Different gear doesn't have to be different simply because it comes from a HNM vs. another instance. They just launched with too little top-end content. We've already established this.

Until SE stops being Japanese and fixes their shit to the point where character and POS hacking doesn't exist, I don't want my gear drops relying not only on SE's RNG bullshit, but also on other players cheating me out of my proper attempt. Keep the worthwhile shit in instanced content; just make fucking more of it if you can't be arsed to figure out how to properly code a game.
I don't think most people want 24-48 hour repop NM's only a single raid can claim, they wan't force pop NM's and outdoor world content that can be done as often as they like with random people, but aren't horribly easy/zerged fates, and give cool gear and items that can be used to upgrade your character. There being zero reason to leave a city at level50 and the game turning into Dungeons: The game isn't very fun.

I assume, sorry if I'm wrong, most people want to be able to do lots of different things to gear their character, and being able to run around zones farming normal mobs with 30seocond repops that drop an item to force pop a boss, and the boss can be popped by as many people as possible at a single time, while no one outside your group can heal or help you and it auto-claims to your group after popped, then that boss drops a pop item that chains into a harder boss and it keeps chaining and chaining boss after boss until you get to a truely hard boss. Each boss would have a chance at loot while the final boss has MUCH greater chance but it's equal to titan hardmode in difficulty or harder, that would be FUN and give us a lot more things to do. Have these bosses drop myth tomes, philo tomes, and some unique gear with ilvl 80 or 81 or 79 or 88-89 something, make it an ilvl that's worth getting for, but give them different stat mixes than Allagan/Darklight/AF2.

Also wouldn't it be cool as a lowbie or newbie to be running around a level 20 zone, then see some group fighting some GIGANTIC boss in the open world? You get closer and go "Wow! That looks awesome! I can't wait to do that!". Stuff like that is what's missing, stuff like that is what the game needs for flavor, with everyone in their own little "world" aka instances, the game feels so secluded and small, everyone is basically in their own little world and the major towns or Rev toll feel like a lobby while the dungeons feel like games/rooms people join to play the game.

Bonus: Make the bosses that you pop have AOE that hit everyone, even people outside your party, to make them feel more epic and fun. Make people afraid to get close to watch your party. Not required and might be abused to MPK people, but I personally miss a scary world and MPKing and stuff like that, made the world feel like an adventure.

Also, I don't see why they can't add roaming NM's that can only be claimed by a single party, but give them a reasonable repop time, like a few hours at most, and add at least one in every zone. After these NM's die, they open a phased portal like the chim fight for Relic that any player can take, which sends players parties into an instanced 4-8 man, depending on boss, version of these bosses. This allows anyone who wants to do the bosses to do them as they please. This portal stays up for a few hours after the boss is killed. Have these bosses drop myth tomes, philo tomes, and some unique gear with ilvl 80 or 81 or 79 or 88-89 something, make it an ilvl that's worth getting for, but give them different stat mixes than Allagan/Darklight/AF2. This will make them relevant and worth doing for upgrades and gear. Optional: They could also make the initial version only a single party can claim drop the same exact gear with the exact same stats, but have it glow or have some special particle effect around it. None of the above gear drops would be 100%

This accomplishes many things, it fixes the problem of competing, it adds world bosses to the outside world, it makes the outside world relevant, it adds 2 different forms of content to do to gear up and progress your character and makes the world feel more epic, alive, and scary. This allows everyone to experience the content as well, so it fixes all the major problems with roaming NM's as well as open world content people had in FFXI, and adds it in a new modern way to make everyone happy but also keep the flavor of open world and NM's. It was such a fantastic feeling seeing some group fighting a world boss in WOW, or seeing some group taking on serket in FFXI while I was leveling in garlaige, scared for my life because it's poison AOE kept hitting me, but I wanted to watch anyways!

I'm not going to disagree with any of what you've suggested, but this is a company that can't even roll out a goddamn dungeon percentage change without it being bundled into some 3-month content package. My point is for them to get to work. I don't care what the content is at the end of the day so long as its not easily exploitable and isn't some Japanese bullshit.

Why did I have to wait for some sort of PVP to be introduced into a 2013 game? Why do I have to wait MONTHS for a percentage change that could be hotfixed in quicker than SE "fixing" the hilarious loot pool from Turn 1?

Its not a "your ideas are bad" situation. Its a "I can't trust SE to properly implement your ideas" situation. What proof have they given us to dispel fears and uncertainty? "Faith in Yoshi-P" only goes so far. Hard evidence goes farther.

Having to wait 4 months for a fucking simple auto-sort UI change is another level of incompetence. I agree SE is very incompetent and can't do anything properly, they implement anything and they somehow fuck it up in ways that a company hasn't done for the past decade.

