FFXIV Random Complaint Thread: Look forward to it

ftr (Group 3) I've never had shitheads in DF from Gilgamesh or Moogle that I can remember (and a disproportionally large number from Cactuar), or Mateus/Zalera but those are really new servers so...

It's with a mix of shame and disappointment that I can now say I've had bads in DF from every server in my cluster. Gilgamesh was the last to fall.

Random complaint: The Turn4 startup cutscene crashing the client. PS3, PC, it doesn't discriminate, will hit anyone it pleases, which seems to be a 50% chance on my static.

I always add "no experience required" at the end of my shout when I have to fill slots for my alt's group.

Here's a bizarre Coil complaint: I'm having a terrible time filling up a melee slot in the aforementioned group (the few melee we've taken to our runs can't make our times regularly). You'd think finding melee players would be simpler, but nope. : <

I have no words for the fact that I had to heal through a pair of Ifrit weapon DPS(both had mostly AK gear, DRG had some DL) when we were standing on the void patch during the wall of AK. I swear, we were gonna get crushed against the wall. Fuck this server sometimes.

Pretty much this. Watch videos and read threads to learn as much as possible without first hand experience. It's funny though, when you get interrogated in tells about your gear/exp and then you find out that, they themselves, have no idea what's going on and are way under geared compared to yourself.

Nothing will ever beat actual practice, but no one should ever expect perfection with a PUG anyway. As long as you can roughly mimic a video, you can say you're "experienced".

It's a combination of both imo.
When I can hear my ls mates calling out moves like HV or voices on Skype before the casting bar has even appeared on my client I realize that something is really off.

I used to have this when I had my old PC and before the delay fixes.

My computer is admittedly old, but still runs the game at decent settings without noticeable slowdowns in crowded/busy areas. I cannot think of a reason why the casting bar should appear noticeably late if the computer can do more than 40 fps (worst case) just fine. Unfortunately I'm not really interested in buying a new computer to rule mine out as a factor since it basically still does just fine with everything I throw at it. :/

They weren't calling it in advance, they were calling it right when they saw it. But that's hardly an issue of someone "not paying attention", T2 ADS rotations are funky, as they reset when it gains a new ability and the time between HVs can change considerably. I also specifically stated voices too for this very reason.

Random complain: people that still insist in claiming that "such lag doesn't exist"/"player must have a terrible connection"/"player must be bad"/"player must not know how the rotations work" because they don't experience the issue and had it easy all along. In every thread where people are trying to figure out possible causes/solutions/insight one of these guys pops up. That's besides the fact that it should be SE who actively tried to gather information to attempt to get this sorted out instead of just ignoring the threads about this that keep popping time and time again on their forums.

For the first bit. Mine was fine too, on everything, except cast bars and moving out of stuff etc.
I wouldn't have a single hiccup and my FPS was always high. Still. As I mentioned earlier. I'd only see like half a second of eruption or dragon's voice when I was supposed to be the stunbot and failed miserably most the time till I upgraded my PC.

As for your random complaint.
Fair enough, there were server issues at first, but after they fixed it, it's been better for me. Ofcourse, the new PC made it much better on top of it.

When you consider I play from The Netherlands and then hear people from place like New York complain it makes sense to think it's more on their end than the game's.

My random complain wasn't targeted at you at all, rather at Kaisha's comment. Yours help in pinpointing possible factors.

But when I consider that the only solution that many have for this issue are VPN-like services that improve routing and packet loss, you cannot really claim that it's a problem on the player's end or even the player's ISP.

Most of the routing happens out of the one's ISP scope, and SE is in a much better position to report such routing issues and provide enough technical details to the companies involved in said routing than the player will ever be. Or in lieu of doing that, localized servers could really help in lessening the chance of such issues appearing in first place.

I'm a 2.0 player, who unfortunately through a lay-off, has had an abundance of time to play lately. I've leveld up 4 classes to 50 and gotten all their respective relics and full DL for all of them, but even for a few weeks after I was having fun helping people, doing runs. Even if I wasn't improving, it was at least fun to be on vent with everyone, but I'm really starting to hit that wall where there doesn't feel like a whole lot for me to do (I despise crafting). Fewer and fewer of the FC mates are logging on, and half of them we only see on monday/tuesday, and then gone again till next week. 2.1 really can't come soon enough.

Just to clarify, I didn't take it as it being targeted at me

As for localized servers, I'm sure it would help a large playerbase, but in my case it really wouldn't since I work pretty much every day, including weekends till 10PM. By the time I get home most EU players will have done their endgame stuff (Or will have when it's finally released) so my only real option is to play with NA people, which works in this game.

I pretty much didn't play with any XI people ever since I quit it cause I've always been in NA Linkshells.
Ever since I started playing other games I have mainly been focussing on PVP, and having higher latency than most players in that case really annoys the shit out of me. meaning EU servers and didn't really get i touch with any XI people again till XIV.

When I started playing this game I didn't think I'd be bothered with PVP but seeing how dull the current content is, it feels like I will give PVP a more serious shot since most content is dumbed down to stupid levels.

So I'm kinda undecided on the idea of localized servers.

To add a little to this:

I play on a i7-3970x with 16GB of RAM, a GeForce Titan and the OS and game running off (two separate) SSDs. My Internet connection is 60/60 fiber.
In XIV's downtime I ran through GW2, Rift, TERA, TSW and a few I probably forgot, and the only game I ever had problems dodging in is XIV. And here I eat almost everything to the point that I started learning PLD.

I would argue that weak system specifications on my end aren't really a possibility on the table.

I don't want localised servers. I have too many NA and other friends from other games, let alone the fact that I don't speak much French and German, let alone anything else.
