLL

Who the fuck does this shit when setting up a database server.

If that seriously works + all the teleport hacking I've seen, and who knows what other nonsense is going on, the hacking in this game is just ridiculous. No idea how they let something like that exist after how much hacking was done in FF11. Really hope they can actually track whoever is doing something like that and ban them though... But again, that amount of money in the economy will probably be removed, including wherever it went and people will QQ more.

And I'm supposed to now believe that those who had their gil blown away were 100% innocent.

    Yeah. Sure. Why not?

I don't see how the discovery of another game-breaking exploit is any more proof of guilt of the too rich to be innocent club than the numerous game-breaking exploits we already knew were floating around. Granted, I'm clueless when it comes to learning programming languages, but unless you have evidence that the people complaining about being banned for being too rich all knew lua you probably shouldn't assume they were guilty simply because yet another exploit exist(s/ed).

(Then again if RMT could just poof gil out of nowhere, why would they bother with all this teleport gathering etc at all?)

You dont need to know the language to be able to exploit it. There are tons of people who either just show people how to do it for fun, or attempt to sell methods of exploiting which end up getting leaked for free anyways for something like this. I mean its easily trackable on SE's side, which means people who were banned and not just suspended were prooooobbbbbbably guilty. Not saying 100% but yeah.

There are other bots besides the teleporting thing.

I noticed many since the last time I did gathering (long ago miner) on botanist, theirs a ton of botanist bots.

    Obvious characteristics of the bot.

    1. The ping pong run.
Runs from "possible" spawn locations of nodes to another, if no node is there when they get to it, they bounce off to another location.
Normal people do not randomly run to tree's/bushes and decide to go check another spot because they can't find anything at point blank range. They use radar/look for a sparkling point and run to it.

    2. The "after harvesting" stand still 1 second, use sprint and then 2 seconds later move.
Normal people are usually in motion already by the time they use sprint, or moving nearly instantly after hitting sprint.

    3. They tend to get "stuck" on something sometimes. I noticed the one in corethas between roc boss fate and the town, a bot gets stuck on a tree, he tries to jump over it, and starts running circles on a tree for a few seconds. (kind of funny to watch).

Yeah, it's amazing how bad the botting can be in the game. Reminds me of V1 back when that leveling bot came out and people were botting Coblyns/Puks in that one mine while standing perfectly still.

So, uh, a couple pages back someone was asking how people were gaining levels in crafting immediately - if there was a bot that was doing it.

It turns out the answer is yes, and some Japanese players have figured out how. Details here:
