I want crafting to be a better option, but definitely not with the NM cockblocks (or even the absurdity of tome mats right now). Unfortunately, bring it up anywhere and you get the, "But the RMT...!" whining. Just find it sad for a lot of synths the shards cost more than the materials used in 'em.
eh I think that is kinda based on the server/how much you stalk the ah. I feel like I make good money as carpenter. Probably not as good as the ones you listed, but it's been way more than enough from me to spend my gils on what I want and still have a lot left over for when housing hits.
lol you can make decent money on anything at any level. probably less so as time goes on but yeah.
or my server is just a unique snowflake. probably
i did forget there is no game outside lvl 50 though, my mistake.
Considering Yoshi-P, the producer stated himself "the game starts at level 50", yes.
You also have zero reason to use crafting outside of level50 besides leveling it up. Doesn't change the fact weaver, leatherworker, carpenter(boots only), and goldsmithing are the only crafts that make useful items for battle jobs at 50.
My complaint: No reason to play the game after clearing coil in 45 minutes then capping myth tomes 1 hour later. Coil lock out timers and myth tomes being per job needs to go.
Yea I'm finding this a bit stupid myself, shards costing 30-50 gil each and virtually ever synth higher than lvl 40 uses 10+ shards of varying kinds.
Off-hand example: atm it costs more than 400g in shards (plus ~240g in mats) to make a single apple juice, which sells for 200-300g NQ.
As far as I can tell, the best gil to be made by DoL is to just spend the day in Mor Dhona gathering clusters every 10 mins.
edit: another example, it takes 5 wind shards (250g) and 4 electrum ore (140g) to make an electrum ingot.
Yeah shards need some adjusting, pretty much everything I can make that isn't 1 or 2 star costs more money in shards than. materials. I've posted about this issue on the OF but no dev response. Really needs to be more efficient sources of gathering shards and consumables need to take 1/10th the shards they currently do. Consumables in general need completely revamped/rebalanced/adjusted though.
Said it before, but the crystal yield DoL abilities need their costs reduced significantly. Like maybe to 50 GP per use. From there, scale up node distribution so maybe level 40-50 nodes give 4 shards by default or something. But in general, it's not unheard of to be able to blow through shards faster than you can gather them yourself due to later level synths taking so many.
I still don't get these complaints - you are asking to gear your jobs faster which in turn means running out of absolutely everything to do faster. There are viable complaints but making changes such as myth tomes tied to classes won't fix a damn thing except burn you down faster.
Anyway a real complaint today:
Ran into a CNJ in Halatali that wouldn't heal the tank until he was at 10% and then only do one cure. We proceed to ask him to use damage spells when he's not healing to make the run go faster. He replies "What about aggro". We laugh and tell him that he won't pull aggro. To prove us wrong he decides to spam Medica and laugh at us saying "See I can pull hate". We facepalm hard. Turns out his only other class is a level 50 PLD. How these people get to 50 is astounding (I mean I understand...but come on)
And because I'm an asshole here is his Lodestone - He's from Shiva server as well.

No I'm not, I'm asking to be able to play the game. I can't do coil more than once a week, the only fun and challenging content where you get to actually play your class to the fullest, I can do a single time per week, and it takes 45 minutes to clear turn 1-4. That's insane.
How will tying myth tomes to classes make me burn out faster? Are you aware I can make a new character for each job I want to level, and have a separate coil lock and myth tome cap on every character? Why does this go completely over everyone's head? Even if I do burn out faster, why do you care? How does that negatively affect you in ANY WAY whatsoever? It's my $13/month, why should you or SE be telling me how much I should be playing?
The problem is: I can bypass this artificial tome cap barrier by making a new character for each job I want to play, which makes one of the advertised game defining features, the armory system, serve no purpose outside of cross-class 24/36 skills, crafting, and gathering at the level cap. I can also do coil on every single job if I make a new character, and I get 200-300k gil from leveling on a new character, all my quests reset, and I don't have to just fate grind. There is so many benefits to making a new character, and that is not right in a game that advertises playing every job on a single character and charges me more per month for more characters on a single server.
At the end of the day though, it's not about gear, it's not about getting gear faster, it's not about character progression, it's not about any of that. It's about actually being able to play the damn game, which I get to do 45 minutes a week. Yay? I want to help my friends, I want to help my FC, I want to play all my jobs in coil, I can't unless I make a new character.
Why am I paying $13-15month to be restricted to how much I can play, and the restriction is so severe it's 2 hours of playtime per week of character progression, and 45 mins per week of fun challenging content? Does anyone honestly think that's worth a monthly sub?
I want to buy Astral Jewelery for my SCH but 9 potatos ores/Animal Fat for equip that is going to be obsolete in one month (or less, depending on coil drops or af2 stuff) is ffucking crazy.
Damn linear gear progression. :/
In their defense healers in other games typically don't do DPS. They heal full-time. Healers typically play healers because they want to heal, you know, instead of shaving .5 seconds off of a trash fight with their DPS.
lv50 dungeons via DF is pretty much a fucking nightmare. Did a few runs from folks in my FC, but they, like the pubbies preferred DL/relics which isn't a problem, but it sorta makes it really fucking tedious on a first job.
That's one reason I don't do speed runs. I don't know crap about where to sac. I just go through and mow down whatever gets in my way.
