You get a stat boost for equipping a job crystal. Offhand, I don't know how much of a boost you get at those levels though.

Honestly all those leveling dungeons are so faceroll, it doesn't really matter if you're on a class or not. I've done up to Stone Vigil with people on classes be it dps, tank, or healer and finished them just fine.

I've found that the tanks I've gotten without job crystals just can never hold hate. Dunno if that's the job ITSELF, or the player. Methinks it's more the player, but idk. Also, I feel like they have less defenses.

It's a little of both. By 30/40 most DPS jobs have the tools to rip hate if the tank isn't hate comboing all day. But a lot of bad tanks can't see beyond mob #1 so they're not going to hold it with or without enmity+ stances.

They do have less defenses (no shield oath, no defiance), and if they're not a good/great player holding hate is going to be incredibly hard. I ended up in a darkhold as gladiator with a good monk. I was barely able to keep hate off the healers because I wasn't able to get a halone off on the third mob unless I let the monk momentarily steal hate on the first one. Other than situations like that, a non-job can still hold hate fine in dungeons like darkhold and stone vigil, but you have to be on point.

Speaking of job crystals, is there any point to putting the PLD one on before level 40? Sword oath and cover seem kind of pointless for midlevel dungeons.

Sword Oath is going to increase your damage and hate holding capabilities more than any other cross class skills (in the long term, obviously).

The only cross-class defensive skill worth a damn that you lose out on is Keen Flurry.

1 of 2 things needs to happen.

There needs to be no distinction between new and in-progress runs in the DF confirmation window.

or

There needs to be a lockout (10 mins, at least) for withdrawing from the confirmation window (or timing out).

This needs to happen, and I agree I'm guilty of abusing it because it doesn't exist.

Why queue for 30 minutes as MNK for any dungeon when I can just swap to WAR and fish for 2/3 In Progress for 3 minutes. It just makes Tanks even harder to come by for normal dungeons.

Horrible system that needs to be changed in 2.2.

On Topic/Instant Bad Karma/Wall of Text:

Tried doing this last night and accepted a 0/3 In Progress Wanderer's Palace. Was instantly greeted by someone with the name "Ahri Danger" who welcomed me and told them how horrible their last tank was.

Looked at my party makeup, like I always do for lower tier dungeons, to see how fast I can go. Ahri, a MNK, is wearing an i55 weapon, a bunch of i55 pieces, and accessories that aren't even level 50.

Looking at the WHM in similar gear whose only good piece was a Darklight Robe and the Black Mage who doesn't even break 3k HP, I just assumed we were going to go nice and slow. Immediately the MNK tells me I don't know how to tank if I didn't pull everything to second set of Tonberries (speed run it) and that I was gonna be just as awful as the last tank. So just to appease them, I do it. I drop below 2k HP constantly after blowing all CDs cause the Stalker almost catches up to us cause it takes us that long to kill it with this DPS.

Proceed to boss where they want to do the "kill Tonberry, sleep rest" strat. I try to wait, back to the wall while it seals, and at the last second the BLM uses a spell to rip hate off what little I had on the mobs, pulls them in, whatever, we still beat it. All 3 tells me how horrible I am but I'm still better than the last tank.

I literally solo all 3 other skeletons before Boss because my party wants to run ahead of me. Whatever. Get to boss room, same thing happens with BLM who pulls in and gets us all insta killed. Tells me it's my fault. I explain he shouldn't be using spells on the other mobs, just the boss. Whole party tells me how I'm awful.

2nd Fight happens, this time with the BLM referring to me as "Devil Woman" the whole fight and getting an attitude with me. The MNK tells me I'm garbage and need to learn how to play, and the WHM is spamming Cure 3/Medica and wondering why I can't hold hate on the newly spawned adds.

Beat the boss. MNK and them run ahead to the tonberries/stalker. Keep trash talking me. MNK recommends I learn how to play the game and wants me to watch Youtube videos.

Hit U on keyboard. Tell the MNK to go fuck herself for being such a mean spirited player. Click Withdrawl. Hit yes.

Regular queue. Get WP. Beat it in 10 minutes, hassle free. Get 3 Commendations.

tl;dr: Fuck Ahri Danger and Fuck In Progress Queues.

For w/e reason, Ultima HM makes me full on retarded as a healer. I have healed basically everything in this game (except turn 5) without issues. Can easily watch hp and dodge mechanics. Could even do it on Titan EX in my sleep. Ultima HM? Ifrit to the face or some retarded shit I should know better about. My brain just fucking doesn't want to do it.

That Radiant Plumes + Crimson Cyclone combo and fuck right off if you need to be doing anything other than running around. Dark, dingy Ifrit can be so damn hard to see during that crap when you're staring at white/cyan HP bars and big, glowing, orange/red circles.

For me it's more when you have to stack in the middle for the missiles while the lasers all lock onto the middle. I don't do Ultimas that often and since this part never seems to wipe parties I haven't really thought about it, but when the middle is filled with charging lasers and my screen gets blinded by the missiles exploding it's basically robert_downey_jr_survive.gif

I seem to have the best luck. On BRD: Ifrit always spawns either west or east so easy to see. On healer: LET ME JUST SPAWN RIGHT AT THE TANKS SO YOU CAN'T SEE WHAT DIRECTION I AM GOING BECAUSE ULTIMA IS BIGGER THAN ME AND FUCK YOU THAT'S WHY.

Oh god, I can imagine. After I saw caster lb3 in t2 I turned off all outside animations. It actually makes ps3 run a lot better too so win-win

The answer is not to "stack", people should be more or less actively running thru the middle as the impacts happen so they take the least damage possible while not causing a clusterfuck crossfire in one location.

Also the tank should be staying put and popping HG/Holmgang so the healers don't have to shit themselves worrying about the group and the tank at the same time (a well timed HG nulls the freefires and the following Diffractive Laser, which is usually what kills tanks at that part, don't think Holmgang lasts long enough to get both tho).

Why the hell do I need 4 to enter a dungeon or 8 to enter coil, what happens if in the future when we're all i500+ and we wanna go spank T1-10 for the lulz, or do a dungeon that may have a mount in it(doubt they will ever consider doing this).
