Man, I haven't run into a single person in the DF that's asked for a speed run (in AK... not 100% sure what dungeon you're referring to). Weird.
I "used" to ask people in AK whether they wanted first run, normal run, or speedrun. More often than not they ask for speedrun. 9 out of 10 cases, when they say speedrun, they mean killing everything but easily skippable stuff. Mind you this was weeks after the patch and the new speedrunning technique was already quite well known.
I'm usually more specific. I tend to ask "Am I sac-pulling?", which usually gives a more direct response.
Though there was that time when I got the reply "SPEED!"
That's all he said. "SPEED!" Like, what the fuck does that even mean?
This is me. I don't give a fuck about speed runs. Most of my WP take 20ish minutes with 2 single target DDs and I just do it while watching Top Gear re-runs.
I already have all crafts 50 and shit, not much incentive to stress myself out trying to get save 20 minutes over the course of 2 hours.
Edit: And personally, the gil per hour I could get from WP speed runs is far less than the gil per hour I can get doing any number of other things (involving crafting) so that kinda kills it for me. I totally get why some people want speed runs, but I'm fine just DFing with the girlfriend and taking what we get.
Has anyone else noticed that the game won't auto-DC you if you've been AFK too long if you're stuck in the crafting position? I was doing synths and left my desk for 30min leaving my guy kneeling with the craft window open (not doing a synth), and when I came back there was a red error message saying a command couldn't be executed while crafting. Looks like the game tried to /exit me out but couldn't. Not sure if praise or complaint, but just FYI!
Also works if in conversation with a NPC, vendors, or retainers.
Actually on that note, I've been afk for ~20 minutes a few times over the past month and would remember "oh hey I'm still logged in", move around a bit, but if I didn't keep doing stuff I'd 90k within ~15 seconds. Could just be coincidence but wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Also have had it happen when I return from afk while "blocking" the autolog timer as outlined.
It's an old bug... if you're ever in a position where you won't be able to log out, either crafting or in a config menu or something, the system will try to log you out but you'll get the "Unable to log out" message instead. It's a rough but workable way to stay logged into the game if you want to for whatever reason.
There's a lot of ways to stay logged in like that.
Unfortunately, while it allows you to stay logged in, you can't log in from a different place if you leave yourself like that.
Annoying.
Not sure why I even bother trying to play on a Monday night, shits so unresponsive
edit: third DC, anyone on the west coast feeling the same shit?
Was fine until about 15 minutes ago. Then I've gotten 5 90k's since then, can't even stay logged in for more than 2 minutes.
I didn't even bother playing tonight- my interwebs are crappy enough without having to worry about extra server lag.
Ya, I think I'm skipping Monday nights from now on.
Also, F Se for creating incentives for AoE only classes. Really hating the WP changes because of this as I'm MNK main and everyone wants AoE speedruns.
I've done WP in 13mins with a highly-geared MNK and BLM. It's really not as bad as people seem to think based on their avoidant behavior of MNK. People are just lazy and want the easy way out all the time, but worse yet, refuse to play if a party setup doesn't check all the pre-constructed boxes in their dumb brain.
PLDs in Coil T1 who don't use their cooldowns until they're almost fucking dead and I'm low on MP. Why do they exist?
I tell the MT to use cooldowns more proactively, he starts the battle with Bloodbath.
Where is a table so I can fucking flip it?
