not a single fucking PUG i have been in has been capable of getting Garuda Extreme past the first set of tornadoes, let alone any of them being smart enough to no to kill the Spiny before we even get to that phase my god.
I'm surprised at the amount of Ifrit Ex wipes I've had on my SCH with full ranged groups, which is supposed to be the 'easy mode' method since it doesn't require either healer swaps, or melee DPS that actually pay attention.
[EDIT] And of course I could have had my Ifrit Ex win if not for the other healer who accidentally MPK'd the entire group by running into the group on the final hellfire with his debuff still well active....
No reason tanks (WAR in particular) can't DPS behemoth/adds too. Always seemed fucking daft to go and put someone out of melee range of all their damn targets. Moot point if they're in giant party. There is 0 reason why any class couldn't do tower & their normal duty; the only reason you put tanks there is because they serve zero purpose in that fight after you get someone to hold the Behemoth and someone to hold the Giant
If I'm on tower it's nice to go to one of the north ones and drop a combo on behe between each press. If you do the whole duration of berserk the tower goes up to 2 stacks.
So I took a new Coil static out for a spin tonight. It went passably until turn 4. Dear god, turn 4. Apparently, the usual strategy wasn't good enough, and we were expected to leave the phase 4 bugs alive, feed and kill the phase 5 dreadnought, then... somehow magically get there in phase 6.
I have never even heard of that approach before, and I honestly can't see any advantage to it over the normal one. Just special snowflake for the sake of being special snowflake as far as I can see. Oh, and we didn't clear after hours of trying, despite that I've one-shotted it with pickup groups before using the normal approach. Bleh.
We're nearly to the point where we have enough DPS to kill both statues and the DK on P5 drop. We get the DK to about 20% after statues, kill rook on P6 then finish off the DK. Seems like an extra pain in the butt to do it that way with all the statues. I guess different things work for each group.
is it really "melee heavy" if your group is half ranged and half melee lol?
I felt the same my first time there. I know my DPS isnt that huge of a contributor, but it is there.
I'd run out to wake the balloons or Behemoth and theyd start yelling to get back to my tower. Yo, it's got no stacks, and takes a good while to build to 2.
Also I'd keep stone skinning my self, and then whack something to get my MP back.
Trying to be self sufficient here.
No, be mindless, stand there and hit the console.
The only semi valid answer I could see is when I was whacking stuff, once i had a comet aimed on me.
as someone in CT once famously told me after i ditched my tower to grab giants cuz people can't tank shit and it's running around cleaving everything
"don't leave your tower and try to be a hero"
the wipe (0 comets for meteor) was solely blamed on the fact the tanks left their towers to try to help organize the chaos (i'm p sure the mt died at some point too)
heavy is the head that wears the crown, but worth the commendations
Anyone have the tragic opportunity to play with Illuminati Princess in CT?
They need to add Blacklist functionality to CT asap.
lol Rocl, I've only went tank a handful of times to try and get that armor of light and caught that same shit. I'd leave to just literally kill the bombs that were close and get the "WTF UR TOWER IS RED". Fuck, once the tank below my tower was meteor'd and I was running back and forth tagging both and was getting shit for that too.
last night i was tanking Giants on KB. nobody killed the 3rd Giant, dragged that thing with me to the comet for the last meteor.
first time that has ever happened and i average about 12 CT runs a week.
I asked and simply got some "we need to figure out what works for our group" and "every group does it differently, it's okay" with no real explanation of how we gained any kind of advantage. Especially when we never once transitioned into phase 6 without wiping horribly.
Suffice to say we had more than enough nuking power to kill the bugs. The tanks refused to accommodate this, though, and the OT would run off and stand where the phase 5 dreadnought spawns (often without all the bugs on him) and the MT would stand where the knight/soldier spawn. It was a clusterfuck.