Yoshida went from hero to villain in record time. I guess thats why Tanaka decided to be a smug motherfucker from the beginning. Less disappointment when the fans turn on you and demand you be dragged through the streets.

Good post. The game feels like a lobby server for like 5 instances right now. That's nice and all, once a week when you're in the mood, but I like my MMOs to be fun hobbies- something you can't wait to do in your free time. Not something that you might decide to do when you don't have much else to do...but then again might not. That's just a regular video game, and I don't place much of those....gotta be real bored.

A lot of their ideas are so fucking backwater, I'm surprised this game is still in business. For example, they said they have no plans of changing animation before damage, whereas all MMOs I've played allow for the dmg to show up alongside the animation. The fact that I have to wait 1.75s for my Rage of Halone to go off before seeing any dmg is beyond ridiculous. You can't access or speak to NPCs while mounted, wtf?! The response time is slower than other MMOs. Nevermind the fact that game shipped with no PvP and only 1 dungeon @ launch.

Aside from the one character can play all classes and their devotion to story/cutscenes, this game's score would be far below that of other modern MMOs like RIFT, WoW, Everquest 2 and more at their launch.

Agreed. I remember running through zones in XI where a big NM pops and be like "whoaaaaaa" and some LS would be fighting it. If I got too close I would take damage. I think being able to walk right up to a NM that another LS is fighting and have no fear of taking damage really dulls the game. Also, like so many people have said, the world in this game is completely useless. Once you hit 50 you're in a city or rev toll. No where else, except wineport for your one BC run a week. The hot fixes that could implement but don't, and wait for major patches to fix stupid shit like T1 loot, autosort, etc. is beyond ridiculous. SE is really turning into the most lackluster company ever for how big/old it is.

The OF is pretty much a fester of fanboys/White Knights that still believe Yoshida is some kind of savior, so not really a surprise. I'll give the man credit for trying his damnedest to save a sinking ship, but at the same time I feel he fell short on quite a few critical areas.

I can see the friendslist mail being put in due to RMT, SE seems so afraid of RMT coming from FFXI...yet they havn't really done anything worthwhile to combat them still. Patch in December will be very telling of where this game is going and is a huge factor for a lot of people I think. The game is decent for a MMO, and far better then the shit FFXIV was. But it's not something that hooks you well enough, there's no desire to keep playing, I fuck around with crafting and FATE lvling but I feel no real need to, because crafting can only provide so much for income as FATE grinding doesn't require any gear...

This is what MMOs have been lacking forever. That sense of "HOLY FUCK LOOK AT THAT!" when you're low level and climbing up through the levels. (WoW had a few times for that, but most are just scripted NPCs attacking each other, then you show up to do 3 quests there and move on). I miss seeing huge events going on while moving through a zone, knowing that you can do that someday. Zones are too laid out with A > B > C so that every idiot knows where to go, and wont bitch when they take a turn into an area that's 30 lvls over them. Maybe it's the playerbase mindset or something, but I also hate the whole "rush to the end, fuck everything else!" mentality of MMOs nowadays. Granted there isn't much to stop for along the way though.

This is what MMOs have been lacking forever. That sense of "HOLY FUCK LOOK AT THAT!" when you're low level and climbing up through the levels.
There were a lot of these in XI, like quests mobs in valkurm dunes and the rams in La Theine/Konschtat. However, for these types of things to exist there needs to be a game that exists not at the level cap. It took a lot of effort and time to level classes in that game for quite a while, and thus you were able to experience that awe of wanting to get higher level. In order to make that work though, you need content that is not endgame only. Only masochists will play a game that's nothing but lots and lots of grinding until endgame. I personally wouldn't say that xi had enough mid level content to make that work until CoP.

I doubt we'll get to experience that type of feeling in xiv, since they made leveling everything pathetically easy.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

They get all the encouragement they need on the OF. I swear I gotta block that website.

Some guy made a thread the other day asking to let us send tells in dungeons. Many of the responses are, "NO RMT WILL SEND US TELLS." (And then it's apparently rude to send tells in a dungeon....)

I was never "on his side" to begin with. As a customer, I'm always wary about a product. A customer who isn't is a pretty easily-bilked customer. Evidence is what builds trust. There's a lack of evidence of competency in regards to this game, especially post-launch, when all of its flaws are exposed to the naked eye.

If you think everything is butterflies and lolipops, then good for you. This probably isn't your thread, then. I see a lot more of Me's here than You's.

That's another example of flawed approach; disallowing players from communicating in tells while in dungeons or receiving tells. Seriously, how fucking stupid do you have to be to not permit this? I wonder if the old team of FFXI is somehow still involved in the dev team or if Yoshi actually threw this idea initially. For reasons such as these, I want this game to fail and then maybe they'll learn a lesson.
