You've probably got lucky with a decent route via WTFast. Certainly seems like a packet loss issue on certain routes to the servers, from what people are reporting.
Which server are you using for WTFast? It might not be the best for my ping (i'm in Australia), but if I can come across a decent route I'll happily sacrifice a bit of latency to get rid of the rubber banding. Certainly sounds like you've found a way around it.
Ah ok yeah, JP servers for me. Guess I'll fiddle with different servers tonight and go from there. I probably should just suck it down and check out where the packets loss is actually occurring so I can make a better choice on the server. Not that there's many internet pipes from Australia to the outside world.
First Ultima Extreme kill, got pass last set of bombs, boss at 2% and I get an error 3102.
One thing I don't understand with the players is the lazyness they show toward the macros.
I mean for god sake.. its more easy to make than it was in XI, there is more space to type them as well, but no one seems to be willing to use them.
I can understand when you're a DD, but when you're a tank or a healer its important to use them.
Things such as Convalescence for example, when used its good to say it so the healer know. As a tank its good to say how much MP/TP you've got left, especialy when the DDs of the PT are messing up things around.
People are just in their little bubble, with their little friends groups using their little mumble that they think communication via macro is irrelevant.
I even been told by a SCH that macros were unnecessary on secondary jobs (his main is DRG)... I mean how retarded is that, I'm secondary BRD, it mean I should not make a macro for blunt Arrow when I go T2 in PUG? lol.
The more it goes & the more this game lose its appeal to me, so many retards playing this game, its incredible.
haha you should see my macros as a PLD tank, ask anyone on BG that's partied with me. I've done it since Day 1.
it's beautiful ...
I recently got Mantra, not made a macro for that yet, it's on my to do list.
I don't make [announce/broadcast] macros on DPS jobs unless it affects others, so in MNK's case, and by extension, DRG, you'll see in party that that I have in fact, used Mantra.
If I play BRD I'll make a macro + pretty readable text for each song I use.
Only dps macro I have is mages balled and battle voice.
I have macros but the ones above are absolutely worthless. I expect my healers to be competent enough to realize when the tanks hp is low they need to heal them. It doesn't require a macro to tell them to do their job. Convalescence, very rarely is a macro needed for something like that especially if, you as a tank, are competent enough to be rotating cds reasonably. Also, I'm fairly certain healing in this game doesn't require that degree of attention. Just about 99% of my healers wouldn't react any differently to me macro'ing that information in.
At most you might need a provoke macro to inform of tank swaps but even that is few and far between as you should have a little faith in your 2nd tank to perform their job. A cover macro could also be useful to prevent people from straying to far but that is rarely required.
Real random complaint:
Players that need to be hand held through their job and have everything called out to them(mechanics included).
Players that need to pay for clears instead of getting better at a fight or making friends.
Players who sell them fucking clears then complain about tards in df.
Players who think everything should be fucking solo'd or solo queue'd instead of being active in a community or making competent friends. Who'd have thought we were playing an mmo lol?
The whole fucking crafting system being an effortless hq fest.
Chocobo leveling grinds.
The materia system just being a fucking gem system instead of something original or a closer homage to FF7/leveling talent system.
I really think the above is irrelevant, but thats my personal point of view.
"If X is competent then I should not have to do this". Its not about X being competent, its about you maximizing your chance of succes via communication. Also I don't see the point betwin the tank rotations and the macro for convalescence, I am sorry but when you get a (lets say) mountain Buster on the face, I hardly doubt that your rotation will change anything. Reflex to cast Thrill of Battle & such would, exactly like swiftcast raise work on reflex.
Now the convalescence macro might not change it or break it either, but if you die no one can say "Why didn't you use convalescence?" It also remind the healer "Hey! oh shit!" which does nothing more but benefit.
This game is also about helping each other during a hard fight by communicating, I don't know for you but I personaly want to put every chances of succes on my side when I PUG, even if it mean that I need to tell the healer about convalescence. Mumble - TS - Skype does exactly the same thing when you play with your friends.
If one start with the "X should be competent" mentality then this said person is not better than the said retards from DF.
Note: In most case DF/PUG party fails for the reasons below:
1) Lack of knowledge of the fight, we're not talking about lack of skills there because the game is a never ending repetition.
2) Lack of communication, people want to go & kill asap without trying to make each others roles clear. Its not about knowing your job and being good at it, as every party is different. You may be asked to main tank as WAR & off-tank as PLD or vice versa.
3) Lack of patience "Aka: One fail you're kicked or One fail and a butthurt asshole leave."
Funnily enough Macros can fix problem 1 & 2 when used smartly.
I hope this post doesn't look like agressive because its not my intention to look that way. but I don't understand the Skills versus macro argument.
As a healer, I don't see how this matters. If you need healing, I heal you. If you don't, then I don't. Whether or not this buff is active doesn't really change anything to me. If we were talking about Mantra or Fey Illumination, then I might agree with you.
The only thing I really care to know is when the tanks are swapping and if someone else is using something like Virus (since I use a /ac Virus <tt> macro and won't know if Virus/Antibody is on the target).
If the tank doesn't have Convalescence up how am I supposed to know they really need me to heal them?
What, am I supposed to watch their HP bar all the time?
I imagine the idea is that if you have Convalescence up it changes the healer's timing on cures since they'll be worth more if you're super OCD about overcuring, but honestly MP's generally not an issue unless people are being dumb and dying left and right. That aside, when I'm on healer I'm watching my tank's status bar all the time anyway so I'd know when he has it up.
I put Convalescence up when I expect to take a lot of damage to make it easier to top me off. Waiting to cure your tank is usually a good way to get them killed.
So just checked the tank set for CT and there's zero accuracy on head/body/gloves/legs. 13 on the feet.
Really. Sweet. Itemization.
That's about the only way to use it I suppose, the short windows to cure in this game really limits the use of the skill, if they end up overcuring you because of convalescence it wouldn't be any different from if you didn't use it at all.
If your healer blames a tanks death on them not using convalescence, they were already grasping at straws for an excuse, I don't think a party macro will change that. In fact, I think keeping chat channels clear for actually important stuff is better than letting some braindead healer know that you have convalescence up. The only ability on a tank's skillset that I think it's worth a mention in chat is when hallowed ground wears off.
this and what obsidian said, Pop it right before a big chunk is coming to make it easier to top me off.
on macros: I'm a lazy fuck and will forever play via xbox controller, so without macros i would not be able to fit everything easily on my set up. War has a ton of CD's (more so than pld since we have 3 seperate combo's)
