Oh right. Totally slipped my mind it's only FC housing for now. Never mind that then.

The main problem with this excuse is something you yourself already pointed out. Assuming we don't get anything worthwhile as far as gear goes until 2.2 people are going to be leveling into full ilvl90 sets, and while certain allagan stuff isn't BiS, it's only going to take a couple of weeks to finish the job off completely, probably grinding out the tomes on a different job than the one they're gearing anyways. I'd wager we'll have people who will own almost every piece of gear from coil by 2.2. (Didn't actually do the math on that, too tired.)
Like even the myth cap and coil lockout will only go so far to keep people from actually "beating" this mmo if they maintain this update schedule, which is just sad.
I can only assume that PvP will have some bullshit time-gate for it's gear as well.
I could really care less about the myth cap at this point. Running coil with myth body/head and allagan belt on pld and I have zero issues with 6200 hp. Granted from what I've heard death sentence gets worse in later stages(we're only working on clearing 2/3, max I've taken is 5900, usually 3000-3500) but for now it seems like our major problem is dps(which is most likely a positioning problem and loosing dps repositioning at certain points, kinda like turn 4).
Anyway, I'm running coil to get gear for pld, but I can't buy a piece of gear until I get either legs or feet because OH NO SOMETHING ACTUALLY DROPPED AND ITS THE PIECE I ALREADY HAVE SO NOW I'M USING ILVL60 GEAR IN THAT SLOT SO I CAN WEAR ILV90. Seriously. The combined head/body and legs/feet for darklight was a stupid idea. It makes upgrading so much worse.
Also I duno how they expect to put out a quality game which is tight on timing when I can't pop a mitigation ability as death sentence starts and not have it take effect by the time it's cast. I was using bulwark last night right as the cast started and half the time I wouldn't block it(I'm assuming the other half the time it might have taken effect or it was a random block). The combat system is really lack luster and obviously only gets worse with hallowed ground/benediction.
Mages at least have a single slot crafted option at level 70, whereas both of them are dual-slot for tanks.
Hoping if SE sees a profit in the game, they might devote teams working alternately on content to pump it out faster. Though if subs drop and they arn't making enough $$ the chances of that are slim and the less income they are getting means the more time they have to spend on any content that's worth the time.
More or less, and in general I take the shit personally because while I'm not uber-casual, I have both an unstable RL schedule (hurts static forming) and casual friends. So there's a mix of sympathy and empathy going where, while I don't intrinsically care if there is grindy content, I do care if there aren't alternatives to it that can help keep people on equal footing, not close-but-a-tier-or-two-behind because someone just can't let go of that exclusivity.
And if such a mentality must absolutely truly remain, then I don't mind it manifesting solely through aesthetics. This isn't to say the "welfare" versions need to look like shit, but let the "raid stuff" do the glowy things or whatever. The only other benefit large-scale content should yield is getting stuff more quickly, but that should be a given with having more mouths to feed by default (And RNG deciding it's mage day or something). It actually reminds me of how much I loathe how little current dungeon bosses actually drop even if they have 100% chests.
Either way, Yoshi more or less vocalized the time disparity thing in his own way. I don't think upping the mythic cap addresses that, really, as people are just going to feel obligated to grind 450 instead of 300, but it gives me the faint glimmer of hope that maybe he's not dense about this clash of demographics and may one day be brave with reward systems instead of fearing the backlash of a vocal minority.
Edit: Though in seeing another released blurb where craft gaps are intentional and they're letting the RMT bogeyman win here by avoiding comparable items, it seems like we're just reiterating the same tired dungeon runner game loot schemes.
On the leveling is not content bit, I enjoy leveling. I have no idea how much of the minority/majority I am in, but I insanely enjoy it. I have leveled paladin three times in WoW. Priest twice
In ffxi I basically did four fresh characters (though one I stopped back in CoP). So ya, I definitely wouldn't hate on making more shit to make leveling entertaining. That is something blizz did really well in Cata. Some if the redesigned questlines are funny as shit. And. I still think the WotL questlines beat out MoP's by far. They did a great job making the game fast for those that just want to get to cap (spam dungeons), and at the same time make it entertaining for those like me who enjoy the ride.
