Edit: As far as the (admittedly) pretty bad story in Other M, I'm glad they at least tried a more plot-driven (or at least, more plot-rich) game. I think their mistake was getting Team Ninja to do it. I think with a better (or at least more experienced in regards to story-telling) studio, a more story-heavy Metroid game could really work well (Prime 4? Please?). I think before that happens though, Nintendo will have to figure out where they want that story to go (which was apparently one of the biggest problems with that potential Metroid movie. Nintendo just hasn't put a lot of thought into Samus's motivations, goals, or the world around her). I hope Other M's lukewarm reception didn't put them off trying again.
