What is the Sawfish even for? XIVDB and GE both don't list anything.

Bragging rights, as with basically every */** fish right now except like Mahi-Mahi.
And the naive hope that it'll be used for furniture.
Fucking Matsya all over again.
I agree that it's good to have to prevent screw ups and I'm of the opinion that if you're doing serious end game content you should at the least be listening on a voice chat channel. I'm always one of the first to be signed on for an FC event but I don't speak. I still think it's importance is often over stated though, maybe the game just lacks the content right now where it is super important. Saying that I've yet to do turn 5.
But like your HV example. I don't see why that problem would arise, I'm normally one of the silencers on turn 2 when I play BRD and the ordering hasn't become a problem unless me or the other person uses theirs by accident too early. But that just throws things off altogether because the other person will have used theirs and chances are no one can silence the next. Normally we have the same person go first on every mini boss/ADS even if they just used it on the last one at 10% HP because by the time you finish the mini boss, run to the next and it using HV your Blunt is back up.
Worst case on an error I can stop DDing for a few seconds to type something that important, it's not like that turn is a big DPS race. Technically it is due to the 12 minute thing but it's so lenient you only notice the timer if someone DCs and you have to wait before pulling. If someone is so bad that they aren't willing to respond to instructions or type when they screw up then they shouldn't be there. That's a general communication issue rather than them not using voice chat.
I don't have a problem with voice communication for actual content, but I know a few players ingame who seem to think that it should be the only means of communicating anything. That annoys me, because I'm not the type to socialize in voice chat. Call me old fashioned, I guess.
Personally, I don't think it's too onerous just to listen in if nothing else when you're doing content, just for organization's sake. It's not really necessary for most content, but hey, if people want you to do it, it's not too much of an imposition.
FFXIV's content problem is a big one, and one that's litterly affecting me now.
The PvP has been talked about, and i agree, it would have been a great hold-over until they can get the first content patch out, but just brain storming on how potentially bad it is, look at it this way.
The moron's (this includes myself) who played the scheit fest that was 1.0 ((it was bad, if you didn't... like... people would zone into the "market wards" and there were multiple cases of people d/c'ing and litterly losing their character FOREVER. No joke, like every trick in the book to try and recover it, friends logging them on, changing network cards, you name it. SE's 5 people that did their tech support had no answer))
are sitting around doing their once a week raid, and bouncing for the rest off the week to more entertaining stuff (other MMO's, Online card games, FPS, whatever) And these are the hardcore SE fans... the ones that kept this leaky nuclear sub afloat through the meltdown.
But the difference is, they're not going to stay around and deal with 1.0 bullshit. They're going to stop paying SE and go do other things. The other 1million new players that 2.0 pulled in are gonna be fine until they wind up at endgame (honestly this is the situation currently) and then their going to do the same. Example:
a) Legacy player X has all jobs at 50 and decent enough gear for coil turn 4 for 4-6 of those jobs. Player X can fill any role needed in a coil group (hypothetically, skill withstanding)
b) 2.0 player X has 2-3 jobs at level 50, one of which is probably their main and they can fill 1 (maybe 2) roles in a BC pug/static.
Legacy players stop playing, 2.0 players can't find people to fill roles(except in PUG's, sorta) and now they can't even get a reliable static going because they have to recruit new players who hopefully haven't done the turn their on, 2.0 players stop playing, SE blames the developers instead of themselves (cause honestly the cause of this problem is SE's lack of willingness to pump money into 2.0, even after it's initial success) and winds up going into the red for their earnings and shit spirals out from there.
This might seem a bit abstract, but it's not so strange to think this is happening currently.
Compound that with the fact that SE has basically reverted back to their "we won't respond or listen to the players, and definetly not the western players" attitude they had in XI for so long, ON TOP of the knowledge that the upcoming content is going to be the same fights over, with new "tougher" mechanics and a dungeon with rewards that are lower than the dungeon that is currently in the game, legacy folks have PvP (which most legacy folks feel will be middling to retardedly broken) and Free company housing, which...if you dont' have a Free company /shrug
It's just a recipe for another botched online video game mmo.
I hope my rambling thoughs are way off base, and i hope i'm completely wrong, but if you start thinking about the grand scheme of FFXIV with it's history and it's current situation, in addition to what we know about the future; it doesn't seem that outlandish and that makes me want to find greener pastures already.![]()
Wtf bros, this isn't cool, 5k drops inbetween; this is why we can't have nice things.
Spoiler: show
reported for hate speech
It's just german dude.
I was more surprised that I saw a tell that wasn't from an RMT.
But yeah, gg on your n-bomb bro.
I said it's not specifically Voice communication that is necessary but all communication in the first line...
Voice is 1000x easier and quicker though and *gasp*, you don't have to stop doing anything to do it. I'm not asking for your life story every time you get on, just 3s of speech to confirm something. I get some girls not wanting to get on because people harass girls but they are usually pretty good about typing in my experience.
Details on the Wolves' Den, Beast Tribe Daily Quests, and Treasure Hunts will be revealed in the next LIVE letter.
