Whoops, I did mean December. That's what I get for trying to write something when I'm dead tired.
Either way, point still stands. I'd kill for the balance/Dungeon changes/etc. to happen in a small update and then have CT come in Deceember.
I don't know why people say voice chat is important for turn 2. Mark 5 players for a rot order, designate a Silence order for two people and away you go. The rest is just keeping out of the AoEs and no amount of communication will help with that unless you're bringing someone for the first time who doesn't know what to expect.

you don't truly know the contents of another player's heart until you hear the screams
Voice chat is 100x better than no voice chat, motherfuckers need to stop trying to deny it. It's a massive help during progression content where you have to work out and adjust strategies on the fly. It's cool you're shy, socially retarded or scared your family/roomies might judge you for being a nerd but you can stop pretending you're anything but a detriment by not using it in a group that wants to.
At the very least you can turn on voicechat to listen for instructions.
It's not simply "Voice" Communication but any communication and when the only person screwing things up is the person who refuses to speak or respond by typing, it's a problem. We went from missing tons of HVs due to stupid shit, to missing 0 with a simple, "Hey, you're up XXX", "You're up first on next boss XXX".
Yea, you can do it without speaking, but if I say "Blunt is down, you are up first next boss" and you don't respond, so I type it and you still say/type nothing, then miss your silence, things get fucked fast. Then next time I say it again, no response and you DO silence but shockingly my Bunt was up in time, so I did as well, not sure if you are retarded or not?
Communication is key for some shit. At least type shit if you won't talk. I don't need you to tell me your life story or have long conversations, but it's not hard to say, You're up and Got it. It's a little harder to type shit in this game, with needing to dodge shit every couple seconds. Sure, I can handle things when the WHM(hi2uCarth!) accidentally mutes himself and never tells me when to get rot off him, it just makes things a little harder on me(though that is way easier then knowing if your other stunner is going to actually stun).
100% agree with this. It helps immensely. If you want to get people who are shy using it, let them know that it's fully ok to type their questions or responses into game chat. If they don't want to talk that's fine. (I'm old but,) there are a lot of people who play whose parents don't want them chatting so they have to hide it. Be ok with not having people talk and your participation in voicechat should go up.
On the voice chat debate, it really is nice for communication. One group I run things with (eg Titan HM) can be very bad about getting off on a tangent during a run, though. And with how hard it can be to type for some people on the PS3, voice chat is great.
I am on Cactaur and the reason is: confirmation bias. I tend to notice that people from Ragnarok are pretty stupid. Had a DRG in AK last night who seriously only used the True Thrust > Vorpal Thrust > Full Thrust combo. Nothing else. Even after I told him about Heavy Thrust.
But, honestly, Cactaur does have it's share of morons. I see some of the dumbest shouts while wandering around sometimes.
Oh totally. I don't deny every server has it's share of morons. Just the ones that pissed me off enough to actually look what server they were on? All from Cactuar. (So yeah, confirmation bias ahoy)
The last one I had was a group of full DL relic+1 PLD/BRD/BLM. They could burn stuff down no problem, they just failed spectacularly in every other area:
PLD says they're speedrunning, sac pulls and dies way before destination so we wipe.
Next, without saying anything, he makes a pull again and stops in the hallway (5 hippos + 1 dullahan). I guess we were supposed to be fighting them but fuck if I know how I was supposed to know that.
Rest of the run was large pulls which I don't have a problem with, but his BLM and BRD buddy would agro SOMETHING else every time.
It wasn't even really that horrible in retrospect, I mean at least it was fast. Just hate that kind of attitude in DF (and seriously who relies on DF for a healer to "speedrun". A DF healer.)
Don't ask about skill bar 3, it suddenly appeared as my game froze

what is this a titan for ants?
Though I'm taking my time gearing WAR and learning how to tank, I can see why people are getting more and more restless when it comes to updates.
It still stands to reason that people could just unsub til 2.1 or 2.2. I believe the Crystal Tower update is lowkey because of iLvl80 gear, but more so being added as the groundwork for higher level tiers which they would add later. 2.1 is gonna be a pretty huge update that should keep us occupied until the end of January anyways, just in time for 2.2.
January seems incredibly hopeful since I could've sworn they said 3-4mo between updates and 2.1 seems to be slated for December, that's like February/March at best.
More DRG gear in coil. This is backwards game design. Why can't we have turn-in pieces like WoW?
Unsubbing accomplishes nothing if you're still playing because you're trying to cap out a single character's gear through coil and myth upgrades. The problem with this is that you essentially cap all weekly progression in a single night, and then have nothing else to do. Unsubbing fixes none of that. You lose out on gear progression.
Now, if SE sold nightly subscriptions, that's an option. Thousands of people could sub for a single day each week, pay something like a dollar a day, and only pay 4 bucks per month to experience all of SE's best content. The fact that this absurd idea actually holds water because of the lack of content at end-game is both hilarious and sad.
