Do titan in full AF and level 44 GC weapons. Can't eat any bombs, tank will be insta-killed by every single table flip, will never get past heart phase.

Try doing AK in full AF and level 44 GC weapons, you can do it but it's about 3-4x harder because demon wall exists.

Not just a single person, but your entire party for the two examples above.

The game has heavy gear checks, moreso on turn4 and 5, but the ones before then aren't really noticable because everyone gets good enough gear to do the stuff relatively quickly, a few people being overgeared makes the content extremely easy and if someone is in full AF/GC44 weapon it doesn't matter for something like AK/WP if the rest of your party can steamroll through the mobs like a hot knife through butter.

That's kind of another problem in itself, though. It's too easy and fast to "overgear" an instance and turn it into a complete joke.

Which is the exact reason why more i60 4 mans are a joke. They won't be in the least challenging. Would be awesome to see i70/i80 4 man stuff, but they pretty much said flat out they won't make any challenging 4 man content. Makes me sad.

Its a goddamn instance. Did Trial of the Crusader have to be the hardest content in WotLK? Hell no! That's what Uldular and ICC were for! Instances are a means to an end - a means to aquire the gear necessary to tackle the end-game content.

If you think its so easy to over-gear, then take your gear and clear Twintania. If you're seriously going to attempt to say that an ilvl60 dungeon shouldn't allow for it to be overgeared after obtaining ilvl60 gear, then I don't know what to tell you, especially when you consider that you AK was never a roadblock given that you could obtain myth tomes for ilvl70 at the same time you could run AK.

Had they gated content strictly into 50 > WP > AK > Primals > Praet > Coil, then your words would have some sort of subtance behind them. As of right now, though, they're just empty complaints, which is fine, given this is the random complaint thread, just don't try to assume that you're posing some sort of intelligent thought.

Both games have content you can't do if your gear is too far behind your current level or you're just straight up nude, don't think that's what they're talking about though. The fact that you need a certain level of gear to do Titan HM doesn't automatically prove that gear is more vital than competency. Having a full current BiS set doesn't mean everyone can backstroke their way through all the plumes or surf a landslide and then jump back on the platform either, so it's not as though you can just stand there and burn him.

Not saying gear doesn't make shit obviously easier but it's already been said that more gear allows for decreased competency in both games. Nothing has really been said that shows either game requires relatively more gear than competency though. Sure, you can do some goofy stuff on Titan like tank him with SMN egi or low man him if you get a bunch of gear from a higher tier first but that's like people realizing they could straight up burn Kirin with a certain amount of gear rather than having to put up with a long kiting session.

What you described with the gear checks actually sounds like it could apply to both games. The bulk of the content is easy to meet or exceed the gear requirement for, though not necessarily for the same reasons in each, and then a few high end encounters have a very noticeable one.

Do you really think nonlegacy servers farmed up full DL before clearing Titan? I'm also going to assume you mean ilvl55 weapons and not 44 b/c if you seriously mean 44...

Edit: I should note here, I was on a Legacy, but have seen "server first/world nonlegacy first" coil shit with people in AK gear.

I dunno why rocl has to argue something so fucking obvious it hurts. Gear allows for more margin of error, it doesn't make things that were unbeatable suddenly beatable. There's always going to be a realistic cap (like doing coil in ilvl 50 gear prob'ly won't go well) but holy shit you don't need to be geared to the teeth to actually do anything.

Skill and awareness counts for more than gear does, this has been and will always be true. Gear helps, but it isn't the end-all factor.

Because you just don't get it. Simply put: the best gear coming from only a handful of encounters is bad. It's bad even if the game just started, but at least they have an excuse. Patches only reaffirming that concept is real bad. You don't have to have a GED to get that, but it would help.
