Don't kid yourself. They quit because they wanted to quit. They didn't accomplish the goal they set out to accomplish and because of that they whined and quit. They didn't feel accomplished because they set their goal as high as could be and didn't make it, that is all.
If you are just gonna complain all day about "lag" and "on my screen" and "that must be a bug" then stop playing mmos forever. Even if everyone of those complaints is 100% legitimate 100% of the time, you either play through it or quit early. But that's not what happened to those guys. They complained about that, got beaten to world first, and then quit. If all that other shit was such a big deal they would have left the before falling short of their goal, not after they made a big butthurt post on their frontpage.
Seriously, it wasn't the game in their case, it was just them.
I figured out during P3 beta that the cross-class system is essentially useless, kinda of a shame.
I've never once changed my cross-class skills on any of my 3 level50 capped jobs. Not a single time, never leveling up either, I set them slowly as I unlocked a new one then never changed. That's what we call a pointless or badly developed feature.
I really hope so, if it doesn't have holy trinity that might kinda suck though. I prefer holy trinity MMO combat, not really a fan of action based combat for PVP and I prefer PVP to PVE.
I have to disagree with you here; this entire game, barring dungeons and Coil, is casual, and if you're a tank/healer, dungeons are also casual because your queue times are usually zero. Everything about leveling any of the classes can be done by yourself and you can make measurable improvement given small time frames. Literally, the 'hardest' part of the game is sitting in the DF queue, as a lone DPS, or completing Coil; the latter of which is pretty pug worthy up to/through Turn 4 due to Mythology gear alone. A game can thrive off of this, but the HC gamers will obviously criticize and venture away. IF this is what SE truly wants, then they still need to churn out far more content then they are, as well as fix all the damn face smacking tree branch issues like GCD, animation lock, lag, and many other things mentioned.
Yeah latency as a US (east coast) vs EU player are like night and day during stuff like Titan. BG cleared T5 with a bunch of high latency peeps though, so it's not like that's a great excuse either. I run Titan a ton and getting hit by plumes I'm way out of isn't uncommon though, it's a very big factor.
I highly recommend WTFast. I play from the UK on a 500kb/s connection at the best of times and my latency is still low enough to dodge everything thanks to that magnificent program. Highly recommend.
I play from Europe and I never get hit by anything but tumults or geocrush.
if I DO get hit, it's my own fault.
On my old PC I kept getting hit while " out of it on my screen"
On my new one, it never happened again.
Some people in my FC complain about lag, while I'm halfway around the world and don't experience any.
^ same boat, although I occasionally clip a Weight of the Land, but I've only had 3 attempts at the fight as "DPS" (WAR)
For me, even though I'm EU, the hit detection lag has gradually improved since release. Going from frequently being hit from supposedly easy to dodge aoes (low level mobs, void fira in AK...) during the first few weeks to being able to dodge Titan's plumes reactively if I'm feeling lazy to think about what's coming next. Others aren't so lucky and probably would benefit from something like this.
However, even if the issue were still significant on my side, I wouldn't be eager to pay another monthly fee just so I could specifically play a broken game effectively.
Edit: I haven't changed my computer nor my connection during that time.
I like it because it doesn't just "fix" latency issues like this, but it actually enhances your playing experience by making everything more responsive (and works on the vast majority of games) - that is why I can justify paying for it.
Didn't cap myth this week. Just getting my 150 from coil from now on because I can't be bothered to run the same boring ass dungeon 5x a week. Doesn't look like this game is going anywhere any time soon with the way the devs are rolling out stuff.
Maybe my shitty laptop is to blame then. It's never an issue as DPS/healer but when I'm paying 0 attention tanking I forget I have to dodge once the shitters we're carrying die. Once I know I'm dodging it's never an issue. If a bunch of plumes stack on my screen its not unusual for FPS to drop to ~15. Pretty sure it's not just that though, watching streams/videos of NA players shows they have all the time in the world to dodge.
A game that I can literally only read 25% of onscreen info, has better latency, and is more entertaining than what ffxiv has been this past month. (Phantasy star online 2)
Im a huge fan boy, but my sub runs through nov. And no ammount of bonus tripe will probably get me to pay for more.
I suppose I don't see any of that as "casual" then. The way how I see things as casual content are things that aren't associated to exp or gear grinding, similar to the "extra modes" you'd see in single player games. Right now players have two choices: Grind a class to Level 50 or grind to ilvl90 gear, with not much wiggle room in between. The ones who would be considered casuals are simply playing at a slower pace.
While casual can commonly be linked to how much one plays, if I'm being more practical about it, I look to it as content you can do with no strings attached. This typically translates to being solo friendly and not being some giant grind. So, while a bit grindy with quests exhausted, I still consider leveling a casual thing. I'm not so much keen on saying the same for dungeon running, at least as a DPS where you're left waiting for 30m+ a lot of the time just to do that specific something. I know I don't gravitate toward the fluff element of casual classification, either, so things like vanity gear or housing don't really tickle my funny bone. Otherwise, I'll just reiterate again that the game pretty much has no endgame open world casual content and those who think open world endgame is just (poppable) (H)NMs or daily quests really isn't thinking too far outside the box. But to really pull that off, people need to let go of concepts of exclusivity that honestly fuels shit like world firsts or other inconsequential dick waving.
Not really a fair comparison, almost everything movement related is client side in PSO2 and contained in instances/peer-to-peer. Hacks (move speed/teleporting, crazy attack speed, infinite PP) all ran rampant for a while. Couldn't enter any block back then without seeing a shitload of RMT in both the lobby and the party list/multiparties.
