This. I can't really comment on if it's "bad" design, but it's "frustrating" design that a group can have the "prestige" of beating the hardest fight in the game and be unlucky enough to not have any loot to show for it that is immediately recognizable (ie weapons). There's not even a title for killing Twintania or anything. Just an achievement, which nobody else can really see at a glance.
Though this is probably a very antiquated FFXI mindset that doesn't apply in the MMOs of today. *shrug*
You know people wouldn't mind doing the content X times if they had a carrot to keep them going. But XIV doesn't even give that, the ratio on RNG is so stupid that you could get 20 times the same thing in a row. At this point its not making the content last longer but its wasting people time & effort.
If they were implenting some sort of token system such as the silver one from NNI "which required like 4 in order to obtain one good item if I remeber correctly" lock this token once a week if you like but remove the lockout, then what would happen?
Anyone in your FC could help you &/or play with each other at anytime, and after 4 weeks of clearing content you could get what you want, this would also make the content last longer for SE.
People like Lucavi can argue as much as they want wheter or not its my personal opinion but we're playing a MMO and every carrot is welcomed by everyone to keep going, thats a fact.
My main complaint is people aren't being very clear on what they specifically feel is "a" bad design choice, there are many different loot systems implemented in the game. It seems like most people are unhappy with the Twintania loot system, and that seems reasonable. I mean sure this IS the random complaint thread but its certainly dull complaining and arguing without specifics.
If coil was open to all, and instead of dropping loot dropped a token for each player once a week, then how would that system be overly different from extreme weapons (ignoring the added jewelry)? People are already unhappy with the myth cap so the idea of forcing them to wait 4 weeks to get a piece of gear is not great. Anyone can currently help/play with people for extreme primals, but it is more likely people who are the highest tier players are clearing with the same subset of people and are less likely to help others.
It will be interesting to see when 2.2 hits what will occur when coil becomes open, I assume people will help their friends get their initial clears but most farm parties are either going to be with their set static or through PF. I guess the big question is will they adjust how loot is scaled/distributed in the second part of coil, taking into account how it compares to leviathan drops and the new dungeons. I'm sure whatever they decide will make/break people's interest in the game.
Basicaly every RNG in anything. Coil/CT/HM & EX primal (jewelry). I believe everyone goes "EXP only - 2fail = kick" for EX primals because of that too, they just don't want to waste more time than it will take to get their lot already. If they only had to do it once I think they would be more patient & do it with everyone. This my personal opinion for that specific matter tho, judging by the amount of PUG Coil versus PUG EX primal on my server.
I strongly agree for the part that it wouldn't be different, but it would be much better than what we have now, i'd take a 4 week delay over 5-6+ weeks wasted on the same lot anytime.
Also people upset with the myth cap should take a look from an outsider point of view because while its long it still assure them one valuable piece of gear (BLM as an example) you are sure to get 3 BiS in 3 weeks, as it could take much longer in coil.
Someone also pointed that sometimes people in our FC are total unknow (mine has alot of people & I know only 4 of them), that its just serve the purpose of roosters etc, well unlocking T1-5 will do good there. No more rooster for T1-5, we'll all get to know each others.
As long as its not messed up like it is right now XD.
Coil drops are like salvage drops. You have a long lock out for something that is subject to extreme RNG bullshit. I still haven't seen a pair of aiming feet from turn 4, and I've been clearing that shit for longer than I can remember paying for xiv.
I don't know why anybody would defend lock outs + RNG. Lockouts (tomestones) vs RNG (primal accessories) are both things every intelligent person seems to be fine with, but combining them is just plain orz.
What's retarded about it all is you get rewarded more for doing the easy content, IE the myth which has the weekly lockout (450 cap) but you get to choose your loot. T5 weapons being an exception of course since there's no myth equivalent.
The extreme primal weapon system is the best loot system they've implemented. If the 4 Coil turns dropped a token each week and you were guaranteed a piece of loot for your efforts by exchanging these there would be no complaints. On average you should be entitled to one piece of loot each week now anyway since there's 8 chests so it wouldn't create gear any faster.
1.0 Primals had that mix system, for Garuda you got head dresses or somethin. 1 per kill or somethin and I think 10 to choose your own weapon ontop of the chance for a weapon to drop in the fight. Wasn't bad
Damn, I was pretty far off. I knew I had got my van and sword that way, but I don't remember 40 lol BLM burn FTW I guess
Also that system was exclusive to Garuda.
Ifrit/Moogle had tokens but they weren't guaranteed and had stupidly low drop rates, essentially defeating the purpose of a token system.
Unrelated.
RMT tells seem to have gotten a big resurgence lately, they've even gotten wise and target zones other than cities where people tend to gather (Mor Dhona, Coerthas, West La Nos, etc).
Dear Twintania, we would love somemore Baghnak.
The fact that there are people in existence who spend their time joining 7/8 PF's and then ditching. This causes your PF to reset to default spots and then everyone has to get back on mains in order to requeue properly.
I think if you blacklist people they can't see your party in the finder. So everyone on Hyperion /blist "Deus Mortis" . You're welcome.
Haha Deus Mortis. I think everyone has had the misfortune of partying with him. Have you ran into his brother tho lol. Both of them will say afk bong rips. Man I wish I could remember his brothers char name. Avoid both at all costs.
Why have they still done nothing about DF fishing.
Fucking why in the fuck is this shit still happening months after CT was released.
