How is losing Thunder "RIP SMN"?
Unless I'm missing some other huge nerf.
Pretty much this, it also was extendable by Garuda's 1 minute ability. It was 100% part of Summoner's rotation, and as important as Summoner's class ability DoTs.
Summoner is all about DoTs, anytime we're not using them, we're using Ruin, arguably one of, if not the worst damaging spells in the game. 80 Potency on a 2.5 second cast.
Thunder was on par with SMN's weakest DoT (Bio) and couldn't be used with Bane (and was MP inefficient, not that you really run out of MP on SMN, but still).
It's less damage, yea, but SMN was hardly hurting for damage to begin with.
Adding another Ruin to where you would have previously cast Thunder essentially translates into a loss of 160 potency every 18s, I think they'll live. (Thunder = 240, Ruin = 80)
Contagion did offer a significant enhancement to Thunder, but again, SMN damage isn't suddenly gonna tank.
Complaint: Dev's don't play this game or simply just listen to whiners on forums who have no idea what the fuck they're talking about and are going to ruin the game over it.
Chain bonus: XI-style
Link bonus: Y'know when mobs have the yellow lines connecting them when you mouseover, and they all get pulled as a group? This is that.
So what, you got a bonus for killing each linking set of mobs? I never even noticed that. I only noticed the traditional XP chain bonus for rolling through.
Thunder change sucks but SMN was #1 ranged DPS before, probably about even with BLM now. Sucks MNK will shit on SMN now but it seems SE just want melee to be king since they're "harder" and more susceptible to AoEs. I'm more annoyed by it changing up the playstyle/rotation than the damage loss. Class just got significantly easier and more boring in the process, yay Ruin!
Summoner already basically went afk after putting all dots up.
The stated rate of decay for housing prices doesn't work with the numbers they provided. Nor does moving the decimal place over. It's amazing to me how poorly formatted/proof-read those patch notes are.
End value = starting value * (1 - b)^x, where b is the percent decrease and X is the period of time. We want to solve for b. This is the formula for exponential decay.
3,698,000 = 8,000,000(1 - b)^90
0.46255 = (1 - b)^90, now we take the 90th root of both sides.
0.991462768 = 1 - b, now rearrange the equation to isolate b.
b = 1 - 0.991462768
b = 0.008537232, which = 0.8537232% per day. Divide this by 24 then multiply by six for the decrease every 6 hours.
b = 0.2134308% every six hours.
So according to their numbers, it's actually decreasing by ~0.21% every six hours, not the 0.14% they probably meant to say. Maybe someone can check my math, I posted this from my phone.
For completeness' sake, if we use the 14% they provided and plug it into the formula, we need to tweak the time a little bit. 90 days x 24 hours = 2,160 hours, divide by 6 to get 360 decays. This will be our x.
M = 8,000,000(1 - 0.14)^360
M = 2.10 * 10^-17, which is obviously WAY off. If we assume they meant 0.14% every six hours, we'll end up with...
M = 8,000,000(1 - 0.0014)^360
M = 4,831,168.733, which is a lot closer to their stated value, but still wrong.
It's a flat .14% of the original price per 6 hours. 8,000,000 * .0014 = 11200. 11200 * 4 * 10 = 448000. 8000000 - 448000 = 7552000 which matches their 10 day forecast. Their 90 day forecast is wrong in that it's supposed to be 3968000 not 3698000. If you figure the .14% 4 times a day for 90 days you get an overall decrease of 50.4% which is I assume where they got the 50% from.
Twin will suck now. Dreds in Turn 4 will be more annoying for healers now too. I mean, they didn't like nerf the damage output per say on the class (except for stuff like BFB and IR) but they ruined a good mechanic for reducing damage that wasn't part of the tanks arsenal. Ok, whatever. But now you changed it so that it reduces a mobs evasion by 10%? If SE played the game they would know that you don't miss, ever, unless you're doing it wrong. The skill is useless now. This 'oversight' in conjunction with the obscene idea that housing costs should start at 20 mil and only fall to half of that value after a long period of time completely baffles me. So basically if you're in a FC with 100 people, everyone needs to put up 200k at 2.1 release to buy the smallest house. How about the guys like me who are in a small FC with only 8-12 members? Yea. I'm not blowing everything I have to buy the smallest piece of property. Sad to say, at least for me, 2.1 patch notes confirm that SE has no idea WTF they're doing.
Jesus christ some of these patch notes give me a headache.
They hit Bards hard as hell, 10% loss on IR, 10% loss on BfB, no attack reduction on Rain of Death.
More important to me though, is the ridiculous cost of housing. I have like 2 million gil right now and while I could make some more, the speed would be slow, and I have at least 2 crafts capable of 100% HQing 2 Stars. I sure love dropping 500k on making a gryphonskin ring just to watch it stumble down to 200k in 2 days because every fucktard on the server can't keep still/camp the Market Boards 24/7. I make more money cheesing lazy people with iron ores. Who actually has like 50 million gil other than the few who hardcore grinded their crafts at the beginning?What happened to "about the same cost as picking every money bag to 50"? wtf SE.
lol wow really, god forbid you actually balance the game so that people bring every jobWhen multiple characters are playing the same class/job in a party, the gauge for level 2 and level 3 limit breaks will now fill more slowly than before.
lots of typos everywhere too, since i'm being bitchy/nitpicky anyway