For many of us in the end-game scene, all the content in the world won't keep us playing this game if SE can't hammer out the lag issues, glitching and leashing mechanics before WoW's next Xpac. I can deal with a lack of content. I can deal with lockouts. I can deal with bullshit RNG on drops. That's a part of MMO life, and I signed up for that. I did not, however, sign up for shitty leashing mechanics that keep a mob running past the hate leader long after they've spawned, absurd glitches that eat LB3s without performing the ability in question and lag spikes that paralyze half my coil group through critical periods of a fight.
They fix even one of those and we're off and running at full speed.
While never having played WoW, on the leveling aspect in ffxi. Forming my static back when the game first came out, and leveling multiple jobs with them over the next couple of years was the most fun I've had in any online game period. All the stupid stunts that we pulled are great memories and I made several life long (so far) friends. I was semi hoping something like that would be in 14 but sadly no![]()
Another 4 str drops from the coils... can't see it anymore. Every week's the same. At least half of the drops is str >_>
Wow. Duty finder AK, SMN (AF gear) says it's his first time and asks for any tips. PLD (Relic/DL) says "yeah, I got one" and quits.
Said PLD is also on my server. What a dick.
You wont hear much of that Pld arrogance once the War changes. Sadly, you'll hear it from Wars at that point. Assholes gonna asshole.
Won't every PLD have WAR leveled to 50 by then? It's not like getting to 50 is hard, and their PLD gear will slot on WAR nicely (unless they've a ton of AF+1).
Anyway that SMN learned never to mention its your first time.
I just read Yoshi's changes to tomestones, disappointed there's still no mention of a rolling cap. It's looking like I'll miss the first 3 weeks of 2.1 since the patch will drop around the time I go on holiday, so that's a lovely 1350 myth I'll be behind. Not good when I'm getting shafted on Coil at the same time.

Doesn't fix jack shit. Does yoshi play this game? We still can't gear alts and have nothing progression wise to look forward to if we're clearing turn5 already for another 5 months. Fuck, even if people WORKING on turn5 there's nothing new here. How does he plan to keep subs?
It's not just about rotations (although I still disagree that WoW's are easier) but about the general combat mechanics. There's so little going on in FFXIV, there's just no depth whatsoever to it. Almost no procs, charges, resources etc. So little to work with, so few moving parts. I haven't played WoW in like a year but I did check out MoP at release and no class that I tried was as primitive as the ones I've tried in FFXIV. The tanks in particular are so primitive that it's hard to believe this is 2013 design. FFXIV's abilities are just too simple.
If you want to be fair, compare the actual "complex" FF14 classes to WOW ones, like Scholar, Monk, and warrior pre-2.1 buffs. Comparing something like Paladin, one of the easier classes I've played in a MMO, to anything in WOW isn't really fair. Paladin, bard, BLM, and to a lesser extent, summoner, are all really...I can't think of a word for it, super easy? No complexity ? Not sure, but they're really boring compared to something like Monk or Scholar when it comes to complexity.
For example:
http://www.noxxic.com/wow/pve/rogue/...-and-cooldowns
This is much less complex than monk's rotation.
http://www.noxxic.com/wow/pve/warloc...-and-cooldowns
About the same, if not less complex than summoner.
http://www.noxxic.com/wow/pve/mage/f...-and-cooldowns
About the same as Black mage.
Two of the Hallowed Grounds I used tonight never gave me the effect.
Before someone mentions it, no, this is not the whole "oh, skills take a couple seconds to go off" thing. I use the skill well in advance and the buff never appears on me at all, yet the skill goes on CD. This has happened to me when doing combos and other random skills before, but never when using such an important skill in a key moment of a fight... nevermind two times in the same night.
What a fucking waste of time. My rage for this game right now is endless.
