Play something besides monk. Who levels an alt of the same class as their main??

My FC seems to have a problem with too many Coil groups and not enough people to fill the slots, for one reason or another (someone's sick, vacation, can't make it, etc.) There became a demand for extra DPS cause groups were always short and people always asked me if I'd join them but I can't because I'm already in a static that goes on Mondays.

Basically, my alt exists to fill in when other groups need help and are short a member for some reason. Rather than have to relearn the fight on another job, I just play what I already know best.

But leveling alts is cheating and infuse counterfeit gil into the game. The OF told me so!

Main character is locked out of Coil for the week. Can't use that character to help other FC groups who still struggle with Turn 5 (and some Turn 4). So I can't even use my main to help others now... frustrating.

Alt character was made for that purpose but there's more groups that need help then my one alt covers. And I'm not leveling Monk to 50 for a 4th time. I'm crazy, but not that crazy.

I can't wait for T1-5 to be unlocked as well >.>; ever since I knew this would happen I have been lazy on myths farming. I guess i'll just keep em for the new mats and try to make big money.

I'm in a similar boat. I created an alt a week ago for the sole purpose of being able to stand in others' coil teams, and what did I wind up leveling? WAR; one of the two jobs I use heavily on my main. I'm trying to branch out now, but once I hit 50 it dawned on me how stupid it looked to level the same job I already use a bunch. Oh well, at least I have a tank job that I can abuse for quick queue times for tome farming.

lol I did the same. Made an alt last week to main SCH on it and I'm already going to have to level tank. I did it help with coil groups in our FC as we suffer from the constant no shows on groups 3 and 4

15 crit vs 15 speed, all other slots being equal, is a drop in the bucket. I wouldn't have taken them from a SCH but I'd use them on WHM if I did. Saves myth I guess. From a post I made a while back in the WHM advanced thing that is tangentially sorta related:

Head/Body/Feet don't have a crit option for WHM, Hands/Belt don't have a Det option. Assuming Myth Belt/Legs/Feet and Allagan Head/Body/Hands (and Allagan Ring1 unless someone wants to debate Vortex vs Allagan, or using the Speed alternatives for any slots): difference between det and crit spec would just be 4 accessories.

Allagan Neck/Ear, Primal Wrist/Ring2:
PIE 28, Det 41, Speed 11

Myth Neck/Ear/Wrist/Ring2:
PIE 40, Crit 54

Ughhh, every single time I tank+kill a skeleton on square 2 (middle) instead of square 3 (back) during the Dragon boss in CT. Every single time I do it, someone bitches at me, even though not once has it caused problems.

There's even a logical reason to do it, but noooo, gotta follow standard stupid procedure, skeletons to the back. Suck it people. I'll tank it wherever I feel like.

1) If two skeletons get too close to each other, they get a purple line attached to them, and they get the movement speed+ buff (this is actually the reason why you can't have two on the same square). If you pull all the skeletons to the back, and two skeletons in adjacent paths make it to the closest square, they'll get attached and rush in. If you stagger the skeletons, 2 at the back 1 in the middle, or vice versa, that can't happen.

2) The longer it takes for the tank to put the skeleton in place, the greater chance you have of the dragon being killed before the skeletons are down.

3) If your tank is at the back, it's harder for the healers to reach you.

4) I'm lazy and I don't want to walk all the way back there.

Clearly far more thought than needs to go into that fight, I know, but if your DPS can't handle a few skeletons on square 2 instead of 3, the group has bigger problems.

Thats why you tank the dragon in the middle and every skeleton can have a back platform >.>
