The PVP bit is most certainly true, and they should have launched with PVP. There's no arguing that.
However, from a purely PVE standpoint, ARR does not differentiate itself from the norms of raiding. Once you've cleared things once or twice, you raid once (maybe twice) a week.
Edit: I think you'd also be surprised by how many people are okay with that, as well. They log on once or twice a week to do their raids, maybe one other day to farm up consumables for said raid, and spend the rest of the week playing other games / doing other things other than play that MMO.
So random complaint somewhat FFXIV related:
Nothing to do now in game but coil one day a week so been looking at steam for another game to play. Came across Nether. It says "Early Access $30". Which is actually "Beta". Watched the video with the Dev interview going over game play and he basically says the game is unfinished except for basics and they did it this way so players could give them feedback and they'll change the game as they want.....
wait.
So now dev's are selling "Early Access" for a price which is actually "Beta" which is actually an unfinished game. I looked on steam and there's a handful of games with this status. So basically SE made 1.0 which sucked but people payed for, got feed back and reworked the game from the ground up and now have all these subs and... other dev's are doing it? Downfall of video games is now upon us. Not even going to go on about how the game made me sick watching someone play it for 30 minutes because of the camera view and shoddy FPS.
What? That's not what Steam Early Access is for in the slightest. It might be abused by some developers, but a lot use it as an easy way to get beta testers. It's clearly labeled, and if people are willing to pay to get the game early, and contribute to the game's potential future success, why shouldn't they?
It's nobody's fault but your own if you purchase a bad Early Access game. Seriously.
Well maybe not other games, but I've seen complaints when searching for reviews about Nether and everyone said "Release date Nov 5th" but it turns out something about servers crashing because of too many subs (sound familiar?) and now the game is in beta or something. Regardless, watching the game play was horrible. Concept was cool but it just looked stupid with how bad movements and graphics are.
I'm not sure I was following the point to begin with, so my apologies for that. It looks like you're saying there isn't enough to do on a weekly basis? I'd argue that, because there's plenty for me to do in a given week. It's all fairly subjective.
There's never a problem with more content, though, and SE could have potentially launched the game with more stuff to do (PVP, Crystal Tower). It doesn't change the fact that not everyone is capping out on everything in one night, or even in two nights.
Not sure why people think PvP would save anything. It's typically one of the least desired activities within the western market despite its incredibly vocal minority. On paper, sure, you can say it'd never be the same activity twice, but then you just replace being sick of grinding dungeons with being sick of grinding Warfront X (where you get rolled by pre-mades or just generally stuck with people who don't cooperate). On games where there's open world PvP, shit just gets worse for the customer when stuff like twinking, gank squads, balance issues, and overleveled players enter the equation. Perhaps the one thing right here in XIV right now is there's no combat stealth class decked to the nines with stuns and various other fuck you mechanics for people to flock to and cheese easy kills, but it's also a safe bet ranged classes are going to be the popular options from the get go.
Like it or not, money's in the PvE basket. I just hope SE isn't running under the impression that people just want more dungeons/raids here because that'll lead to me quitting in the long term. Why? Well, that usually leads to trivializing crafting and open world content. But I'm sure this is a song and dance some don't want to see me repeat.
I have a feeling that this whole time we've still been playing the beta version.
1.0 was alpha, 2.0 is beta, then once 3.0 comes out we'll actually get the real version
gg SE gg
To keep the spirit of the thread strong...
What the hell at a maintenance every 2-3 nights? This is why you don't hire Quebecois to run your servers!
I always pray with every random update outside of the myth cycle that it resets myth.
Complaint at myself for missing more than one Circle of Scorn during Turn 4 and the Clockwork Soldier murders the mages.
Yeah, and they end up all tanking because of that.
Developers need to realize is no longer 2002 and mmorpg could afford to be released half broken and with 3 dungeons. It doesn't also help that today mmorpg are all about instant gratification and letting players reach max level in 2 weeks.
Titanic Sawfish.
That is all.
As a 50 fisher who hasn't quite filled up his fishing pokedex. Whats the deal with titanic sawfish?
Double mooch
Merlthor Goby > Wahoo > Titanic Sawfish
Goby and Wahoo can instead catch Silver Shark.
Titanic Sawfish also is only catchable during daytime in clear weather.
It's notoriously rare for most. The Mor Dhona fish I mentioned is the same kind of "asshole double mooch" but only requires gloomy (purple) weather. The fish in the chain are all garbage though.
